00:00We'll be right back.
00:07Only eight games on this Monday Major League Baseball card.
00:10We previewed three already now time to finish out with the
00:13final five and we start with an American League East
00:16Divisional Duel up in Toronto between the Blue Jays and the
00:20Orioles virtually a pick them Baltimore a slight road money
00:23line favorite at minus one sixteen Grayson Rodriguez the
00:28other side for the Blue Jays the over under seven and a half.
00:31What do you expect on this Monday up in the six by the way
00:35gas was pretty solid picture here and on the season and
00:37eighty-one X fit minus which is good now against right-handed
00:40batters. He's been absolutely phenomenal on the season.
00:42Hundred thirty-two. He's face been a one thirty ISO and
00:45awaited on base percentage of 289. But if we flip that over
00:48to left-handed batters whom he's faced a hundred and two
00:50of that's a 204 ice on a way to don't base percentage of
00:53392 anticipated as many as six left-handed batters in the
00:56lineup, which we include switch hitters and you're looking
00:58at some guys with some big-time power numbers against
01:01right-handed pitching Gunner Henderson a 338 ISO 382 way to
01:05don't base percentage at the Rutschman 203 ISO power number
01:08another lefty Anthony Santander 270 way to don't base
01:11percentage issues me ISO power number. So you're looking at
01:13a pretty good hitting lineup. We'll see if Galsman can hold
01:16those guys down if we flip it over to the other side and
01:18take a look at the pitching matchup here from Toronto's
01:20perspective at the play Grayson Rodriguez who has been
01:23really good against right-handed batters for the past
01:2530 days, but hasn't always been the case on the season.
01:28114 batters. He's faced. That's a 167 ISO and a 335 weighted
01:32on base percentage, but also you take a look at the last
01:3530 days. How about a K rate for Grayson Rodriguez of 33%
01:39that is tremendous couple guys in this lineup, which it feels
01:42like on a day-to-day basis for me. Sometimes you take a look
01:44at say, okay Boba Shett in the middle of the lineup. He's
01:46going to be the beneficiary of having Schneider Jansen and
01:49Guerrero in front of him, but I seem to always getting back
01:51to Schneider and Jansen on a day-to-day basis versus lefties
01:54and righties have been very good Schneider over the past
01:5630 days at 250 ISO power number against righties. How
01:59about Danny Jansen to 212 but weighted on base percentages
02:02of the first five guys in the lineup here for Toronto
02:04364, 355, 451, 389 and 338. I'm still going to give the
02:09edge here to the Baltimore Orioles, but it looks like
02:11Toronto if they can bring some of the bats here against
02:13Rodriguez, maybe they can do some damage as well.
02:17The Blue Jays two games below 500 Toronto always has
02:20optimism given its young core and so far they have not
02:23reached that level of expectation 28 and 30. It led
02:27to some conversation yesterday from GM of the Blue Jays
02:30organization Ross Atkins saying that he is fielded calls
02:34in terms of inquiring about the trade status of Vlade
02:38Jr. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And the shortstop in Boba Shett
02:42saying it doesn't make any sense to trade those two guys
02:45a hard pass. But if you're having those conversations
02:48and you were expected to be a playoff team, you never
02:51know what the rest of the summer could hold until late
02:54July in the MLB trade deadline two teams square off
02:58tonight in Arlington both one win or yeah, one win away
03:02from getting to 500. That's the Rangers and the Tigers
03:06Texas 29 and 30 the reigning World Series chance same
03:10number for the Detroit Tigers 29 and 30 in Aces affair
03:15tonight in Arlington Tarek scuba on the bump for Detroit
03:20on the other side. It's Nathan of Aldi for Texas for sense
03:24of separations in that money line price DRS who gets to
03:28500 tonight. Yeah, two guys with good ERS here. It's Eric
03:32scuba 2.01. You take a look at Nathan E of Altia 2.84 but
03:35even more importantly get into those analytical numbers
03:37best pitcher on the card tonight. Minimum of 20 innings
03:39pitched in 2024. It's Eric scuba. You take a look at him
03:42at a 63 X fit minus but Nathan E of Aldi still under 100
03:46here. He's rated at a 91. So if we're taking a look at
03:49what makes sense of what doesn't it's hard sometimes to
03:51gauge Nathan E of Aldi not a lot of action over the past
03:5430 days. So it's almost like you're taking that a little
03:56bit with a grain of salt. The one thing that we do know if
03:58we flip it over Texas does have some formidable bats, but
04:01having said that bad. Yeah, they haven't been all that
04:03good over the past month against left-handed pitchers
04:05which school ball just might be one of the best if not the
04:07best in Major League Baseball top two guys in that lineup
04:10Simeon Seager as it should be at a 256 ISO and a 205 ISO
04:14through 41 at bats and 40 bats respectively. However, after
04:17that not a single player is a plus in ISO power numbers
04:21against left-handed pitching. So you should struggle there.
04:24So I know it's hard to do this. I like scuba was the better
04:27pitcher and quite frankly, neither one of these lineups
04:30excite me all that much, but I do think Deborah to me
04:32Detroit can do a little bit more damage. I'll take Detroit
04:35tonight in this game. Three school ball has been fantastic
04:39throughout this season. He is 71 with a 201 era. He is the
04:43front runner to win the American League Cy Young Award.
04:45He has made 11 starts this year for the Tigers. I said
04:48seven and one record in three of the four games. He has not
04:52recorded a decision this year. The Tigers have lost those
04:56games. So Tarek school will on the bump when he is great.
04:59The Tigers win. I would keep an eye on that number tonight.
05:03The Houston Astros struggling the Redbirds like the two
05:06teams. We mentioned in Texas today. Also just a game away
05:11a win away from an even 500 record. It is a minus 178
05:16price though in favor of Houston at home with Justin
05:19Verlander on the bump. The over-under is a we have set
05:23the same thing. I feel like for three weeks around the
05:26Astros if they're going to crawl out of this hole and
05:29they're eight games below 500. It's got to start sometime
05:32here. We are three weeks later with the same story. Yeah,
05:36they're a heavy favorite tonight too. And by the way,
05:37two average pitchers Verlander on the season to 116 X-Fit
05:40minus, which is certainly not something that we're
05:42accustomed to over the past seven to eight years. He's
05:44been absolutely phenomenal. Also, you take a look at the
05:46pitcher Kyle Gibson on the other side just your average
05:49pitcher as well. But look at Kyle Gibson on the season
05:51150 batters. He's faced. Oh 233 ISO and a 340 weighted on
05:55base percentage against lefties, you know, you can play
05:57the hits with this team. It's Kyle Tucker of 541 ISO. Yeah,
06:0177 at bats over the past month against writing the pitching
06:04Jordan Alvarez 70 at bats a 279 ISO power percentage
06:08against righties. Even John Singleton do to bat in the
06:10seventh hole a 182 as a left-handed batter and a 351
06:14weighted on base percentage. Those are the guys that are
06:16going to look forward to but also Verlander no longer
06:18scant. Ah, you can't fade Verlander. He's been too
06:21dominant. Not really the case at this point. You got a lot
06:23of left-handed batters and a lot of decent players in the
06:25lineup with right hand going up against writing the pitcher
06:28that have good statistics been over the past 30 days and
06:30also there really is something to playing on the road on
06:33Sunday night baseball then happen to fly in to take on
06:36another team in their own ballpark. So even though I
06:39don't like Houston and that price point is high. I think
06:42they probably win this game, but I do think we get some
06:44runs here. DRS on May 17th Houston had won eight of their
06:49last nine games. They were 20 and 25. We started to feel
06:52like maybe this was the Astros team. We could expect the
06:55rest of the summer turning things around from that point
06:58in 15 games. They have lost nine of them. Okay. It's a
07:01long season, but it's getting late early for the Houston
07:04Astros eight games below 500 now at 24 and 32 here at the
07:10start of June two more games to break down and a best bet
07:13for you on the other side of the break here on this Monday
07:16on the early line on SportsGrid comes away up. Only eight
07:21games today in Major League Baseball on this Monday card.
07:24We preview the final two. We have not broken down for you
07:27just yet live right here to round out our three hours on
07:30this Monday on the early line Cincinnati and Colorado at
07:33Coors Field in Denver the Rockies a slight home underdog
07:37minus 104 for the Rocks minus 112 other side for the Reds
07:42total of ten and a half. The over has the hefty juice. It's
07:45what you would expect in a mile high matchup. It is and also
07:49you take a look at Felton or on the mound here. He cannot get
07:51out left-handed batter. So you say to yourself. Is there any
07:53lefties in that Reds lineup TJ Fridell Ellie Dela Cruz
07:57Jamer Candelario Jake Fraley Nick Martini Will Benson. Hey
08:01perfect matchup. The only problem is this team stinks out
08:04loud against right-handed pitching, which is a shame here.
08:07You would love to take it and load up by the way, if there
08:09are two guys in that lineup, you would like to take it's
08:11probably going to be Candelario 246 ISO power number against
08:14right-handed pitching, but also one of those guys a lot of
08:17speed and unheralded. I love Will Benson. He's catch caught
08:20a lot of tickets for me and he usually bats in the nine hole
08:23here sort of that whole sequencing of analytics where
08:25you get that speed the flip over the top of the lineup.
08:27How about this 57 at-bats against right-handed pitching
08:30over the past month as a lefty 292 ISO 395 weighted on base
08:34percentage. Maybe will Benson's you're looking this game for
08:36an RBI DRS. I'm pretty sure Ellie Dela Cruz hasn't even had
08:40a hit this year. At least that's what I've been seeing on
08:43social media. Yeah, exactly. That's why you pass but when
08:45you see the name Ellie Dela Cruz and it even if they said
08:48tonight that Ellie Dela Cruz would get the hit off of a tee
08:50tonight. I would still take him to strike out. Yeah, that's
08:54how Donnie feels about Ellie Dela Cruz so far this year.
08:57The Reds who had a lot of promise last season. Not so
09:00much right now seven games below 500. The Rockies have
09:03the second worst record in the National League 21 and 37
09:07the Miami Marlins also only 21 wins, but a few more L's
09:13the New York Mets man who 24 and 35 now 11 games below
09:17500. They lost their final two games of their weekend set
09:20against the D-backs quickly here DRS Arizona down three to
09:24four entering the ninth inning. They had a two-run home run
09:28from Cattell Marte. It was the sixth time since May 1st, the
09:32New York Mets had a lead in the eighth inning or later and
09:36lost said baseball game. No other team around Major League
09:38Baseball has more than two. I bring that up because the Mets
09:43today trying to get a win if possible on the road in the
09:48Nation's Capital and when you're booked as an underdog
09:51against the Nationals, maybe it's a sign of the times. Yeah,
09:55by the way, Miguel does have some pretty good statistics
09:57only 64 batters on the season. So right away that tends to be
10:00an under they took a McKenzie Gore who's a left-handed
10:02pitcher who actually struggles over the past 30 days with
10:05left-handed batters, but I don't think you're going to
10:07have too many in the lineup today and probably only Nimmo.
10:09It looks like for the Mets. So this game definitely trending
10:12to an under for me Ben. Listen, the Nats haven't been terrible
10:16four games below 527 and 31, but third best record in the
10:21NL East even in front of the Mets tonight's total of the
10:24Nation's Capital is at eight.
