00:00 Good morning, my name is Jude Wynn Stanley, I'm the Managing Director of Wastewater at Southern Water
00:05 and we're here at the Brighton Road Baptist Church today for a community day.
00:11 It's the fourth one we've done in our region and we're here to connect to local residents,
00:17 our customers, stakeholders and really the community and explain the kind of things that we've been doing
00:24 and also particularly the kind of things that we're going to do in the future which we're really excited about
00:29 and we want our residents to be just as excited about too.
00:33 So particularly for Horsham, we've just spent £31 million in a major upgrade to our waste treatment works
00:41 up the road in Horsham which is really, when I went round it I was amazed at the level of tech involved,
00:50 really huge step forward and that will improve the quality of the effluent that leaves the site
00:58 and it's fantastic and it's coming online this summer.
01:02 We're also talking about our initiatives to reduce water importation, to reduce blockages,
01:09 to reduce those awful things like pollutions, everything we possibly can do to improve our performance
01:17 for the environment and what we're doing.
01:19 The level of funding that we're putting in, huge multi-billion investment over the next five years
01:25 which again we're very excited about and then lots of local things.
01:29 We've got a lot of outreach programmes, we do a lot of work with schools, local communities
01:34 to help educate people to understand where they can help us and also what we're doing on our journey to be better.
01:42 Thank you.
