00:00At least 11 flights were diverted from Brisbane Airport this morning after a thick fog created
00:08critically low visibility.
00:10Those flights were diverted to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Cairns.
00:16Many more planes were also circling around the airport hoping that conditions would ease.
00:22Visibility dropped to as low as 300 metres at the airport, meaning just three flights
00:28were able to safely land.
00:30Departing flights were still able to take off but there were delays due to low visibility
00:35on the ground.
00:37The Weather Bureau also issued an alert warning motorists the fog was creating dangerous road
00:42conditions with visibility down to 50 metres in parts of the city.
00:47It's the thickest blanket of fog seen in Brisbane since winter last year.
00:51Affected travellers are being urged to check the Brisbane Airport website for updates on
00:56arrival times.
00:58As conditions ease today it's expected those diverted flights will bring those passengers

01:07be affected.
