An enormous waterspout ripping through the Gulf of Mexico along the coast of Destin, Florida, left spectators in a state of shock and awe.

Videos of the weather phenomenon have been shared on social media, after residents were surprised, and somewhat scared, by the spectacle on their morning commutes.

The enormous funnel was spotted on Tuesday, at 7am ET (midday in the UK) off the Emerald Coast, in the area known as Panhandle, and it was reportedly sparked by intense storms flowing over the Gulf, reports the Daily Mail.

A number of residents caught the impressive scene, and posted videos to their social media, including one captured near the city of Destin by Boo Freeman, who can be heard saying: “Look at that dude, that’s a big un’.”
