00:00 I watched the first episode of the show and wow,
00:03 it is powerful, it is moving, and it's your story.
00:06 I mean, is that really why you wanted to invite cameras
00:09 into your life so soon after you left prison?
00:13 Is this your opportunity to give your version of events?
00:17 - Yes, absolutely.
00:18 So, you know, from the moment that I was released
00:22 until present, you know, this has been something
00:25 that I have wanted viewers to be along this journey with me
00:29 because it has been so many ups and downs.
00:32 And, you know, going back to the prison confessions
00:35 of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, you know, that's when it started.
00:39 And then this is a continuation on.
00:42 And so, when I was about ready to get released,
00:45 I was sitting in my prison cell
00:47 and I was thinking about all this and I'm like, you know,
00:50 I am so tired of this prison version of myself
00:54 that I think people know me by and putting labels on me
00:57 that I want to kind of break that mold
00:59 and show people who I am as an individual,
01:02 take off the prison khakis, take off the ID badge,
01:05 and be presented as who I am.
01:09 - You know, I think that's so important.
01:10 And I know that you said earlier this year
01:12 that you hadn't watched the Hulu show, "The Act."
01:15 Is that still true?
01:16 And is that maybe another reason
01:18 why you wanted to do this show?
01:19 Because you can kind of set the record straight.
01:22 - Right, I watched one episode, the first episode,
01:25 and I think Joey King did an amazing job playing me.
01:29 I was a little bit harder on Patricia Arquette
01:32 playing my mom, just because it's like, it's my life.
01:36 I am very hypercritical of it.
01:38 And so, I think, you know, this show is about who I am today.
01:45 And I kind of feel like with the prison confessions,
01:49 I've already cleared up so much misinformation
01:52 as to my past.
01:54 And so this is very future-based.
