00:03 - Let's talk about NBA now, Cam.
00:04 We'll go to the Celtics last night.
00:06 As we know, sweep away the Indiana Pacers.
00:09 I gave you that number earlier in the show.
00:12 90% plus win probability in four,
00:16 in three out of the four games in this series
00:19 in the fourth quarter, including last night.
00:22 They had a big lead early in the fourth quarter,
00:24 but they blow it.
00:25 We're tied at 102, under a minute to go in this game.
00:29 Derek White on ESPN sending them home.
00:32 - Brown on the drive, pulls back,
00:33 lost the ball, got it back,
00:35 kicks it out wide, corner three.
00:37 Bang!
00:38 Derek White from downtown, Celtics by three.
00:41 - And there was like, I guess it was like 45 seconds left
00:45 in the game, Cam.
00:46 So Indiana had a couple of opportunities.
00:49 They even got a stop.
00:50 They just, they ran out of time.
00:51 They couldn't get any quality shots.
00:53 And here's what was kind of surprising to me, Cam,
00:55 in this whole series of these four games.
00:58 I thought the biggest advantage
01:01 Indiana had in this series was coaching.
01:05 I thought that Rick Carlisle over Missoula
01:08 was a major advantage that Indiana would,
01:11 if games were close late,
01:13 were gonna be able to exploit.
01:15 And guess what, Cam?
01:16 Couldn't have been further from the,
01:17 I mean, could, not even close.
01:19 I was on that assessment
01:20 'cause I thought Carlisle did an awful job
01:23 in all three of these melt games
01:25 that they had in this series.
01:26 Whether it was game one,
01:28 did an awful job not moving the ball up.
01:30 They had no play.
01:31 They knocked the ball out.
01:32 They lost.
01:32 You had game three where he didn't call the timeout
01:35 with Nebhard running up the court with seconds ticking off.
01:39 I thought Carlisle was awful, Cam,
01:41 in the final minute, two minutes of these games.
01:43 And that was part of,
01:44 big part of the reason why Indiana lost.
01:46 - Astute observation, Carver.
01:47 You're absolutely right.
01:48 And you think he'd outdo Missoula with Carlisle's experience
01:51 but they had no plays coming out of timeouts.
01:53 And that's the problem.
01:54 That's the sign.
01:55 When you do this stuff,
01:56 why even call a timeout if your play's gonna suck?
01:59 They're all discombobulated.
02:00 It was brutal, but great call by you.
02:02 Boston got it done.
02:03 And Indiana really threw away opportunities in this series.
02:06 It should have been a lot damn closer than it was,
02:08 but that's life.
02:09 Boston moves on and we'll see, man.
02:11 Whoever they, hey, if they meet Dallas in the West,
02:13 I think the Boston Celtics,
02:15 ah, you beat all these lesser lights in the East,
02:17 you gotta deal with a real team in the West.
02:19 So we'll see what happens, buddy.
02:21 - Oh, I'm on Dallas, Cam.
02:23 And I know that's not just me.
02:24 I know I'm letting the future do the talking
02:26 a little bit there.
02:27 I understand that.
02:29 If I didn't have the ticket on the Mavericks,
02:32 I would still be, I would be backing them now.
02:34 I'd be jumping in plus 200, right?
02:36 I'd be going in on Dallas.
02:37 I might go in for even more, Cam.
02:39 Double dip, take another trip to the window on the Mavericks
02:43 'cause I do think that they're gonna beat the Celtics
02:45 if that ends up being the matchup.
02:46 Jalen Brown was the MVP of the East finals.
02:51 He had 29 points in the closeout game last night.
02:54 Of course, there was a lot of talk about him
02:56 the last few days, not being named to the all,
02:58 any of the all NBA teams.
03:01 He wasn't named to this team.
03:03 He wasn't named to that.
03:04 Here he is last night, Cam, still seeming,
03:07 I guess not that happy, not that thrilled,
03:10 even though he won the MVP of the East.
03:11 Here's Jalen Brown.
03:12 - I think I'm one of the best two way wings, guards,
03:15 whatever you wanna say in this game.
03:16 You know, I thought this year I've taken a level
03:19 and I've increased it.
03:20 I took the matchup.
03:21 I picked up guys full court.
03:22 I chased guys off screens.
03:24 I battled with bigs and I felt like
03:26 I should have been all defensive.
03:28 And that probably hurt me the most
03:30 'cause that's one of the things that I set out
03:32 in the season that I wanted to be.
03:34 But you know, as time has gone by and I got to this point,
03:37 like I just, I stopped caring and I just embrace.
03:41 I don't care who sees what,
03:43 as long as my team knows my value,
03:44 my city knows my value, my family.
03:46 That's all I really care about.
03:48 But you know, I like to set my hat on
03:52 just being a versatile two way wing
03:54 and can do both at any point in time.
03:58 And the last kind of four minutes of this game,
04:01 kinda, you saw that.
04:03 - Wow. - You know,
04:05 look Cam, I think Jalen Brown's a really, really good player.
04:10 - Agreed.
04:11 - He's completely lying to you right there
04:13 and telling you that he doesn't care about all this stuff
04:15 because he's the one who brings it up a lot of the time.
04:19 - He's just complaining about it for a few minutes.
04:20 - So for him to say he doesn't care about it.
04:21 - But obviously you care about it.
04:23 No, you're right.
04:24 - He cares about it.
04:25 And I don't blame him.
04:26 You know what Cam, he should care about it.
04:28 That's fine.
04:29 If that's what's fueling the fire
04:31 and is gonna help him lead the Celtics to a championship,
04:34 by all means, go ahead and do it.
04:35 But don't sit there and say you don't care
04:37 because you clearly do care.
04:39 You're showing that you care.
04:40 - Great call, Carver.
04:41 But another thing too, is it's a team game.
04:43 You got to worry about everybody else on the team
04:45 and give them credit too.
04:46 You take care of your business, but you're right.
04:48 You mentioned it off the top.
04:49 You don't mention something you don't care about,
04:51 but the bottom line is keep doing what you're doing.
04:52 Sometimes you need motivation for stuff, as you said,
04:55 and if it pisses them off and makes them play better,
04:57 so be it.
04:58 - Let's hear next from Jason Tatum.
05:02 Of course, the Celtics, Cam, will be taking this group,
05:05 we should say, will be taking their second trip
05:08 to the NBA finals.
05:09 They lost to the Warriors a few years back.
05:12 Tatum never taking this stuff for granted,
05:14 loves that they're back with a chance to win a title.
05:17 - Obviously going back to the finals,
05:18 special accomplishment for you guys.
05:20 What's, is there a difference?
05:21 Is it kind of like the same type of emotions?
05:24 What's that like for you?
05:26 - It's special, right?
05:27 Even though we've been there before, most of us have,
05:30 you don't take it for granted, right?
05:31 We were excited.
05:33 It was the hell of a team we just played.
05:35 They made us earn every single game
05:37 and we're extremely grateful to move on to the finals.
05:41 - You know, they're a very good team, Cam.
05:46 I'm not going to sit here and try to tell you
05:47 that the Celtics aren't as good,
05:49 'cause I know there's a lot of people trying to do that,
05:52 but you are going to hear a lot over the next 10 days
05:56 until they finally play these games,
05:58 that they beat Miami without Butler,
06:00 that they beat Cleveland without Mitchell,
06:02 that they beat Indiana without Halliburton.
06:05 Indiana basically threw up all over themselves
06:07 the end of those games.
