00:00 The opportunity to kind of bring my knowledge and skills on economic development
00:05 into the day-to-day operation of a city council really excited me and I had the
00:11 opportunity so I thought I could bring something to the role.
00:15 If we look at the city council itself, we've got some very large delivery
00:20 programs to deliver so through the Truro town deal we'll lead on the
00:25 Pascown Park sports hub projects that's a 5.3 million pound development of a
00:30 sports hub facility at Pascown Park. We're also looking at a 3.2 million pound
00:36 scheme to help deliver new life for city buildings in the town in the city
00:41 centre so that's about converting the space above the shops and those sort of
00:44 things. So we've got some major grant programs to deliver and I think that's
00:48 where my my previous experience really plays into that. A background from a
00:54 farming background originally but left the family farm to go off and see the
00:58 world and spent the last 25 years working with farmers, food businesses,
01:04 rural communities and to help the economic development in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
01:12 I'm proud of the commitment that the team has got here. The councillors
01:17 elected for a four-year period we were in the third or just about to enter into
01:22 the fourth year of that period. They've got a clear plan that was set when they
01:27 when they came when they were elected. One of the strata we have at Truro is
01:33 it's a great little city. What I want to have is a great City Council delivering
01:39 what residents and visitors to Truro want to see, ensuring that people feel
01:44 they're getting value for money for their precept and can see positive
01:48 change whilst all the team are happy, fulfilled and empowered to do their work.
01:55 That's what success looks like for me.
