The protest camp at the ANU has moved overnight. Steve Evans assesses what it means.
Transcript
00:00This is the new camp. It's about 200 metres from the old one.
00:05This camp, though, is not at the centre of the university.
00:09It's not on a thoroughfare.
00:11People don't have to take notice of it.
00:14Whereas the previous camp was right at the hub of the university.
00:19Is it a climb down?
00:21They were certainly split about the thing.
00:24There were certainly students who said,
00:26no, we're going to sit tight, let the police move us.
00:30But having said all that, the students did win a concession.
00:36ANUSA, the ANU Students' Association, and the university authorities
00:42will go to the university's council
00:45and make a proposal about divesting from arms companies,
00:49about selling the university's shares in arms companies.
00:54So, maybe common sense broke out. Who knows?
00:59But these people have made the university rethink its policy.
01:06Whether that rethink actually changes the action of the university
01:11is another matter.
