00:00 There will always be imperfections in any movie, sometimes plot holes, loose ends or
00:05 general issues with the story that don't quite make sense, and this is where the audience's
00:10 disbelief needs to be appropriately suspended. This can be difficult however when a character
00:15 just disappears without a trace. It happens more often than you think. But what about
00:20 over the last 5 years? So let's dive in, as I'm Adam from WhatCulture and here are
00:25 8 Recent Movie Characters That Just Disappeared.
00:28 8. The Underminer - Incredibles 2 There have been a handful of franchises within
00:33 the realms of Pixar that have seen something of a revival after many, many years. Toy Story
00:39 3 came out 11 years after Toy Story 2, there were 12 and 13 years between Monsters Inc.
00:45 and Monsters U, and Finding Nemo and Finding Dory respectively, and joining this list is
00:50 The Incredibles. 14 years after the original movie cut short the titular family's fight
00:55 with the Underminer, Incredibles 2 picked up exactly where the narrative left off. Tony
01:00 Reidinger was in the custody of Rick Dicker and told of the fight that had ensued.
01:05 In 2003, the Underminer only appeared at the end of The Incredibles after having nothing
01:09 to do with the overall story. He was there as something of a tease for the family fighting
01:14 together as a proper superhero team, and in a similar way, he was only involved in the
01:19 sequel at the very start, again having nothing to do with the overall main story. The villain
01:25 got away from the Incredibles at the start of the sequel, making off with immeasurable
01:29 amounts of money, but because of the collateral damage and the supers in general, no one seemed
01:34 to care. He was forgotten about, and no one was particularly interested in tracking him
01:38 down or bringing him to justice.
01:44 As a sequel to Rian Johnson's incredibly popular Knives Out from 2019, with the exception
01:49 of Benoit Blanc, Glass Onion boasted a completely different cast. Marta Cabrera and the Thrombrys
01:55 were replaced with Miles Braun and his disruptor friends, though the deliciousness of the mystery
02:00 remained throughout. Though Miles Braun himself was supposedly one of the world's smartest
02:05 billionaires, he was in fact an idiot with enough money to pay intelligent people to
02:09 earn his reputation for him. He then simply sat back and enjoyed his own private island
02:14 and the Mona Lisa on hire without ever really breaking a sweat.
02:18 One such thing his money paid for was seemingly a Hassle 3 Covid vaccination. The characters
02:23 were all able to remove their masks and go about their daily lives as normal after a
02:28 quick spray from Ethan Hawke's character, known simply in the credits as Efficient Man.
02:33 Because it was an actor as big as Ethan Hawke, it was surprising that Efficient Man had no
02:37 further role to play in the movie. He literally showed up, vaccinated everyone with no context
02:42 as to exactly who he was, and then was never heard of or seen again.
02:48 The Detachable Kid - The Suicide Squad The cast of The Suicide Squad was so ridiculous
02:53 in size that it seemed impossible to fit everyone into one movie. It all made sense by the end
02:58 of the first few scenes, however, when half of the titular team were gunned down on Corto
03:02 Maltese. The likes of Captain Boomerang, Blackguard, Savant and more bit the dust, serving as a
03:09 distraction to allow Bloodsport's true Task Force X onto the island. It seemed as though
03:14 Weasel died during the chaotic opening, but the post-credits scene saw him simply get
03:19 up and walk away. But what about the Detachable Kid, aka TDK? Nathan Fillion's character
03:25 may have had a crap power and a crap way of using it, but he actually didn't die on
03:29 that beach like most of the team did. While slapping and pawing at the Corto Maltese soldiers,
03:35 TDK's arms were shot to hell, leaving him writhing in pain on the floor. However, the
03:40 opening credits sequence that followed confirmed that TDK wasn't actually dead, but was instead
03:46 in critical condition. So what happened to him? Was he ever extracted off the beach or
03:51 was he left there to die by the heartless and ruthless Amanda Waller? Weasel survived
03:56 and will reprise his role in Creature Commandos, so did James Gunn keep TDK alive with the
04:01 intention of bringing him back?
04:04 5. Kingo Eternals This entry is slightly different from the
04:08 rest in that the character at least announced that he was disappearing. While everyone else
04:13 just went without so much as a goodbye, Kingo actually let everyone know what he was doing
04:18 and even returned to the screen before the end of Eternals. All that being said, however,
04:23 he undoubtedly still disappeared, and at a key point in the movie. Icarus had been revealed
04:28 as the villain and he and Sprite were about to go toe-to-toe with the rest of the Eternals.
04:33 Whether Tiamut's emergence happened or not directly affected the future of the entire
04:37 human race, and yet Kingo decided to take a step back. The rest of the Eternals were
04:43 his brothers and sisters, and though it's admirable in a way to remain neutral in such
04:47 a situation, did anyone actually believe that as a major character he would manage to stay
04:52 out of it entirely? Kingo was nowhere to be seen for the entire final battle. Realistically,
04:58 he may as well have gotten involved, as he still ended up at the mercy of Arishem next
05:03 to Cersei and Fastos anyway.
05:05 4. Mike - Sing 2 Sing is a genuinely enjoyable kids film, even
05:10 in spite of its singing competition premise, with a stunning cast to boot. Alongside the
05:15 phenomenal voices of Reese Witherspoon, Taron Egerton, Scarlett Johansson and more was Seth
05:21 McFarlane. The Family Guy creator's character, Mike, was a tiny mouse with one hell of a
05:26 voice, but an attitude that got him in trouble on more than one occasion. When the little
05:30 guy didn't appear or even get a mention in 2021's Sing 2, there was a theory equal parts
05:36 dark and compelling. Mike likely would never have returned to be in Buster's new show anyway,
05:42 as he was solely there for the money, but could it be that he was completely absent
05:46 from the second movie because he had been killed by the bears who were chasing him?
05:50 The big grizzly hanging off the back of Mike's car is the last we see of him after all. Harder
05:55 to explain is the absence of both Pete and Eddie, who were present at the reopening of
05:59 the New Moon Theatre at the end of Sing, and the three bunnies at the start of Sing
06:03 2 that were clearly part of the production, but had absolutely nothing to do with the
06:07 excursion to Red Shore City or the new show at the Majestic.
06:11 3. The Fourth Scroll - Captain Marvel In 2019, Captain Marvel introduced to the
06:17 MCU not only Carol Danvers herself, Maria and Monica Rambeau, and the mind-boggling
06:23 Flurkin, it also brought to life for the first time the Skrulls. Even better, the movie actually
06:28 did a fantastic job of portraying the race as the villains of the piece, before pulling
06:33 the rug from under audiences with a genuinely shocking revelation.
06:37 Back when everyone thought they were evil invading aliens, there were four Skrulls that
06:41 landed on Earth. They each shifted into the shape of someone on that beach, but not all
06:46 four are to be accounted for by the time the credits rolled. There was of course Talos,
06:51 his science guy Norrex who was killed by Yon-Rogg, and the Skrull posing as Agent Coulson who
06:56 died in Nick Fury's car. Now, for anyone keeping count, you won't be shocked to learn
07:01 that we are still one slippery Skrull short. It could be that Norrex was the alien that
07:06 morphed into the old woman that Carol fought on the bus, in which case, what happened to
07:11 the fourth Skrull? If Norrex wasn't the alien that morphed into the old woman that
07:15 Carol fought on the bus, what happened to the old woman Skrull? Either way you look
07:19 at it, there is a Skrull still MIA.
07:22 2. Nagini, Fantastic Beasts, The Secrets of Dumbledore
07:27 Outside of the likes of the Dumbledore's Newt Scamander's name on the modus map and
07:32 the canon-breaking McGonagall name drop that made no sense, there aren't too many characters
07:36 that appear in both the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter franchises.
07:40 One such character is Nagini, and because of this, audiences already know what her ultimate
07:45 fate would be. Several decades down the line, the Maledictus would have permanently transformed
07:50 into a snake, be one of Voldemort's most trusted allies and a Horcrux no less, and
07:56 would be sliced in half by Neville Longbottom.
07:58 Even with this knowledge, there were some twists and turns during Fantastic Beasts,
08:02 The Crimes of Grindelwald. Firstly, the fact that Nagini appeared as a human woman was
08:07 mind-blowing, but by the end of the movie she actually aligned herself with Newt and
08:11 the other heroes. With a compelling story between here and where she would ultimately
08:16 end up, she was completely left out of Fantastic Beasts, The Secrets of Dumbledore. No explanation
08:22 for her absence, she just simply disappeared from the narrative altogether. She may return
08:27 further down the line if the movie franchise ever survives that long, but even if she does,
08:32 there will have to be a big explanation as to where she was in the prequel.
08:36 1. Rocky Balboa - Creed III Creed III was something completely different
08:41 in the franchise in a number of ways. It was the directing debut of Michael B. Jordan,
08:47 who brought with him an anime-inspired fighting style, but it was also the first in the franchise
08:51 not to feature Rocky Balboa. Throughout all of the Rocky movies and the first two entries
08:56 in the Creed franchise, Rocky was a mainstay, and yet for Creed III, he didn't appear.
09:02 It was a decision made by Stallone himself due to creative differences, but what about
09:07 in terms of the narrative?
09:08 There are a couple of potential reasons for the Italian Stallion's absence. Firstly,
09:13 by the time of the prequel's events, Adonis is retired and living out in LA, as far away
09:18 from Philly as you could possibly get in the USA. There really wouldn't be any need for
09:22 Rocky to be out there. There is also a darker possibility pertaining to Rocky's poor health
09:28 in the first Creed movie.
09:29 Whatever the reason, however, it seems a strange decision to give audiences absolutely no closure
09:35 on the subject whatsoever. Donnie couldn't have just given him a call? Or just mentioned
09:39 in passing to Bianca how he was doing?
09:42 And there we have it folks, our list of movie characters that just disappeared. But please

09:50 what happened to them.
