PBBM, hinimok ang business leaders sa Brunei na ituring ang Pilipinas bilang investment destination
Transcript
00:00 The Philippines is also considered as an investment destination.
00:03 That is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called the business leaders
00:08 for his successful state visit in Brunei.
00:11 That is what Alan Francisco recorded.
00:14 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. encouraged the business leaders in Brunei
00:20 to consider the Philippines as an investment destination.
00:23 In his visit to the Philippine Business Forum,
00:26 he reiterated the commitment of the Philippines to regional economic integration.
00:31 Just like the success story of the Filipino chain Jollibee in Brunei,
00:36 now there are 11 Halal Certified Outlets in Brunei,
00:40 which proves the appreciation of Brunei for the Filipino brand.
00:44 I am delighted to share the positive developments from the Philippines
00:49 and to discuss how we can advance and strengthen our collaboration with Brunei,
00:54 leveraging the benefits of our partnership through ASEAN,
00:58 the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement or RCEP,
01:02 and the Brunei Darussalam Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area, BIMP-IAGA,
01:09 for a prosperous shared future.
01:12 President Marcos also sees the potential in agribusiness,
01:15 renewable energy, and Halal industry development,
01:18 according to the President,
01:19 the trade and investment policy framework of the Philippines
01:22 that was established with the help of ASEAN and RCEP
01:25 is the leading agenda for regional economic integration.
01:28 President Marcos' visit to the Philippine Business Forum
01:31 is part of the government's effort to show the strong economy of the country.
01:36 It was organized by DTI in cooperation with the Agriculture Department
01:40 in the Brunei Economy Program, which is supported by the Philippine Embassy.
01:44 Before that, the media also interviewed Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco,
01:48 where she thanked President Marcos for expanding the tourism of the country,
01:53 including Brunei.
01:54 For tourism to be strong, the Philippines is also looking at direct flights from Brunei
01:59 to Cebu and Claripampanga.
02:01 Meanwhile, the President also said that they talked to Sultana Sanal Volquia
02:06 on strengthening the relationship between the Philippines and Brunei.
02:09 I am pleased to highlight that the Philippines and Brunei
02:12 are particularly focused on two key economic corridors,
02:17 the West Borneo Economic Corridor, encompassing Brunei Darussalam,
02:22 and the Greater Sulu-Sulawesi Corridor, covering Palawan and parts of Mindanao.
02:29 These corridors are strategically designed to integrate production with supply chains,
02:34 offering abundant opportunities for SMEs to flourish.
02:39 At the state banquet last night, President Marcos and Sultana Volquia also talked.
02:44 I would like to thank the hospitality that has been shown by Your Majesty
02:50 and the royal family of Brunei and the people of Brunei.
02:56 This reflects the warm relations that our countries have had for a very long time now.
03:05 It is timely that I have my first state visit as President here to Brunei.
03:12 This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.
03:19 It is also particularly important that we conduct this state visit
03:24 as we are now presently faced by many global challenges
03:29 for which Brunei and the Philippines have very many common interests.
03:34 And so it is important that we continue to work together on a bilateral basis,
03:40 also together with ASEAN, with BIM-PIAGA,
03:44 in all of these methods by which we can plan together for our own communities,
03:52 but also for the peace and the stability of the region,
03:57 and not only for Asia but for the Indo-Pacific as well.
04:01 This visit is a testament to a strong friendship and close relations
04:10 since our diplomatic relations were established 40 years ago.
04:17 I also fondly remember your first visit here in 1984
04:25 when you accompanied your late father, President Marcos Sr.,
04:31 during our inaugural National Day celebration.
04:37 The enduring ties that we enjoy at all levels today
04:43 truly reflect our shared history and accomplishments
04:49 initiated and built upon during the presidency of the late President Marcos Sr.
04:58 Since then, our countries have cooperated closely
05:04 in education, health, and people-to-people exchanges.
05:11 Brunei Darussalam is committed to further strengthen these important relations
05:18 to protect and safeguard our common aspirations.
05:23 Therefore, I'm pleased that the documents signed during your visit, Mr. President,
05:32 will further contribute to our country's continued growth and development.
05:39 The President is now traveling to Singapore for his working visit in the Shangri-La Dialogue.
05:45 The fact that they asked the Philippine President to come and speak on that very subject
05:50 is significant in the sense that it is a recognition that there are challenges
05:57 that are facing the Philippines specifically, and not only the Philippines,
06:02 but this affects the region and it affects the world.
06:04 So what I will present in the Shangri-La Forum on the day after tomorrow
06:13 is going to essentially try to explain the position of the Philippines
06:20 both legally and geopolitically and diplomatically.
06:26 From Bandar Seri Bigawan in Brunei, I'm Alan Francisco for Pabansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
