00:00 With Rishi Sunak announcing last night that there will be an election on July 4th, I've
00:05 come to the galleries in Washington to see what people think about the decision, who
00:09 they're going to vote for and what they think will be the key areas of the battleground
00:12 determining who will be successful.
00:17 Okay then Peter, obviously a general election's being called, who are you going to vote for
00:20 do you think then?
00:21 I'm going to vote for Labour.
00:22 Are you always a traditional Labour voter?
00:24 Always been, yes.
00:25 And what do you think needs to be tackled by whichever government gets in?
00:28 Well, their NHS, immigration and cost of living.
00:35 And do you think it's time for a change?
00:37 Definitely.
00:39 And do you think Labour will get in?
00:41 Definitely.
00:42 Okay, I know you mentioned you're a traditional Labour voter, have you decided who you're
00:47 going to vote for this time?
00:48 I'm still undecided at the minute, but I think I possibly would go with the Tory party.
00:57 And what's your reasons for that at the moment?
00:59 I think the NHS needs sorting out and I think the Conservative party have got them in this
01:06 situation, I think it's up to them to dig them out.
01:09 Do you think whoever gets elected will have a poison chalice in terms of what they need
01:12 to sort out with the country?
01:13 I think it kind of is, so whoever does win, they've got a big job to do.
01:21 Okay you mentioned that you're traditionally a Conservative voter, so why do you think
01:24 Rishi Sunak has made the decision to go for the general election now then?
01:28 I think it just suits his personality to surprise people and get in there and try and win the
01:36 election before it's even at its finality, you know, I just think he's trying to get
01:46 in there before the opposition.
01:49 And you say traditionally you're a Conservative voter, will you be voting for other Conservatives
01:53 this time?
01:54 More than likely, yes.
01:55 And how do you think we've performed in the term in office over the last five years?
01:59 As good as can be expected under the circumstances.
02:02 All right. All right.
