Joan Vassos to Star as ABC's First Golden Bachelorette, Legally Blonde Prequel Series Announced, Award-Winning Writer Alice Munro Dead at 92

ABC announces Joan Vassos as its first Golden Bachelorette star. Vassos starred as a contestant on the pilot season of The Golden Bachelor , quickly becoming a fan favorite before departing the show in the third week due to a family emergency. 61 year old Vassos had been married for 32 years before entering the world of reality TV, and decided two years after her husband's passing in 2021 that she was ready to put herself out there again. The series is set to debut this fall, airing Wednesday nights on ABC. Legally Blonde prequel series coming to Prime Video. The prequel series titled Elle was revealed to fans at Prime's first upfront presentation on Tuesday. The film's original star Reese Witherspoon took to the stage dressed in pink to make the announcement. The series will follow Elle Woods during her high school years, exploring the teenage experiences that shaped her into the iconic character fans see in the original two films. Witherspoon is set to executive produce the series along with her media company Hello Sunshine. Nobel Prize winner and short story writer Alice Munro dies at 92. The Canadian writer had a decades long career, entertaining readers from as early on as the 50's. She was honored with many awards throughout her career, including two Governor General's Awards for her 1968 collection Dance of the Happy Shades and 1978's Who Do You Think You Are? She also received the 2013 Nobel Prize in literature for her collection Dear Life . Munro died on May 13 following a 10 year long battle with dementia. Hallmark to host immersive Christmas experience featuring a variety film stars. The event will take place weekly from November 29 to December 23 outside the company's headquarters in Kansas City. The ticketed event will feature classic holiday activities such as ice skating and visits with Santa, but will also allow fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite Hallmark stars and get behind-the-scenes insight into the world of Hallmark during the holidays. Tickets for the event go on sale May 16.
