00:00 What made you want to play the world's laziest cat?
00:03 Because I've got to say, lazy is not a word I would use to describe you,
00:08 because you never seem to stop working.
00:10 Oh, thank you. Well, I, you know, there are, I've had some wonderful lazy seasons in my life,
00:15 so I can relate to the laziness of Garfield and, you know, the satiation of hunger through
00:22 any means necessary, lying down and eating pizzas and lasagnas. I've been that guy before.
00:28 It's a fun place to be, but I'm more of the pampered version of Garfield now.
00:33 I've definitely become an indoor cat, being a Hollywood guy, you know. I've
00:37 absolutely been taken care of by an entire team who puts my looks together and my hair and my
00:42 makeup. It's like, you know, I'm very pampered. It's a hard life.
00:46 It's a, oh, you have no idea how truly hard. It's pretty great. It's pretty great. Yeah,
00:53 Mark Dindle, who's our director, he'd been working on this as they do in animation for
00:58 years before ever assigning any voice talent to it. He told me, "I've always pictured you in this
01:03 role." And as he was putting this thing together, he thought he heard my voice coming out of
01:08 Garfield's mouth. And to me, I think, "Wow, that's great. This is what the director wants.
01:13 It's a pretty easy pull. I go in and I show up and I say the words." And so it was a perfect fit for
01:19 me.
