00:00My dad was a toolmaker, so he worked in a factory, and my mum was a nurse,
00:05but she was also, sadly, very ill, and so she couldn't work for very long.
00:10It was tough going at times, and one of the things that helps me
00:15in the cost-of-living crisis we're going through now
00:18is knowing what it's like to struggle to make ends meet,
00:22knowing what it's like. In our case, our phone was cut off.
00:25So then went on the most incredible journey that took me into
00:28being an advocate for many years, and then going to work in Northern Ireland
00:33on the Good Friday Agreement for five years with the police service
00:36in Northern Ireland, an incredible piece of history.
00:38Then heading up the Crown Prosecution Service for public service,
00:41and then into politics, and now leading the Labour Party.
00:45I was very clear in my mind when I took over as leader of the Labour Party
00:50that I had a huge task to change the Labour Party.
00:54What's the positive vision? What's the change we want to see?
00:57With an incoming Labour government.
01:00I came into politics to serve, to get things done,
01:04to strive each and every day to make a difference to the lives of working people.
01:10I grew up working class. I've been fighting all my life, and I won't stop now.
01:17I've felt the anxiety of a cost-of-living crisis before,
01:20and until your family can see the way out, I will fight for you.
01:24That's my mission, and we will do it.
01:26Thank you.
