This High-Tech Collar Could Help You Understand Your Dog!

00:00Ever wonder what your dog is thinking or what they're trying to tell you through

00:05their barks? Well, South Korean tech startup Petpoles has developed an

00:09algorithm they say can help humans better understand their animals. This

00:13caller listens to each bark a dog makes, sending it to the Petpoles main server

00:16where their bark recognition system and AI analyze its contents. It's then sent

00:21to the dog's owner's smartphone where they can get a better understanding of

00:24what their dog is trying to communicate. Andrew Gill, the director of global

00:28marketing at Petpoles lab had this to say about the device.

00:31Peppers give a dog voice that a human can understand. With this device, we

00:37humans can understand and communicate better, more accurately, more effectively.

00:44Adding that while a dog bark usually signifies some need for the animal, the

00:48Petpole caller also has an activity tracker and rest tracker to monitor an

00:52animal's non-vocal behaviors as well. The company began gathering dog bark data

00:56way back in 2017, now having a database of over 10,000 samples from 50 dog

01:01breeds and dog owners have been pretty surprised by the results. With one saying

01:05that while she always imagined her dog was happy when she played and sat her

01:08anxious when her owner wasn't home, the Petpoles device gave her better insight,

01:11showing some anger when the dog lost a game and often showing that her dog felt

01:15safe even when her owner wasn't home.
