A man flew from the US to the UK for just 24 HOURS - to reunite with his old university friends.

Kevin Droniak, 26, flew from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, to Gatwick Airport in London, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 6pm.

He had been due to spend the week in London but his grandma, had a fall and needed his help getting to appointments.

Instead of missing the trip completely, Kevin decided to board a six-hour flight and spend 24 hours in London - where he had afternoon tea and rode a double decker bus.

He boarded the 8am flight back home on May 10 - and says his flying visit was "worth it".

Kevin, a content creator, from New York City, US, said: "Since the clock was ticking when I arrived, it was a jam-packed day, there wasn't much sitting around.

"If you have a large amount of time to travel you often want to relax but I was like 'let's go'.

"It was a fun day. It felt like a dream because when I got back I was like 'I can't believe I did that."

Kevin was due to spend a week in London in May but due to his grandma's fall had to help take her to appointments.

Instead of missing out entirely, Kevin decided to make a whistle stop tour of London and catch up with old friends.

He said: "I am not bothered by plane rides at all, I love being in the plane.

"I was going to be in London for the week anyway but I had to comprise my trip as my grandma said she needed my help

"I thought I would go for the day, get it out of my system and have some fun there."

Kevin made the six-hour plane journey from JFK to Gatwick on May 8 and arrived at 6am on May 9.

He said: "I studied in London for a term in 2018 and I have a bunch of friends there.

"We went for afternoon tea which I know if pretty basic for British people and then we went for dinner and went out."

The following day at 6am Kevin had to be up to get a seven-hour flight back to New York.

He said: "It was completely worth it - I would do it again.

"Six hours works in your favour going from New York to London, you just fall asleep and wake up and then when you come back you gain hours."

00:00 If you don't travel often, you're gonna have a conniption at what I'm doing right now.
00:03 I'm going to London for just one night.
00:05 That's why I'm heading to the airport with Jessica Backpack.
00:07 I'm going for only 24 hours because I found a cheap flight and why not?
00:11 And you know how much I love a quick trip.
00:12 So I'm at the airport and even the check-in lady was like,
00:14 "Are you seriously flying across the world for one night?"
00:16 Okay, here's my logic.
00:17 So my flight is only six and a half hours and it's a red-eye.
00:20 And I'm gonna be going to sleep anyway tonight.
00:22 So I might as well just sleep on a plane and wake up in London.
00:25 Good morning.
00:26 Good morning, London.
00:27 That's it. No one else.
00:28 Really.
00:29 I made it to London.
00:30 What am I doing here, honestly?
00:33 I want to break the stigma of having to vlog out a week to travel somewhere.
00:36 It's not that serious and you can have fun for a quick trip.
00:39 And now I'm on a double-decker bus and I'm just gonna enjoy the day.
00:43 Here's how I spent my 24 hours in London.
00:45 Like, literally, I flew in at 6 a.m. and was flying back home at 6 a.m. the next day.
00:49 So the clock was ticking and I immediately went to high tea to wake up some more.
00:52 And I spent like three hours here with my friends.
00:54 And I know it's kind of touristy, but high tea is seriously one of my favorite things to do in London.
00:58 It just makes me feel so bougie.
00:59 But I will say the pastries here were a little strange.
01:02 After the tea, I hopped on the tube and got off at Notting Hill
01:05 because it's such a charming neighborhood for a stroll.
01:07 And I love endlessly walking around London.
01:09 It is just so picturesque.
01:11 And I got lucky because it was such a sunny day today.
01:13 Like, imagine if it was pouring rain the one day that I was here.
01:15 And honestly, I just wandered around the whole day.
01:17 And of course, I had to get some fish and chips for dinner.
01:19 And I ended the night bar hopping with friends until my phone died.
01:22 And before I knew it, I was back on the plane at 6 a.m. thinking to myself,
01:26 "Like, was this worth it?"
01:27 And I thought about it, and honestly, yes.
01:29 Because the flight was only $350,
01:31 and I would have spent that much going out on a weekend in New York.
01:33 And now I have a memory that I'll never forget.
