00:00Hi, I'm Sophie. I'm the Assistant Curator here at Sealife and Saturn and this is Sage.
00:05She's our first common seal pup of the 2024 season.
00:09So Sage is a premature seal pup and we know that she's premature because of the fluffy coat that she has on her.
00:15And this is a fluffy coat that should have been shed before she was born.
00:18So we know that she didn't reach full term and that might be the reason why she was abandoned
00:22and that she needs rehabilitation and help.
00:25So she was brought to us by British Divers Marine Life Rescue
00:28after a member of the public gave them a call and they were concerned.
00:31And quite clearly Sage will need our help because as a premature pup that's been abandoned, she would not survive.
00:37So that's why she's here with us now and we are really, really hopeful that we have a really good shot
00:42at giving her a full rehabilitation journey and releasing her back into the wild in the autumn.
