Trump's Classified Documents Case Hearing Erupts in Chaos and Shouting Matches Over Alleged Threat Against Defense Attorney

A hearing in Donald Trump's classified documents case turned chaotic as lawyers argued over claims of an alleged threat against a defense attorney. Walt Nauta, Trump's co-defendant and valet, asked the judge to dismiss the charges against him, claiming that special counsel Jack Smith's office had vindictively and selectively charged him. The hearing devolved into mayhem over a disagreement about an August 2022 meeting between prosecutor Jay Bratt and Nauta's defense attorney Stanley Woodward. Woodward claimed that Bratt had tried to convince Nauta to cooperate with prosecutors against Trump by threatening to affect Woodward's possible nomination for a judgeship. Judge Cannon has indefinitely delayed his trial, which is unlikely to occur before the election.
