Heartfall Arises is a Chinese-Hong Kong suspense crime action drama film directed by Ng Ban-yu (吳品儒) and starring Nicholas Tse Ting-fung (謝霆鋒), Sean Lau Ching-wan (劉青雲), Tong Li Ya (佟丽娅), Mavis Fan Hiu-huen (范曉萱) and Vengo Gao Wei Guang (高伟光).
Hotshot police detective Ma Chun (Nicholas) is critically injured while pursuing a serial killer known as "General" (Vengo). With his life on the line, John undergoes a heart transplant.
A year and a half later, numerous murder cases similar to General's ruthless methods continue to occur around the world, even though General is supposedly dead. Despite not being fully recovered, Ma teams up with criminal psychology professor Che Kar-wai (Sean) to investigate the serial killings. However, in the course of the investigation, the two begin to engage in a tense battle of wits. Kar-wai, a proponent of the cellular memory theory, displays especial interest in the effects of Ma's heart transplant while, Ma discovers that Kar-wai may be harboring a secret of his own.
