00:03 All right, Pat, some really good reporting for you guys, and
00:06 you in particular over at Legal Sports Report.
00:07 Getting on the phone with lawmakers in North Carolina,
00:10 one of the very popular collegiate athlete states.
00:14 Trying to determine whether or not you'll be able to wager on collegiate props
00:19 on all of the betting websites come this college football season.
00:22 Pat, is there any update that you've gotten on this, or
00:24 does it just seem to be status quo for the most part?
00:28 >> For the most part, it seems like it's gonna stay at least this year.
00:31 There is a bill right now in the legislature that would ban college sports
00:35 props.
00:36 Of course, as you point out, that's a huge market in North Carolina probably.
00:41 And that's all coming from the feedback we've heard from athletes,
00:44 including Armando Baycott, about harassment from sports betting losers,
00:49 I would assume.
00:50 [LAUGH] And so that made some people in North Carolina worried.
00:55 They introduced this bill.
00:56 It does not seem like it's gonna go anywhere because the main sports betting
00:59 sponsors from last year do not approve of this bill.
01:03 They're not supportive.
01:04 So it's probably not gonna get through.
01:05 And that's what a rep told me yesterday who sponsors the bill.
01:09 What she did say is there is possibility that we can work on things and
01:13 turn this bill into something more like West Virginia.
01:16 Where there's some sort of punishment for people who are harassing athletes.
01:21 And I think that's something, again, as we're moving away from worrying about
01:26 states legalizing sports betting, it's more about fine tuning the industry and
01:30 seeing what's going on.
01:31 So this is, again, kind of an issue I think you'll see a lot more next year come up
01:34 in states across the US.
01:37 >> Yeah, not easy to police that, I think, either.
01:39 But again, if that's the alternative to having it, yeah, I mean,
01:42 it's you yelled too loud at an athlete.
01:45 We're gonna punish you?
01:46 I don't know.
01:46 Doesn't sound reasonable.
01:48 All right, Pat, we'll read more about that story over at legalsportsreport.com.
01:51 Thanks again for coming on the show.
01:52 Really appreciate it.
