00:03 Tour win number three
00:06 what a champion what a champion
00:11 on the bike it is pure ruthlessness but with a light touch
00:16 the way he behaves on and off the bike it is greatness
00:20 but it is carried out with a smile the delight in his own ability we can all
00:25 share in it today Pogacar this moment has enlivened the Giro d'Italia
00:31 it's what we all came to see I think
00:34 they stand they wave and they salute a 21st century cycling marvel
00:41 a story that could be written by only one man here in Italy over the last
00:46 three weeks the incomparable Tadej Pogacar
00:51 completes the journey absolutely wonderful scenes here look at
00:58 that crowning moment for Tadej Pogacar as he
01:01 lifts his Colnago Rosa bike above his head
01:06 he's done it he's done it he's done it again
01:11 thank you
01:17 marvel
01:25 so five minutes behind schedule we get the race underway it's a relatively long
01:29 neutralized start today 5.9 kilometers in length
01:33 Tadej Pogacar pulling out a pink extra layer is he going to pull that one on
01:38 over the top of everything I think he's rolling it up rolling it up
01:41 yeah yeah
01:45 so no news of any riders not starting today and I hope for all these riders
01:49 sake they make it to Rome now yeah been a long journey and we're very
01:53 very close to the end not quite to his liking perhaps that's a
01:56 slightly different bike as well so that's an all pink one he would he
01:59 had a pink decals on it yesterday but that's all pink so
02:02 slightly different looking bike maybe it's not quite
02:05 adjusted right
02:08 so it looks like they're just uh adjusting the stem maybe it's not quite
02:13 straight so that is a new bike for Tadej Pogacar
02:18 and again normally they'll get an all yellow red or pink custom bike for the
02:23 final stage and suggest to me that bike is going to want to ride to
02:26 victory today that's quite significant actually
02:28 it's quite a statement bike isn't it yeah you don't just uh you don't just
02:31 cruise around in the bunch on that bike on the uh on the
02:37 bike
02:40 so
02:43 so
02:46 so
02:49 so
02:52 hey
03:01 okay
03:11 okay
03:14 okay
03:18 okay
03:22 okay
03:25 okay
03:39 okay
03:42 so
03:56 wow
04:00 wow
04:04 oh
04:07 oh
04:22 oh
04:25 hey
04:43 so
04:46 which you know there's quite a few quite a few euros it's less about the points
05:10 i think more about the cash prize it's put
05:13 amongst the team as we saw
05:18 uh
05:24 wow
05:33 wow
05:36 well that was interesting wasn't it that was saw i tell you what that was a
05:47 real flex national group of fans here slovenian bus
05:53 country flags being waved in the face of these riders
05:55 let's just sit back and listen for a second or two
05:59 so
06:02 so there's an opportunity for jan here now if you can hold in
06:14 uh to eat into the time gap that he's got to try and make up to take
06:17 a ninth place from and a connor swift as well doing a superb performance today
06:23 pogacar issuing instructions yeah what does he want from very good
06:27 stock a langan yeah a stuffed fox with a pink neckerchief on a plinth yep
06:32 being held aloft by a man with a pink trilby on only could this happen in the
06:36 sport of cycling yeah he obviously thought that through this
06:38 morning i'll tell you i think i'll take the fox up onto the mountain yeah put a
06:41 scarf on it and run behind the leaders fantastic over the top of this climb just
06:46 gaps the belgian yeah consummate insolent ease and
06:49 pelicani attacking from the peloton with his teammate on his
06:54 wheel now gets ready for the descent he takes 40 points he moves comfortably
06:58 clear into second place and actually just 42 was it 42
07:03 his teammates tonnelli and uh sanchez too put under pressure here by the
07:08 flying italian who might just uh go solo now
07:12 it's a good response from sanchez he's digging in yeah he knows that this is a
07:16 slightly shorter effort now try and stay in front get onto the wheel
07:21 of this youngster just and let him set the pace as well
07:23 what remains of this stage is like a turbocharged edition of il lombardia
07:27 isn't it and we know who's won that for the last couple of years
07:31 yeah very similar to last three years isn't it three years yeah
07:35 tadej pogacar specializes in days like today and he's earmarked
07:40 stage 20 quite clearly for a big demonstration of what he's all about
07:45 there's the peloton pick and sorry impressive ride from him
07:48 van seven is still there and so too is yan hirt
07:53 making sure he's fueled well tonnelli will sit on the front and i'm sure take
07:57 the interjudo here yeah he should do shouldn't he
07:59 sanchez won't bother nope and indeed he does so tonnelli takes
08:04 the interjudo that's the last of the intermediate sprint
08:07 points all that remains now is the well it's not actually it's gonna feel
08:10 as if this this lad looks a lot more fluid
08:13 and he's in the early break again today wasn't he and there's a difference there
08:16 because uh pelizzari has attacked over the top of
08:19 the montegrappa climb he's making ue team emirates work now
08:22 regardless of the outcome he has put ue team emirates under pressure he has he's
08:26 look he's he's still sprightly yep he's still revving that gear
08:30 beautifully hasn't missed a beat at all as he goes
08:35 four kilometers to go from the top and pogacar
08:38 goes on the montegrappa we have waited all day for this moment
08:42 he is off in pursuit of history once again
08:45 he has one rider ahead of him on the road the youngest rider than
08:50 in the giro d'italia very very quickly as we saw even gerard thomas struggling
08:54 to stay with his wheel and here turning a big gear out of the
08:56 saddle can't do anything other than just hope
09:00 that he can hang on to that rear wheel of michael
09:02 storer who has not looked better than he has done today
09:05 in the whole of the giro d'italia rocketing up the gc standings indeed
09:09 well there's uh we've they've actually stripped away
09:11 bar team did in proud today once again that's the top of the climb
09:17 and that is not the last climb of the giro d'italia but very nearly and he has
09:21 used it once again quite astoundingly to his advantage over
09:24 the top he goes with a one minute 44 lead
09:27 over second place danny martinez who's in the company of
09:30 i know rubio and uh and tony little bits of maths going on in the top 10
09:36 aaron's been fighting on his own it's a good ride from uh rubio and tiberi
09:40 to get across to danny martinez so he hasn't got the road all on his own now
09:43 no danny martinez got company and we've also got that little flat
09:47 section as well to try and regroup on at the bottom of this climb
09:50 an entirely new chapter in the long storied history of the giro d'italia
09:54 the race organizers would have hoped for an exhibition like this and he has
09:57 delivered yep all the eyes of the world on the man in
10:02 pink and in turn of course on the giro d'italia
10:06 is the biggest rider in the world the highest paid rider in the world he
10:11 entertains tour win number three
10:15 what a champion what a champion on the bike it is pure ruthlessness but
10:23 with a light touch the way he behaves on and off the bike
10:28 it is greatness but it is carried out with a smile
10:32 the delight in his own ability we can all share in it today pogacar
