00:00 People across the country are celebrating their love of a British
00:03 classic as they come together on National Fish and Chip Day which this
00:07 year takes place on June 6th. In the spirit of a National Fish and Chip Day I
00:13 have been to get myself a little takeaway for lunch. I can't wait I have
00:20 to have loads and loads of salt and vinegar on mine and I have to say I
00:25 prefer curry sauce. Apparently the most popular in our region is mayonnaise and
00:34 gravy which I've got to say I'm pretty surprised about. They did throw in a
00:39 tartar sauce too which I'm very happy about. Let's get into the fish I'm just
00:44 gonna tear a chunk off why not. Oh look at this, it'll be crispy batter. Happy
00:50 National Fish and Chip Day to all who celebrate. Over half of people surveyed
00:56 admitted that cod was their favorite fish this was followed by haddock. A
01:00 survey has found 64% of people said salt and vinegar is their favorite thing to
01:05 have on their chippy whilst mushy peas were a clear winner when it came to what
01:09 people wanted to eat alongside theirs with 40% opting for the accompaniment.
01:15 We've been on the streets of Liverpool to ask how you take yours.
01:20 Salt and vinegar and what's it the sauce? Brown sauce. Brown sauce yeah.
01:26 No salt for me. I like gravy at times but most time I love it with ketchup.
01:34 Curry sauce. That's it. Salt and vinegar. Plenty yeah.
01:41 Brown. Ice cream brown.
01:45 Salt and vinegar? No.
01:47 British consumers eat approximately 167 million portions of fish and chips from
01:53 chippies every year with the UK spending a staggering 1.2 billion pounds annually.
