00:00It's been a huge role.
00:02Of course, it's changed my life.
00:05You put so much into it, and so it still doesn't
00:09quite seem real that it's all over.
00:12Having more people to miss means having more people to love.
00:17You're right.
00:19Our lives will never be the same again.
00:22They'll be better.
00:24Sean has evolved a huge amount,
00:27and that's been one of the joys of playing him, actually.
00:29I think the naive, innocent guy who shows up
00:33at the very beginning of the pilot,
00:34having never lived in this big city
00:36and had a job in quite the same way,
00:38has changed so much, both in his personal
00:41and also his professional life.
00:43And that's been really exciting to play.
00:45The constant changes, the constant evolution.
00:48My brother taught me that just because you love somebody
00:52doesn't mean you get to love them forever.
00:56The public fell in love with Dr. Murphy
00:59and that's a tribute to Freddie Highmark.
01:01What he did with the character was remarkable,
01:03and it's been so cool to watch this character
01:07I don't think we'd ever seen on TV before, anything like that,
01:10become a touchstone that people refer to
01:13and, frankly, people want to be like.
01:15I think that also has gone to counter a misconception
01:20about autism.
01:21Of course, Sean has autism, and he always will,
01:25but that doesn't mean that he can't change
01:28and evolve and grow and learn as a human being
01:31as all of us can.
01:32I am still different.
01:34I will always have autism,
01:38but now I'm proud of that.
01:42You will always be an addict, even if you stop using drugs.
01:47But Dr. Glassman sees you can be more.
01:54Why can't you?
01:56And sometimes on this show, what I've loved
01:57is that those big moments for Sean, his progression,
02:01have been small, little, understated things,
02:04like, for example, the end of season one
02:06where he gives Dr. Glassman a hug for the first time.
02:09And it was so meaningful for him to be able to do that
02:14that even though for someone else that might be
02:17a small way to end a particular scene,
02:20for us it was enough to end an entire season with,
02:23and I'll certainly miss those little moments,
02:26those nuances that people feel like they connect to him
02:29and see a little bit of themselves represented in him.
02:31That has been a really joyful and meaningful experience.
