Fences go up after another lake wall collapse at Crookes Valley Park. Residents call for repairs at popular site

00:00 Crookes Valley Park is a popular Sheffield beauty spot but as you'll see

00:05 behind me fences have been erected around the water where some parts of the

00:13 lake banking have collapsed. I've been speaking to some park users and they

00:20 tell me that they think it's time that something was done to fix the problem.

00:23 Could you tell me if you think it's important that the lake of Crookes Valley

00:27 Park is fixed so that people can access the water, can get close to the

00:30 water again? Oh sure, so before recording I was just telling you that we've been

00:36 coming here for four years now and we love it here and one of the main reasons

00:41 we love it here is the water and in the centre and it's the main point of the

00:46 Crookes Valley Park so I really hope that it remains in the state that it is and it

00:51 gets better. We know that there are problems around it but we hope it gets

00:55 fixed and it remains the beautiful watery scene that you see here. Do you

01:01 think that it's time that the banks here of the lake in Crookes Valley Park were

01:05 fixed? I think it is yeah, it's been there a long time and it spoils the park

01:11 for people. Is that the barriers and the fences that's there at the moment?

01:14 Barriers and the fences, it's just a bit of an eyesore really. How

01:19 important is the lake to people here? I think it's very important particularly

01:23 in the summer months. As you can see today there's a lot of people. Do you

01:29 think that the lake here at Crookes Valley Park needs to be fixed so that

01:32 the fences can be removed? I think it's very important because the fences don't

01:37 look nice, it takes away from the ambience and the lake is very important

01:42 to Crookes Valley Park because it makes the park unique in its own way. Could you

01:49 tell me, should the council fix the banking here at Crookes Valley Park so

01:54 they can remove the barriers? I think it would be nice if they could get rid of

02:00 the barriers just so it's easier to sit by the lake, especially in the summer. How

02:04 important is the lake here at Crookes Valley Park? I think it's quite important, it's

02:08 just a nice place to come and sit, having a break from exams. People go swimming in it, you can probably see people swimming.

02:14 It's a lovely environment to be in and it brings the view as well, having the grazing all along.
