A look at Liverpool’s stance ahead of the summer transfer window as there could be departures for key players who may view the end of Klopp’s time, the end of theirs also. There has to be some stability though to ensure Liverpool can still compete in the future.

00:00 Exciting times ahead for Liverpool, a new era after this young club. It could be quite a big summer, it could be quite an interesting summer where more players go.
00:13 We are yet to see, of course. But in terms of the contract situations at the club, who's looking towards the end of the contract?
00:22 Obviously the big one, Mo Salah. What can you tell us is the latest with Liverpool's contract situation?
00:28 It's an interesting one in terms of contracts at Liverpool because the players who are, you probably expect are going to be moving on.
00:36 This summer, Thiago Alcantara is one that there's little hope that he'll be handed a new deal. It looks virtually impossible.
00:45 The midfielder, for all his quality, all of his silky skills, etc, he just hasn't been fit.
00:53 He played once for Liverpool, that was a five-minute cameo away in Arsenal where he ended up finishing at centre-back after Liverpool had had a man sent off.
01:02 When he arrived from Bayern Munich in 2020, I think it was a real top sign.
01:11 It was different for Liverpool because he was a player who was in his prime and Liverpool don't normally go out and get players like that.
01:17 They normally get players who are on their upper care. For the most part, his hand-feel career just hasn't stayed fit enough and it's been absolutely horrific for him.
01:26 For the best part of a year now, he's won a pair. That's 21-22 season. He was voted in the PFA team of the year.
01:34 He only played 25 times in the Premier League. That shows how good he was that season.
01:38 It looks like he's moving on. Joel Matip is an interesting one. He's been out since December.
01:45 When he did his ACL, Ian Clopp said he expected the club to show the class and hand Joel Matip a new deal.
01:52 I wouldn't say just yet that Matip will be leading the club. It's an interesting one really.
01:59 You would like to think that FSG maybe will give him a deal if he wants to, because he might look at a new manager coming in and think,
02:06 'Do I want to prove myself? I'm 32-33 now. Do I want to maybe go elsewhere and play more football?'
02:13 He was playing a fair bit before he got injured. It was just unlucky. It might just be the balls in his course, basically, in terms of what he does for his future.
02:22 You've got Adrian, the third-choice goalkeeper. If Adrian wants to stay, I dare say that Arnie Slott, who's coming in, would probably say, 'Yeah, that's fine.'
02:30 He'll be a third-choice goalkeeper. He's experienced, goes around the group, knows the club.
02:36 He needs an experienced keeper for a third choice or maybe to fit homegrown rules.
02:44 You think, 'You've been great, but we're going to go and get an older English keeper,' say, maybe like Manchester City and Scott Carson do.
02:51 Those are the three out of contract this summer. Maybe two of them might stay, but it's up in the air really.
