Cyclist Laurence Toombs discusses the abuse and threats riders face on the roads of Kent
Transcript
00:00It's quite frightening if a car or a vehicle comes too close and there is no need for verbal abuse.
00:09We're trying to get from A to B just the same as they are. We'll do our best to avoid conflict
00:19and if a car is behind us, and we know we don't want that car behind us
00:23any more than that car wants to be behind us, so we will move off the road as soon as it's safe for
00:29us to do so and a safe enough place for the car to get past us. I'm still recovering from a
00:36fractured thumb and some quite severe damage to my shoulder. Fortunately no brakes, a lot of muscle
00:43and tendon damage, so that's slowly getting there. It's been quite painful, so I anticipate probably
00:51another three weeks minimum before I'm back cycling again.
