00:00Hi I'm Dominic May, I'm the Acting Chair of the Newcastle Tourism Industry Group and tonight we're at the second annual Newcastle Hospitality and Tourism Awards.
00:11We're celebrating the outstanding successes of our industries, both individuals and organisations across the city of Newcastle who have had an incredible 12 months and done some amazing work in our city. So we're celebrating them tonight.
00:24Advertising effective partnerships, she has been educating future tourism professionals and conducting research aligned to growing the Newcastle visitor economy.
00:35The prize features two return air tickets to Melbourne, sponsored by Newcastle Airport and two nights accommodation at the Holiday Inn Express Little Collins Street in Melbourne from Holiday Inn. Congratulations Tamara.

01:04I can't believe I'm standing here, like Marty said, someone who's not currently working in tourism and hospital industry, but for a very long time I have been working in educating the future leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry.
01:20So this is so exciting. So I've got like current students in the room, Ethan, Sienna, I'm not going to call you all out.
01:29Ellie, that's amazing, you know, like I'm looking at these people who I saw as young students and I'm still teaching first year students and third year students and so it's amazing to see them in leadership roles and I don't want to take full ownership of Dominic May's success, but I taught him too.
01:52Thank you. Industry partnerships are absolutely vital to what we do at the University of Newcastle.
01:58So being a part of the Newcastle Tourism Industry Group, working with you guys, working with council, working with Georgia and her team and, you know, the things we did through COVID for the visitor economy.
02:10I just feel absolutely thrilled to be here.
