Homeowner finds 'meteorite' after seeing green light in the sky

A Yorkshire homeowner has told of his shock after watching a suspected meteorite burst through the sky and land next to his property.

00:00It was early on bank holiday Monday the 6th of May and I was outside looked up in the sky

00:06and I saw a bright light and I thought originally that might be a firework.

00:15I was even looking for this stick at the back of it but it no it wasn't it came straight down

00:20then it had a like a green hue around it what I distinctly remember is like the

00:26sound it's like the burning sound and I thought well that's strange.

00:32I looked it up googled it meteorite storms and they said basically it's part of it could be

00:39a meteorite storm from Haley's Comet which which comes over every I don't know how many years

00:47and that was it really so yeah I saw it come fall behind my house in in in Outwood and I

00:55thought I'd go have a little look for it so the next day I went to the adjacent street

01:02and I found this in in the road picked it up it was warm it smelt burnt and it's got a bit of

01:09weight to it as well so yeah brought it home and wrapped it in some tinfoil and now I've

01:15I've brought it to Professor Kelly at Leeds University just to just to verify it validate

01:22it and and go from there really.
