WATCH: Christine Stanger discusses a proposed Bill that would make it illegal for businesses to refuse cash payments.
Transcript
00:00 There is a bill being proposed that would force businesses to accept both cash and card.
00:06 What are your thoughts about that?
00:08 Look, I think as cash is still legal tender and hopefully will be for a long time to come,
00:14 I think businesses should accept both card and cash.
00:20 Yes I agree with the bill that they should have to pay both.
00:25 We have the choice not to go to somewhere where we have to pay by card, but it's taken
00:30 the choice away from a lot of people who don't use a card, particularly the elderly and the
00:35 very young.
00:37 And what are your sort of spending habits?
00:38 Do you use cash mostly or card?
00:41 I use BPAY, I use direct debit, I use the card and I pay cash for the smaller things.
00:48 For instance, paying for an overseas trip last year, if we used any sort of card, there
00:56 was a fairly substantial addition to the bill, so we went to the bank, got the money out
01:01 and paid by cash.
