London Craft Week kicked off this week bringing together over 1000 established and emerging makers and galleries. The festival runs until 19 May 2024.

00:00Things have definitely become better for craft in general. I think when we started there
00:23was a bit of a perception that craft was the correlation of contemporary or fine art or
00:28maybe it was people knitting, that kind of thing. Whereas I think a lot of those
00:33perceptions have changed for the better. London Craft Week's brilliant because it's an
00:38opportunity to just kind of overload on craft. You get to see a lot of stuff all in one place,
00:43all in one week. I think it's really easy to answer why you should get into craft. It's
00:48tactile, it's creative, there's a sense of achievement and focus when I make that is
00:57I don't achieve anywhere else in my life.
00:59London is an extraordinary sort of cultural hub and also is a welcoming
01:28place. You get people from all around the world, often whose governments are absolutely
01:37at loggerheads with each other, but there's a sort of common language of creativity and
01:40openness to people and ideas and so on, which is brilliant.
