00:00Two new living roof shelters are being installed on Morecambe Promenade.

00:08and the second will be replacing an older style shelter,
00:11naturally come to the end of its serviceable life.
00:13This is located opposite Morecambe Aldie, adjacent to the Promenade wall.
00:18Living roof shelters help support native biodiversity,
00:22help create healthier local communities and bring greenery back into urban areas.
00:27They are also a positive step towards supporting the arrival of Eden Project North
00:32and also making, albeit small, a contribution towards Lancaster City Council's efforts towards the UK climate emergency.
00:40The work is being carried out by Clear Channel,
00:43who have been working in partnership with Lancaster City Council since 2002,
00:47providing advertising bus shelters within our district.
00:50The living roof shelters are being provided by them as part of that contract.
00:57The living roof shelters will be owned and maintained by Clear Channel,
01:01as is the same for all their other assets in the district.
01:04This frees up the council's involvement, letting us reduce costs and focus on our infrastructure.
