00:00 So as you know the British Heart Foundation is fundamentally a research charity.
00:04 So we're here presenting to people a range of our activities related to all that.
00:10 Fundamental of course to it is raising money.
00:13 So as you can see we're selling some stock.
00:16 We have seven shops across Northern Ireland
00:18 and we're also encouraging people to think about bringing stock.
00:23 That is clothes and stuff that's in their wardrobe.
00:26 So just bring it to those shops across Northern Ireland.
00:29 And we're also asking people to think about could you volunteer for British Heart Foundation
00:35 in some way or another in our shops or potentially fundraising for us in your community.
00:41 We also have a unique tool here that we're emphasizing at the Balmoral show and it's
00:49 called Reviver.
00:51 You'll be aware of the story of that guy that dropped at the Belfast Marathon and
00:58 fortunately a defib was brought to him and people were able to do CPR on him and he has
01:07 survived and that is great news.
01:11 But the more people that know how to do the interventions that happened around that incident
01:17 the better and that's what we're emphasizing today.
01:20 We have a tool that can teach people in 15 minutes the nature of an emergency call,
01:25 how to do CPR and how to work a defibrillator.
01:29 We provide people with a unique QR code that can download the app and learn how to do CPR
01:37 and give themselves the confidence to intervene if an incident occurred.
01:42 And to back all that up on Saturday at this event we're doing our first public training
01:48 exercise with visitors to the show where we'll teach them along with the UFU president and
01:54 other high profile people just how to do CPR using that tool.
01:58 The event is in the sheep shearing pavilion, there won't be any sheep there at that time
02:03 and it'll be at 4pm on Saturday and we just encourage people to come along.
02:09 It'll be a great event and emphasize the fact that in the event of a really tragic
02:16 potential incident you can have the power to intervene and save a life.
02:22 Thank you to the health minister who has been very very supportive of us in the past.
02:27 He knows the profile of heart disease in Northern Ireland.
02:31 225,000 people here suffer from heart and circulatory disease and we're emphasizing that
02:39 in a little game that you can participate in here at the Balmoral show and enter a leaderboard to
02:48 see how much information you know about the extent of heart and circulatory disease here.
