00:00If Democrats win this election and you have the gavel next year, would you bring up legislation
00:05to make changes to the Supreme Court, whether it's term limits, code of ethics, adding
00:10seats?
00:11I'm curious what your thinking is on that.
00:13From the standpoint of the House Democratic agenda in the future as it relates to the
00:18Supreme Court, I think it's our view, led by current ranking members Jerry Nadler and
00:26Jamie Raskin, that we do need oversight of this Supreme Court that has undermined freedom
00:37in many instances, including a woman's freedom to make her own reproductive health care decisions.
00:44And there have been several documented instances of seemingly corrupt behavior without any
00:53consequence.
00:55At minimum, in our system of checks and balances with separate and co-equal branches of government,
01:04it is Congress's responsibility to engage in responsible oversight over the judicial
01:11branch.
01:12And I certainly think that the first opportunity we have to do just that, we will not shy away
01:19from oversight, but we will engage in it.
01:25Thank you.
