00:02:43 Today is Wednesday, May 15th and PFT,
00:02:48 I am so happy that I'm alive,
00:02:52 that I am blessed to be able to do a sports podcast
00:02:55 while Nikola Jokic is playing basketball
00:02:58 because holy shit.
00:03:00 He is the best.
00:03:02 - Did he empty the bag tonight?
00:03:04 It felt like the clip is gone.
00:03:06 He did everything in the paint.
00:03:07 I don't know what he finished at,
00:03:09 but through three quarters, he was seven for seven
00:03:11 when he was matched up one on one with Rudy Gobert.
00:03:14 - Yeah. - And he was just dominating.
00:03:16 But not just the crazy shot making
00:03:19 and like all the pivots and the hook shots
00:03:21 and the up and unders he was doing,
00:03:22 the passing out of the lane,
00:03:24 he made Rudy Gobert look foolish tonight.
00:03:26 The Timberwolves actually,
00:03:27 they look better at times defensively
00:03:30 with Gobert on the bench.
00:03:31 And it might go back to what we were talking about
00:03:33 before the series started.
00:03:34 I think we talked about it with,
00:03:36 maybe with Kurt Goldsberry,
00:03:37 but how sometimes since Rudy Gobert
00:03:39 is such a good defender,
00:03:40 defensive player of the year,
00:03:42 that when he's matched up against a guy like Jokic,
00:03:44 they'll have him play one on one,
00:03:46 not give a lot of help.
00:03:47 And then Jokic feasts because it's one on one.
00:03:50 It's almost better to guard Jokic
00:03:52 with like one and a half slash two average defenders
00:03:56 than it is to guard him with one good defender.
00:03:58 - Yeah, and listen, Rudy Gobert,
00:04:01 defensive player of the year many time,
00:04:03 I don't even know how many he's won, like five.
00:04:06 Really good in the regular season.
00:04:08 This happens to him pretty much every playoffs.
00:04:10 I'm not even gonna say that like,
00:04:11 yeah, he got cooked tonight,
00:04:12 but Jokic was so good,
00:04:14 everyone on planet earth would have gotten cooked.
00:04:17 But the thing I love about tonight,
00:04:20 and obviously this series has been great to watch.
00:04:23 You had the Wolves come out 2-0,
00:04:27 take the first two in Denver,
00:04:29 then the Nuggets were like,
00:04:29 hey, we're the champs for a reason.
00:04:31 And you felt that edge over the weekend,
00:04:34 and you felt that edge even tonight.
00:04:36 But tonight was an extra edge
00:04:38 because Jokic got his third MVP trophy before the game,
00:04:43 and he's going up against the defensive player of the year,
00:04:45 and he's probably the like, outside of,
00:04:48 I think Steve Nash was very criticized as MVP,
00:04:50 if you remember.
00:04:51 Like people were like,
00:04:52 how can you give him back-to-back MVPs?
00:04:54 But it's been a while since an MVP feels
00:04:57 like they've been criticized and poked holes in,
00:05:00 as much as Jokic has,
00:05:02 even last year not winning it and Embiid winning it.
00:05:04 And Jokic was like, I'm just gonna,
00:05:07 like, you don't think I care?
00:05:08 I care a lot,
00:05:09 and I'm gonna fucking demolish
00:05:11 the defensive player of the year,
00:05:12 and score 40 points,
00:05:14 and do everything passing the ball,
00:05:16 and remind everyone that yes,
00:05:18 I am the best player in the world.
00:05:21 And that's a fact.
00:05:22 I don't know how anyone,
00:05:23 like I understand that you get fatigued with MVPs,
00:05:26 and SGA had a great year,
00:05:28 and we're gonna talk about him in a minute,
00:05:30 and other guys have been great.
00:05:32 I don't understand how anyone can watch
00:05:34 the Denver Nuggets play basketball,
00:05:35 and Jokic play basketball,
00:05:37 and not be like, that guy is so much better
00:05:39 than everyone else at this exact moment,
00:05:41 because everything he does is just so effortless,
00:05:45 and makes everyone better,
00:05:47 and it's fucking awesome to watch.
00:05:49 - Yeah, he's the best player in basketball for sure.
00:05:51 I think what's watered down the whole MVP discussion,
00:05:54 which made some people come out of the woodworks,
00:05:56 with takes on other players that might be more deserving
00:06:00 this year, which I disagree with.
00:06:02 Jokic is the best,
00:06:03 and if you watch him play, you know he's the best.
00:06:05 It's the proliferation of MVP chants in arenas.
00:06:09 So there's a bunch of, probably four arenas out there,
00:06:13 have guys that when he's on the foul line,
00:06:15 the entire crowd chants MVP,
00:06:16 and when you hear everybody chanting MVP,
00:06:19 to me, I'm like, you know they make a good point,
00:06:22 'cause there's 40,000 or 30,000 people
00:06:24 saying a guy's name at the same time.
00:06:26 I'm like, yeah, yeah, SGA,
00:06:29 I agree with Oklahoma City on this one,
00:06:31 but if you actually sit down and watch him
00:06:33 back to back to back, it's pretty obvious
00:06:35 who the best player is.
00:06:36 - Yeah, and it's, I mean, it's happened time and time again
00:06:39 in the NBA, where it's like, if you actually went,
00:06:42 you know, the best player,
00:06:44 without any fatigue or anything else,
00:06:47 like LeBron probably has a couple more,
00:06:49 you know, Jordan has a couple more,
00:06:50 like these things happen where we just get tired of it,
00:06:54 and the voters get tired of it,
00:06:56 and they're like, oh, he's so good,
00:06:57 but he makes it so easy, let's give the new guy an MVP.
00:07:01 Jokic is the MVP, he deserves the MVP,
00:07:04 he is the best player in the world,
00:07:06 and he did it again tonight.
00:07:07 And it's honestly like, I feel the same way I felt
00:07:11 when the Warriors played basketball,
00:07:14 like at their peak of their powers,
00:07:15 it's so much fun to watch him play basketball,
00:07:19 because it's just, his two best passes tonight
00:07:22 didn't even end up in baskets.
00:07:24 Aaron Gordon missed one and got fouled on the other.
00:07:27 Like, he was doing tricks on it,
00:07:29 he was fucking, he was toying with them,
00:07:32 and even that last three that he hit
00:07:34 was like the wettest sounding three of all time,
00:07:38 and it's just, I don't know, I'm like smiling,
00:07:40 because I just, I love watching him play basketball.
00:07:43 - The behind the back pass,
00:07:44 or behind the back of his neck pass that he had
00:07:46 when he was driving through the lane to Aaron Gordon,
00:07:48 that was awesome.
00:07:49 Also, I just love Aaron Gordon, I love Aaron Gordon.
00:07:51 I have no other notes on this game besides the fact,
00:07:54 Jokic, dominant, Aaron Gordon, so fun to watch,
00:07:58 he works so hard, and it's funny watching him,
00:08:00 'cause there were times when Rudy was matched up
00:08:02 one on one against him, and on the offensive end,
00:08:04 when he got into the paint,
00:08:06 he'd have to do like three different pivots in a row
00:08:10 to get Gobert in a position like far enough away
00:08:13 where he could even get a layup off against him.
00:08:15 He has to work so hard against Rudy Gobert to score,
00:08:18 but he hustles, he hustles everywhere,
00:08:20 and yeah, the Nuggets, they're fully back.
00:08:22 I said, I think maybe we need to have the conversation
00:08:24 about the Timberwolves.
00:08:26 They look like they're still exhausted
00:08:28 from when Tibbs coached them back in 2018.
00:08:31 They hit the wall after game two.
00:08:34 I feel like this is it, classic Tibbs,
00:08:36 just ran his guys too hard,
00:08:37 and now they can't win another playoff game.
00:08:39 - Yeah, it's tough.
00:08:42 I mean, there's like the learning experience.
00:08:43 I also just think that this is why I made the joke
00:08:45 at the beginning of the series
00:08:47 that when Cat was like the big three,
00:08:49 and Cat played better tonight.
00:08:50 I still, I don't know why he still does
00:08:55 like the three-point celebration after every shot,
00:08:58 like in the first quarter,
00:08:59 like we're in a March Madness tournament game,
00:09:02 and they're like a 15 seed, but whatever.
00:09:04 He's, Cat's gonna do Cat.
00:09:05 Anthony Edwards did not have his best night.
00:09:09 I actually might do a game of the year,
00:09:11 Anthony Edwards over points on Thursday night,
00:09:13 just because I don't, if the Wolves go out,
00:09:16 he's gonna go out like swinging, you know what I mean?
00:09:19 And it sucks because he had the game on Sunday night
00:09:22 where he was so, so good, but no one else picked him up,
00:09:26 and then tonight you had Karl-Anthony Towns
00:09:28 actually hit some shots.
00:09:29 It's like, where was that Sunday night?
00:09:31 And they're just, I don't know, it sucks.
00:09:33 It sucks to see, they didn't have Mike Conley.
00:09:36 They're a fun young team,
00:09:37 but this is why the Oak Ridge is the best,
00:09:39 and why the Nuggets are the champs,
00:09:41 and it could, you know, we still got two games.
00:09:43 I'm not gonna write off the Wolves,
00:09:45 but it's just more, tonight was more about Jokic
00:09:47 and just flexing on everyone,
00:09:48 and the Nuggets, the scary part about the Nuggets
00:09:51 is Michael Porter Jr. has not been good,
00:09:53 and if he like finds his shot
00:09:55 and gets a little more confidence back,
00:09:57 then you're clicking on all cylinders,
00:10:00 'cause when he's going, it's like,
00:10:02 they're just in absolute terror.
00:10:04 - He's been dog shit for the last two games.
00:10:05 I was thinking he was gonna have a big night tonight,
00:10:07 and he just didn't.
00:10:09 - Yeah, we can't revoke dog status, by the way,
00:10:12 from Anthony Edwards.
00:10:13 I think he's a dog, right?
00:10:14 - No, that's what I'm saying.
00:10:15 He's gonna go out, yeah, he's gonna go out barking.
00:10:18 - He's a dog, that's what he's gonna do.
00:10:20 It may be, two nothing is the most dangerous lead
00:10:22 in hockey and the NBA playoffs.
00:10:24 - Yeah, yeah, all right, speaking of dogs,
00:10:27 Jalen Brunson, another incredible performance.
00:10:31 He scored 28 points in the first half.
00:10:33 Basically ended the Pacers right there in the first half.
00:10:36 It was like, it was funny because the first,
00:10:39 I don't know, five minutes of the game,
00:10:41 Pacers got out to a lead, and you're like,
00:10:42 oh man, maybe the Knicks are cooked.
00:10:44 And then Jalen Brunson's like, what are you talking about?
00:10:47 I'm a star here, I'm gonna dominate everyone.
00:10:52 The big thing, though, for this game,
00:10:54 I have two big thoughts.
00:10:55 One is Tyrese Halliburton, when he looks bad,
00:10:59 he looks like he just doesn't even wanna be out there.
00:11:01 Like, he'll just kinda bounce around
00:11:02 and just not be decisive and not attack,
00:11:06 and you're just like, what is this guy doing?
00:11:07 And the other thing, this was, if we're talking about dogs,
00:11:11 this was the full New York Knicks,
00:11:14 Tom Thibodeau, Nova Knicks, dog display.
00:11:18 Because the Knicks tonight started four guys
00:11:22 out of their five guys were 6'4" or under.
00:11:26 'Cause they changed up the lineup,
00:11:28 and Deuce McBride started.
00:11:30 And the New York Knicks out-rebounded
00:11:33 on the offensive glass a team that has,
00:11:36 I think, three guys over 6'5" in their starting lineup.
00:11:39 20 to five, 20 to five.
00:11:42 Isaiah Hartenstein had 12 offensive rebounds.
00:11:46 That's fucking ridiculous.
00:11:47 They are just so much more physical
00:11:49 and just take the fight to you.
00:11:51 And it was good to see the Knicks get off the mat
00:11:53 after Sunday where they got blown out.
00:11:56 They're just, when they're playing that bully ball
00:11:59 and Brunson's hitting everything,
00:12:01 they're a weird team, but they're fun
00:12:03 and they're hard to beat.
00:12:06 - Yeah, so how many players were under 6'4"?
00:12:09 - Under 6'4", 6'4" or under,
00:12:11 four out of five of their starters tonight, the Knicks.
00:12:13 So Brunson, Deuce McBride, Josh Hart,
00:12:16 and Dante DiVincenzo are all 6'4" or under.
00:12:19 Deuce McBride and Brunson are 6'1", 6'6".
00:12:22 - So Bronnie to the Knicks is what we're hearing.
00:12:24 - Bronnie to the Knicks.
00:12:25 - It sounds like a good thing. - But that's crazy.
00:12:26 - Also, speaking of dogs,
00:12:29 tonight was also the Westminster Kennel Club.
00:12:32 It was a dog show tonight.
00:12:33 Was that, there's no chance that that was at MSG
00:12:37 in the side theater, right?
00:12:38 - No, I think it was at halftime.
00:12:40 - That would be very funny.
00:12:43 - That would be funny.
00:12:44 - If they brought him out on the court,
00:12:44 they just took a big shit.
00:12:46 - I think the Westminster dog show
00:12:48 is the only thing in the world
00:12:50 that got on COVID schedule and never got off.
00:12:52 'Cause why are they doing it right now?
00:12:54 - I have no idea.
00:12:56 'Cause it used to be right after the Super Bowl.
00:12:58 - Right, weird.
00:13:00 But yeah, it was a big night for dogs.
00:13:03 - It was at Billie Jean King Tennis Center.
00:13:07 - What?
00:13:08 - Billie Jean King Tennis Center.
00:13:10 - They moved it to the tennis courts?
00:13:11 That's disrespectful to the dogs, but I get it.
00:13:13 - During the playoffs too?
00:13:16 - It would have been very funny
00:13:17 if they had it in the Hulu Theater inside MSG
00:13:20 while the Knicks were in a playoff game.
00:13:23 - Yeah, do you think they do get
00:13:24 the tennis ball gone out for them?
00:13:26 - They should, like American Gladiators,
00:13:30 if I have the dogs running obstacle course.
00:13:32 - They're there, why not?
00:13:34 Yeah, this game though, the Knicks are just,
00:13:38 I don't know where this is gonna end for them.
00:13:40 I think they're gonna win this series.
00:13:42 And I think they're very overmatched against Celtics.
00:13:45 But you can understand why they've captured
00:13:48 the hearts of New York and just from a fun watch.
00:13:52 I don't like the Knicks, but I'm watching them
00:13:55 and I'm like, these guys are, I don't know what's going on.
00:13:58 Al Burke is just hitting all these shots
00:14:00 and Jalen Brunson can't miss.
00:14:03 And Dante DiVincenzo's doing put backs
00:14:05 and then yelling and that was actually the moment
00:14:08 where it was like the encapsulation
00:14:10 of the 20 to five offensive rebounding
00:14:12 was Dante DiVincenzo, I think it was to Miles Turner
00:14:15 just being like, fuck you, you bitch.
00:14:17 Like that's their center and he's saying that to them.
00:14:21 - So the other thing about the first quarter of this game
00:14:24 is there were like seven reviews it felt like.
00:14:28 - Yeah, Scott Foster.
00:14:30 - They just kept reviewing plays.
00:14:31 Scott Foster got a screen time in.
00:14:33 That's probably the, that's the big market media bias.
00:14:35 They're trying to get more eyeballs.
00:14:36 Scott Foster going over to the screen,
00:14:38 getting another viewer like five times in a row.
00:14:41 I was sure that the fix was in on something at that point.
00:14:44 That's just entirely too much Scott Foster for America.
00:14:47 If he's on a game, the NBA should do a better job
00:14:50 of not having him be the guy that stares directly
00:14:53 into our souls after a review
00:14:55 and tells us what Scott Foster thinks.
00:14:57 - He did have after that fight,
00:14:59 what was the phrase he used?
00:15:00 He did the review.
00:15:02 - I think it's-- - Double technical?
00:15:04 - No, it was, hold on, I'm gonna play it.
00:15:06 Yeah, he was like, there was a fight
00:15:11 and it wasn't easily dissolved.
00:15:13 And so we're gonna review it.
00:15:15 I like that.
00:15:16 So like if they had easily dissolved it,
00:15:18 it would have been no problem.
00:15:19 We could have just not had to review,
00:15:20 but he's like, listen, that didn't dissolve quick enough.
00:15:23 What do you want me to do?
00:15:24 I gotta review this.
00:15:25 - So he just stops the game.
00:15:27 - Fun stat about Jalen Brunson.
00:15:29 He is the first player with five 40 point games
00:15:32 in the playoffs since LeBron did it in 2018.
00:15:35 - I saw the stat.
00:15:37 It was basically Jalen Brunson.
00:15:38 It was, there was a stat that was five 40 point games
00:15:42 in an eight game stretch.
00:15:44 And it was like Jalen Brunson, Michael Jordan,
00:15:46 Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan, like Jerry West.
00:15:49 It was basically like six guys had done it.
00:15:51 - And yeah, he's just been dominant.
00:15:53 And it seems like he, I know there's a lot more
00:15:56 to his game than this, but just watching him,
00:15:59 it seems like he's dominant because he tries harder
00:16:02 than everybody else on the court.
00:16:03 - Yeah, yeah.
00:16:04 It's, I mean, it's very fun watching.
00:16:07 I mean, Max, are you back into like Nova Knicks?
00:16:09 Because...
00:16:10 - Yeah, I'm so close.
00:16:14 I'm so close.
00:16:15 - Well.
00:16:16 - I just need to get, I need to win one.
00:16:18 I need them to win one more game and then I'm fully back.
00:16:21 - And then you're gonna be showing, yeah.
00:16:22 - Yes, when it's Nova against Hank, yeah.
00:16:26 - Oh, what a joy that will be.
00:16:28 But speaking of, Hank, huge win tonight for the Bruins.
00:16:31 Take the series back to Boston.
00:16:33 What were your thoughts?
00:16:35 - Not that you're being modest,
00:16:38 but we wanna give you the platform
00:16:40 because we wanna hear what you have to say.
00:16:43 Let's give Boston Sports its credit.
00:16:45 Hank, go ahead.
00:16:46 - I think your mic's muted, Hank.
00:16:49 I think your mic's muted.
00:16:52 This sucks for Hank.
00:16:53 I'm gonna say it right now.
00:16:55 I actually feel bad for Hank.
00:16:57 The sleeping allegations lasted,
00:17:00 he beat him for what, three weeks?
00:17:02 But Hank is not here.
00:17:04 - I put out a video earlier today of him snoring
00:17:07 in the studio today before we did the show.
00:17:09 - He's gonna be so mad at himself tomorrow morning.
00:17:12 He's like, "God damn it."
00:17:14 - His quote was, right afterwards, he's like,
00:17:16 "All you need is a 15 minute nap.
00:17:18 "That's all you need.
00:17:19 "You don't need to sleep any longer than 15 minutes
00:17:21 "and you wake up and you're totally refreshed
00:17:23 "and you're good to go the rest of the day."
00:17:25 But you know what?
00:17:26 Hank might be speaking for America here.
00:17:29 This might be Hank's protest
00:17:31 to the 10.30 p.m. Eastern start time
00:17:34 for the Wolves Nuggets game
00:17:35 because I feel bad for all the kids,
00:17:38 all the youngsters out there who aren't able to stay up
00:17:40 and watch their favorite teams on TV.
00:17:42 That's too late.
00:17:43 - It's so stupid.
00:17:44 You have the best player in the world playing
00:17:46 and you play him at 10.30 at night.
00:17:48 Our friend Andrew Perloff McLovin had a great tweet.
00:17:51 He was like, "8 p.m. Eastern and 10.30 Eastern
00:17:55 "for two or three stars, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards,
00:18:00 "and Jokic to everyone who wants to watch
00:18:02 "and the NBA wonders why everyone's obsessed
00:18:05 "about the leak of the Cleveland Browns week five opponent."
00:18:09 Like, what are we doing?
00:18:10 Why is this?
00:18:11 I mean, we're built different.
00:18:13 We watch the games, but you can't stay up
00:18:17 till one in the morning
00:18:18 if you're on the Eastern Standard Time.
00:18:22 What are we doing?
00:18:24 - Can you think of the morning talk show guys out there?
00:18:26 Let's take a moment and think about
00:18:27 what they have to go through right now.
00:18:29 Greeny, oh my God, Greeny.
00:18:31 That game tipped off two hours after his bedtime tonight
00:18:33 and he's supposed to get up in the morning
00:18:35 and educate us about the finer points of basketball.
00:18:37 I actually, I like the 10.30 start time
00:18:41 just because it makes me feel like a man.
00:18:43 Like, yeah, I can do it.
00:18:44 It's my adversity and I embrace that.
00:18:46 I get through it.
00:18:47 But then I also think about the less fortunate people
00:18:49 out there who aren't able to stay up that late
00:18:51 to watch sports like our good friend, Hank.
00:18:53 And so on Hank's behalf, that's why I'm upset.
00:18:55 - Hank will be in the rest of the show.
00:18:58 We're gonna talk about the Celtics with him.
00:19:00 So this is a very brief opening on Zoom,
00:19:03 but what do we predict Hank's text
00:19:05 tomorrow morning is gonna be?
00:19:06 Just, "My bad, I did it again."
00:19:09 - I think it's gonna be just, "Fuck."
00:19:10 I think we're gonna get a, "Fuck," from Hank.
00:19:12 - I think it'll be at like 4 a.m.
00:19:14 He's gonna wake up on his couch
00:19:15 and he's gonna be, "Ah, I wish there was a fly on the wall
00:19:19 "that could just see the look on his face."
00:19:20 And he's like, "Fuck, I did it again."
00:19:22 - 'Cause he just had this happen.
00:19:24 And now he's gonna get, it's gonna stick a little bit
00:19:27 that he's the sleep guy.
00:19:29 - Like a smart move from Hank would be to say,
00:19:31 "I'm gonna go see a doctor."
00:19:33 (laughing)
00:19:35 - No, it's the documentary 'cause he's getting up
00:19:37 at like six o'clock to work out at eight.
00:19:42 That's what he told me today.
00:19:43 - It's crazy that like his,
00:19:45 him just getting in shape is now his job.
00:19:48 That golf.
00:19:50 - Listen, he's putting in grind
00:19:51 to create content for this company.
00:19:53 He's burning the candle at both ends right now.
00:19:55 So it's kind of unfair of us to expect him to stay up.
00:19:58 - Yeah, he's gonna reverse this on us.
00:20:00 If we're like, if we give him too much shit,
00:20:02 he's gonna be like, "Fine, I won't do the documentary.
00:20:04 "I won't try to dunk.
00:20:06 "Fine, you guys want me to do blah, blah, blah, blah, blah?
00:20:09 "I won't dunk."
00:20:12 - So later on the show, we asked Hank
00:20:14 what he thinks happened already earlier tonight.
00:20:16 - Yeah.
00:20:17 - And he, I'm not gonna give it away,
00:20:19 but I think he's absolutely correct in his prediction.
00:20:22 - Yeah, he nailed it.
00:20:24 All right, so the Bruins did win.
00:20:25 I was actually surprised by that.
00:20:26 I thought the Bruins were dead.
00:20:27 Now we go game six.
00:20:29 And then we alluded to it actually in a minute
00:20:33 when we talk about we need a period of the week,
00:20:34 even though it's early in the week,
00:20:35 but that, we might just have the last five minutes
00:20:38 of the week.
00:20:39 That Canucks-Oilers game,
00:20:41 that, I'm gonna say the Canucks
00:20:44 are no longer a team of destiny.
00:20:45 Congratulations to the Canucks.
00:20:46 You were my team of destiny for one game.
00:20:49 Actually, one in like, almost like 1.75 of a game,
00:20:55 because them scoring to even it up with three minutes left
00:20:59 was the biggest team of destiny thing to do.
00:21:01 And then the Oilers scoring with like a minute left,
00:21:06 it feels like the Oilers can now relax and be like,
00:21:08 "All right, it's 2-2, we're better.
00:21:10 "Let's just fucking win this series."
00:21:12 Because they were not gonna win in overtime
00:21:15 if that went to overtime.
00:21:16 - Pivotal game five coming up.
00:21:18 I wonder if the stats are the same in hockey
00:21:20 like they are in basketball,
00:21:21 'cause I think it's what, 85% somewhere around there
00:21:24 in basketball, the team that wins game five
00:21:25 when it's tied 2-2, they're gonna have to win the series.
00:21:28 We have to, as a sports podcast,
00:21:29 we have to remind everybody that.
00:21:30 I think it's legally required.
00:21:32 I don't know if that's the same case in hockey.
00:21:34 - Should we start the campaign that game fives
00:21:36 are actually better than game sevens?
00:21:39 - Dude, I'm gonna-- - Game fives rock.
00:21:41 - I've always said, I don't remember the last time
00:21:43 that a team won a game five and then lost the series.
00:21:46 Feels like it always happens.
00:21:47 - Yeah, game fives rock, so, all right.
00:21:51 - And a home team won finally
00:21:53 in the Nuggets-Timberwolves series, huge.
00:21:56 - Would this be-- - They swung home court
00:21:58 advantage back.
00:22:00 - I know it's not a gentlemen's sweep
00:22:01 'cause a 4-1 is a gentlemen's sweep,
00:22:03 but it feels like if they win on Thursday night,
00:22:05 this could qualify as a gentlemen's sweep
00:22:08 because it basically was two just completely
00:22:10 separate series that happened.
00:22:12 - I think it's like a nice guy win.
00:22:14 - Yeah, it gives the Wolves hope.
00:22:16 They gave the Wolves hope.
00:22:18 - They gave the Wolves more than hope.
00:22:20 - Yeah. - I think everybody
00:22:21 was talking about the Nuggets like they were dead.
00:22:24 And they looked dead.
00:22:25 - I hope this goes seven, I do.
00:22:28 I would like to see a game seven in this series.
00:22:31 And I think I might do game of the year Anthony Edwards
00:22:34 'cause I just don't see a world where he doesn't just go,
00:22:37 like, he's gonna take this personal.
00:22:39 He's gonna go fucking nuclear.
00:22:40 He knows that he's the guy.
00:22:41 He knows that it doesn't matter if Carl Anthony Towns
00:22:44 hits a three early on and does the finger guns.
00:22:46 It's gotta be him.
00:22:47 - I'm gonna wait to say if I wanted to go seven.
00:22:50 I don't think that I do because that would probably mean
00:22:52 maybe one more 10-30 tip-off time.
00:22:54 - Game seven would be a Sunday or Saturday,
00:22:58 so I think we can handle it.
00:22:59 I don't think they would do 10-30 on a Sunday.
00:23:02 - Okay.
00:23:03 - I think the NBA might be freaky like that.
00:23:05 Okay, so back to ourselves in studio.
00:23:09 No ad between this and the studio, and Hank will be back.
00:23:13 Okay, we're back in studio.
00:23:17 We're gonna talk about Monday night's games.
00:23:19 Hank, do you wanna do a quick Celtics recap?
00:23:21 The Celtics won and they should easily be in the next round.
00:23:24 Just end the series right now.
00:23:25 - Yeah, that's good, that's good.
00:23:27 We can end it there.
00:23:28 - Eh, they struggled a little.
00:23:28 - No, that's good, we're good.
00:23:30 - Max Struess went five for five.
00:23:31 - Donovan Mitchell's a really good player,
00:23:33 so it makes sense that you guys
00:23:34 would struggle against him, right?
00:23:36 - Donovan Mitchell did not play.
00:23:37 - Oh, no.
00:23:38 - Oh.
00:23:39 - But Jared Allen.
00:23:40 - But you said, we said the Celtics needed a test.
00:23:42 They got a test, they won a close,
00:23:43 a first 10-point game of the playoffs,
00:23:46 and they came out on top, which I think is a good sign.
00:23:49 Good test for a playoff team.
00:23:52 We're on to the next round, hopefully.
00:23:53 - I have a trouble in paradise, Hank,
00:23:55 for the Boston Celtics.
00:23:57 Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, you love 'em.
00:23:59 You think they play well together.
00:24:01 When Jalen Brown hit that three,
00:24:02 I think they went up 105 to 97,
00:24:05 about a minute left in the game.
00:24:06 You remember that three?
00:24:07 - Of course.
00:24:08 - Okay, after that three was hit,
00:24:10 Tatum comes over, smacks Jalen Brown in the chest,
00:24:14 as if to say congratulations.
00:24:16 Hits him so hard that Jalen Brown turns around,
00:24:18 looks at him, starts yelling at him,
00:24:21 and then they had to hold Jalen Brown back
00:24:23 because he was mad that Tatum hit him too hard.
00:24:25 - This sounds like your father.
00:24:27 - This sounds like fiction?
00:24:30 By the way, Max Struess finished five for nine,
00:24:31 but he was five for five for a while.
00:24:33 - You want me to pull the video up, Hank?
00:24:34 - Yeah.
00:24:35 - Okay, let me find this video.
00:24:37 You need to take a look at it because--
00:24:38 - I'll find my own video.
00:24:39 - Okay, find your own video then.
00:24:41 - Find the video, Hank.
00:24:43 - Sounds like you weren't watching the game that closely
00:24:47 'cause it's the first thing I noticed.
00:24:50 - Oh, so we have a quote after.
00:24:51 Jalen Brown said, "Yeah, I'm gonna get Jason back for that."
00:24:57 - Yeah, and then Jason Tatum said--
00:24:58 - He wasn't yelling at him,
00:24:59 he was yelling at someone else on the court.
00:25:01 - No, no, he tried--
00:25:02 - He winced.
00:25:03 - He winced and then he tried to storm on the court.
00:25:05 - But that was like a playful wince,
00:25:06 like when today when I like touched your finger
00:25:09 and you said I broke your thumb
00:25:10 and you're never gonna be able to play guitar again.
00:25:11 - Look at this, look at this blood.
00:25:13 - Let me see.
00:25:13 - I'm bleeding.
00:25:14 - Oh, geez.
00:25:15 - You can see the tendon.
00:25:16 - Can we blur that?
00:25:17 - Yeah.
00:25:18 - We gotta blur that.
00:25:18 - Hey, big guy, how many beers?
00:25:19 - Zero.
00:25:20 - Yeah, you could fuck my thumb right now.
00:25:21 - It's tight 'cause it's so tiny.
00:25:22 - Whoa, Hank.
00:25:24 - Are you talking about--
00:25:25 - You want tight tiny?
00:25:26 - Oh, no.
00:25:27 - Tight and tiny?
00:25:28 - Don't talk about my gash that way.
00:25:29 We just did how many beers you said you like
00:25:31 'cause it's tight and tiny.
00:25:33 All right, no Drake.
00:25:34 - What the fuck?
00:25:34 - Write that from the record.
00:25:36 - Say no Drake before he swears.
00:25:38 - No Drake, no Drake.
00:25:39 - Yeah, no, Jason Tatum.
00:25:40 Oh, here's an interesting part of this.
00:25:42 So it looked like it was fun, all fun and games,
00:25:45 but Jason Tatum did say,
00:25:46 "I didn't realize how hard I hit him.
00:25:48 "I've been lifting a lot lately."
00:25:50 - That's good, he's getting stronger.
00:25:52 - Kind of fucks up your shot, though.
00:25:54 - He's playing aggressive.
00:25:55 - He's playing good aggressive basketball.
00:25:57 - He has been more aggressive.
00:25:58 This series just needs to end.
00:26:00 - I mean, the East, again, it's like the East
00:26:02 really is such, it's crazy that we're gonna get to a spot.
00:26:04 It reminds me of the Patriots where it's like,
00:26:07 you're not gonna get tested until the championship.
00:26:10 - Yeah, you're gonna find out, buddy.
00:26:13 - And we just need the fucking,
00:26:14 hopefully the Timberwolves won tonight.
00:26:16 - Hank is right now very clearly
00:26:17 in the fucking around part of the graph.
00:26:19 - Yeah.
00:26:20 - And the finding out is gonna come against the west.
00:26:22 - Well, there's nothing, what are you supposed to do?
00:26:23 - No, there's nothing you can do.
00:26:25 Just fuck around.
00:26:25 - That's what we're doing.
00:26:27 - They play boring games against really inferior opponents.
00:26:31 And that's not saying the Celts aren't really good,
00:26:32 'cause they are, it's just everyone else
00:26:34 is just not even close to them.
00:26:35 - Yeah, just Porzingis, healthy, get some good reps in.
00:26:38 I think we can still, I feel good, I feel good.
00:26:41 - You feel good.
00:26:42 - You should feel good.
00:26:43 Like, we're poking holes in the Celtics left and right.
00:26:45 - They're gonna be in the finals.
00:26:46 - They're a very, very good team.
00:26:48 We'll find out if they're great.
00:26:49 - We need the Timberwolves.
00:26:51 - Need the Timberwolves.
00:26:52 Well, we already talked about that game.
00:26:54 - And I don't, I feel like it was bad.
00:26:56 - Oh.
00:26:56 - I don't feel good about it.
00:26:57 I don't feel good about what we talked about.
00:26:59 - What happened earlier tonight?
00:27:00 - Nothing good.
00:27:01 - Nothing good.
00:27:02 - Nothing good.
00:27:03 - Damn.
00:27:04 The West, though, everyone is just beating up each other.
00:27:07 The Thunder, I wanna say, have officially earned
00:27:11 their big boy playoff stripes,
00:27:13 because what they did on Monday night,
00:27:15 when they could not shoot at all,
00:27:19 they were like, I think, like 25% from three,
00:27:24 played great defense, and SGA took over that game.
00:27:27 He's so fucking good.
00:27:28 He's just like so deliberate,
00:27:30 and that over-the-backboard shot he hit was incredible.
00:27:34 Took over the game in the second half at 22 points,
00:27:37 and it was, that was like a win
00:27:40 that the Thunder needed to get,
00:27:42 where it's like, we don't have our best stuff,
00:27:44 but we'll figure out a way to win this game.
00:27:46 That's a tough playoff win,
00:27:48 and the Mavs' defense was awesome,
00:27:50 and the Thunder win, and I'm like,
00:27:52 they got their big boy stripes.
00:27:53 - Yeah, it was like, it was a nice comeback win.
00:27:55 They seemed to be down between seven and nine points
00:27:58 for almost the entire game,
00:27:59 and then they turned it on at the end.
00:28:01 The Mavericks couldn't hit a foul shot at all.
00:28:03 - They went 12 for 23 from the free throw line.
00:28:05 The Thunder went 23 for 24.
00:28:08 - Yeah, that's the game right there,
00:28:10 and then Luka missed that big one.
00:28:11 Some people are saying it was a ball-don't-lie situation.
00:28:13 I think he did get fouled.
00:28:15 - I did, I saw this, I think he's an NFL reporter,
00:28:18 Greg Rosenthal, tweeted, "The official should be allowed
00:28:20 "to talk shit back to Luka when he misses a big free throw."
00:28:23 - Agreed, agreed. - I agree.
00:28:24 Any foul merchant should get,
00:28:26 like, the official should get a quick 10 seconds,
00:28:29 like, yeah, you fucking missed that.
00:28:30 - Yeah, if you were Luka's teammate,
00:28:32 would you get sick of him just screaming
00:28:34 at the refs the entire time?
00:28:35 - I don't know about the refs.
00:28:37 I think I would probably get,
00:28:38 and I like Luka when he's clearly injured.
00:28:42 Let's just say that, he's clearly injured.
00:28:44 Everyone's dealing with something this time of year.
00:28:47 I would say the thing that would make me more mad
00:28:49 as a teammate is when there's like a fast break
00:28:52 and all of a sudden Luka has the most painful injury ever.
00:28:56 - Yeah, or he's just having a close conversation
00:28:59 with the referee.
00:29:00 - Yeah, or things go poorly and it's like,
00:29:02 oh shit, now he's really injured.
00:29:04 - Yeah, he does look like he's not pushing off
00:29:06 his right leg as much.
00:29:07 - Yeah, yeah, no, he's not, you can tell, yeah,
00:29:10 the lift is not there and his shot doesn't look as good
00:29:13 and it looks like it's just,
00:29:14 everything's a little bit more difficult for him.
00:29:17 But this game was SGA.
00:29:19 SGA took this game over and the Thunder won a game
00:29:22 that they probably didn't have business winning
00:29:24 with the way they were shooting the three.
00:29:25 And again, big boy stripes.
00:29:27 And I like it, I know people will say it was corny.
00:29:29 I like that the Thunder do the post-game interview
00:29:32 as a full team.
00:29:33 - Yeah, it is good. - I like it.
00:29:34 - It is good. - They're young, they're fun.
00:29:36 - And Chet is tough. - Whoa.
00:29:37 - Chet, what?
00:29:39 - No, Hank, you were trying to get me back
00:29:41 when he said that he wanted a tight, tiny pussy.
00:29:43 - Yeah. (laughs)
00:29:44 - And that's not even close. - That's not what I said.
00:29:46 - Young and fun is not the same.
00:29:48 It's saying you wanted a tight, tiny pussy.
00:29:51 - Young and fun could still be loose.
00:29:54 - Yeah.
00:29:54 Nice try, Hank.
00:29:56 (laughs)
00:29:58 You put yourself in one.
00:29:59 - Chet is tough, though.
00:30:00 - No, I didn't. - Chet is tough.
00:30:01 He also, he's got swag.
00:30:03 Do you see his post-game?
00:30:04 - Well, he's got like Abraham Lincoln swag.
00:30:06 - Yeah.
00:30:07 - He looks a little bit like Honest Abe.
00:30:08 - But he had the sunglasses on,
00:30:10 he had like a pink Miami Vice shirt.
00:30:12 - Yeah.
00:30:13 - I don't know if he's, I think he's kind of forcing it,
00:30:15 but I'm okay with him forcing it
00:30:17 because he's just trying to find his way
00:30:19 in the fashion game of the NBA.
00:30:20 - Also, when you're that big and tall,
00:30:22 I feel like that limits your fashion choices.
00:30:24 - Yes, I agree.
00:30:25 - You can't buy normal clothes.
00:30:26 - I'd agree.
00:30:27 Shout out my guy Lou Dort for hitting that big three.
00:30:29 That was an SGA assist.
00:30:30 I mean, SGA, you can't say enough.
00:30:32 That was a game where it's like,
00:30:34 I'm the best player on the court, here's why.
00:30:36 - Yeah, Lou Dort on defense is so fun to watch, too.
00:30:39 Even when he blocks your shot, it looks like he hurts you.
00:30:41 - Also, we should probably say,
00:30:44 Kyrie Irving probably needs to score more.
00:30:47 - Yeah, well, he's been good in the second half
00:30:49 of this playoff series for the most part.
00:30:51 That was not his game.
00:30:52 - No. - He was way off.
00:30:53 - And they need him to be that guy
00:30:55 because their defense is real.
00:30:56 Like, the Mavs have been playing great defense,
00:30:59 and if Luka is hampered, Kyrie, you need to pick it up.
00:31:03 - Yeah, I was thinking about this series.
00:31:04 Do you think there are fans up in Oklahoma City
00:31:06 that grew up Dallas Mavericks fans
00:31:09 and they have to act now like that never happened
00:31:11 to them in this series?
00:31:13 - I think, no, I think they were just Sooner fans.
00:31:15 - Or they were just, they were like Seattle fans.
00:31:18 They just didn't know it yet.
00:31:19 - Yeah, also it works 'cause it is Sooner versus a little,
00:31:22 there's probably some crossover of Sooner versus Texas.
00:31:24 - It's a Red River rivalry in basketball form, yeah.
00:31:26 - Right, yeah, no, I think Oklahoma fans before that
00:31:30 were just Sooner fans and possibly Cowboys fans.
00:31:34 - Yeah, Cowboys fans.
00:31:35 - They didn't dip into the other stuff.
00:31:37 - Yeah, I do know that there are a lot of people
00:31:38 from North Texas that are close to the Panhandle area
00:31:42 that are big time Sooner fans.
00:31:44 Like, it's not just right along state lines.
00:31:47 - Yeah, okay, so hockey real quick.
00:31:50 The Stars look like maybe the best team in the playoffs,
00:31:53 especially 'cause the Rangers lost.
00:31:55 - Yeah, they-- - Memes.
00:31:56 - It was a clobberin'.
00:31:57 - Memes, starting to feel good?
00:32:01 - Yeah.
00:32:02 - 3-2?
00:32:03 - 3-2.
00:32:04 - It was gonna be a sweep and now you're--
00:32:06 - Nah, the Rangers are still gonna win.
00:32:07 - Are they?
00:32:08 - Yeah, they're the best team.
00:32:10 - Oh, I see what he's doing.
00:32:11 - Yeah, the old reverse jinx.
00:32:12 - They got the best goalie, they're going back to Carolina,
00:32:15 they play good at Carolina, Carolina goalies, thanks.
00:32:18 - I'm mad at myself about the Stars
00:32:20 'cause Ryan Whitney did tell me
00:32:21 they were the best team before the playoffs.
00:32:22 - Yeah, yeah, they were pretty adamant about that,
00:32:24 but they did say this is gonna go seven.
00:32:26 It could go seven.
00:32:27 - Who?
00:32:28 - Dallas, Colorado.
00:32:29 - The Avalanche said that?
00:32:30 - No, the Chiclets boys.
00:32:32 - Oh, I don't think so.
00:32:33 - You think it's over?
00:32:34 - There was a moment in that game in the second period
00:32:36 where it was 18-3 in shots.
00:32:41 The Avalanche just weren't able to get pucks on net at all.
00:32:43 And listen, if we know one thing about hockey,
00:32:47 especially playoff hockey.
00:32:48 - You gotta shoot the puck.
00:32:49 - It's pucks on net.
00:32:49 - You gotta shoot the puck.
00:32:50 Good things happen when you put the puck on net.
00:32:52 - Pucks on net mean everything.
00:32:54 - I still think that one of the,
00:32:55 maybe ahead of hitting a curve ball,
00:32:58 the hardest thing to do, at least to my untrained eye,
00:33:00 is what hockey players seem to do all the time,
00:33:03 which is just deflect a shot off the end of their stick,
00:33:06 a shot that's coming in super fast,
00:33:08 and then just casually redirect it
00:33:09 into the court of the net.
00:33:10 - It's the coolest thing.
00:33:11 - It's so cool.
00:33:12 - Dirty goals.
00:33:12 - Dirty goals in the muck.
00:33:14 - Screen out the goalie.
00:33:15 - Yep.
00:33:16 - Put a puck on net.
00:33:16 There was a knuckle puck shot the other day.
00:33:17 That was in the Bruins game, right?
00:33:19 - I feel like that's more the,
00:33:20 you just put your stick up
00:33:22 and then the shooter shoots it at your stick.
00:33:24 - You think that's more on the shooter than it is?
00:33:26 - I've seen sometimes where it's like
00:33:27 they're directly shooting at,
00:33:29 like there's nowhere the stick is gonna be
00:33:31 and they're shooting for that.
00:33:32 - But the coolest ones--
00:33:33 - Obviously sometimes when they turn the head.
00:33:34 - Yeah, the coolest ones are when a guy
00:33:36 will almost hit down on the puck as it's in the air
00:33:39 and it will just change the complete trajectory.
00:33:42 Those might be the coolest goals.
00:33:43 - Yeah, the goalie has no chance at it.
00:33:45 - Yeah, we still need a period of the week this week.
00:33:48 Wasn't great two hockey games on Monday night.
00:33:51 - Not a great couple nights for periods.
00:33:53 - Yeah, all right, so we'll find a period of the week.
00:33:55 Should we do some Hot Seat Cool Throne?
00:33:57 Then we got two great interviews.
00:33:58 - Sure.
00:34:00 - Woj and Shane Bacon getting us ready
00:34:02 for Valhalla, the PGA Championship.
00:34:06 Hot Seat Cool Throne brought to you
00:34:07 by our friends at Coors Light.
00:34:10 I could let bad sports news ruin my day
00:34:12 or choose a chiller mindset and then reach for Coors Light.
00:34:14 I choose chill when you embrace a chill mindset.
00:34:17 It's a good time to choose chill
00:34:18 and crack open a Coors Light.
00:34:19 Coors Light is mountain cold refreshment,
00:34:21 crisp and refreshing as the Colorado Rockies.
00:34:23 We love Coors Light, it is the coldest beer out there.
00:34:26 When you get worked up, choose chill
00:34:28 and then reach for a Coors Light.
00:34:29 Get Coors Light delivered straight to your door

00:34:34 Celebrate responsibly, Coors Brewing Company,
00:34:36 Golden, Colorado, coorslight.com/take.
00:34:39 It is the most delicious beer out there.
00:34:40 It's about to be summer.
00:34:41 It's about to be Coors Light season.
00:34:42 It's always Coors Light season,
00:34:44 but there's something about grabbing that blue mountain
00:34:48 out of the cooler on a hot summer day.
00:34:52 Oh my God, I'm picturing it right now
00:34:54 and I just want to be there.
00:34:55 - You know what I absolutely love
00:34:57 is just pictures of people's coolers.
00:34:59 I can't get enough of them.
00:35:00 I took like, when we had people over for the derby party,
00:35:03 took a bunch of pictures just of my cooler,
00:35:05 not even to post anywhere, just so I could look at them
00:35:08 and see the blue mountains on top of an ice-cold cooler.
00:35:11 So good.
00:35:12 - Yeah.
00:35:13 By the way, speaking of hot seat, cool throne,
00:35:15 can we get the AC back on in here?
00:35:17 Jake, you did that.
00:35:19 - What?
00:35:20 - They said that you turned it off.
00:35:23 - I haven't been here in a week.
00:35:24 - I know, I think you turned it off a week ago.
00:35:26 - Has it been this hot all week?
00:35:27 - Yeah, it's been really hot.
00:35:29 - I mean, it was freezing and I definitely touched it.
00:35:31 - See, see?
00:35:32 - But it was either freezing.
00:35:34 - Wait, did you just admit to doing it?
00:35:35 - No, he did.
00:35:36 He 100% admitted to it.
00:35:38 - When it was freezing, I pressed up.
00:35:39 - Yeah, how many times?
00:35:40 - Don't ever press up on that.
00:35:42 - I don't remember.
00:35:44 - Would you rather be hot or cold?
00:35:46 - I think too cold's better than too hot.
00:35:48 'Cause too cold, you can layer up.
00:35:50 - I'd rather be cold all day.
00:35:51 - Yeah.
00:35:53 If you're too hot, you're screwed.
00:35:55 - Yeah.
00:35:55 - My hair was just crazy there.
00:35:56 Jake, you're not allowed to touch that.
00:35:59 - Okay.
00:36:00 - I'm just saying.
00:36:00 - Sorry.
00:36:01 - 'Cause like, we can't do the guy
00:36:03 who might have the most sensitivity towards temperature
00:36:07 just doing that.
00:36:08 - It was freezing in here last week.
00:36:10 - It was not.
00:36:11 - It was pretty cold.
00:36:11 - It was cold, but it's way better than what it is now.
00:36:13 - Is it the same in there as it is in here?
00:36:15 Is that even?
00:36:16 - It's fucking hot as fuck in here.
00:36:18 - But I don't even know that that's related.
00:36:20 - No, no, he touched this one.
00:36:21 - I know, that's what I'm saying,
00:36:22 but he said it was 'cause it was cold in there.
00:36:24 - Oh, good point.
00:36:25 - No, we were watching something in here.
00:36:29 Oh, it was when we were doing the,
00:36:31 we were watching Netflix, I think.
00:36:33 - Oh.
00:36:33 - And it was cold, and you were like.
00:36:36 - Jake, you gotta figure out how to turn that back cold.
00:36:39 - It might kill Mr. Pear.
00:36:40 - We're getting, we're getting.
00:36:41 - Mr. Pear prefers it hot.
00:36:42 - It's a hot box in here.
00:36:44 - Yeah.
00:36:45 - It's a hot box.
00:36:46 - Does Mr. Pear prefer it hot, is that fact?
00:36:48 - Yes.
00:36:48 - Is it hot in the studio right now?
00:36:50 - Yeah, it's hot in here.
00:36:51 - Why do you have your sweatshirt hood up?
00:36:53 - I don't know.
00:36:53 - Wait, did we. - I haven't thought about it.
00:36:55 - Did we change the temperature in the studio
00:36:56 to like 85 degrees for our turtle?
00:36:59 - No.
00:37:00 - No, I think.
00:37:01 - It was because we already found the culprit.
00:37:04 - Yeah, Jake did, he admitted it.
00:37:06 He denied it and then admitted it.
00:37:08 - So hot.
00:37:09 - Yeah, yeah.
00:37:10 - It's hot, so fucking hot.
00:37:11 And Jake, I need to be able to wear a sweatshirt, I'm fat.
00:37:13 That's really what it comes down to.
00:37:15 Yeah, but I need to be able to layer up,
00:37:17 that's why I like the.
00:37:17 - Don't lie twice, Jake.
00:37:18 - You don't lie twice.
00:37:19 Hank's spicy, I like it.
00:37:23 I like a spicy Hank.
00:37:24 - Fresh off a nap.
00:37:25 - Fresh off a nap, looking for a tight, tiny pussy.
00:37:28 (laughing)
00:37:31 - My hot seat is Brawny James.
00:37:34 - Yeah.
00:37:35 - I never thought I'd say this,
00:37:36 'cause I hate his dad so much, but I feel bad for him.
00:37:40 Like he's in a terrible spot.
00:37:43 He's in a terrible spot.
00:37:45 He is at the Combine this week.
00:37:47 People are debating whether he should even be at the Combine.
00:37:50 You know, in every roster, media report or whatever,
00:37:54 he's said he's 6'4", he measured in at 6'1".
00:37:57 Does have a big wingspan, he's like,
00:37:58 has like a 6'8" person's wingspan
00:38:00 and a 41 inch vertical, which is high.
00:38:03 I'll be up there soon.
00:38:04 - Wait, did he say he was 6'4" or was it his dad?
00:38:06 - It was listed, like he was listed
00:38:09 in all the media guides as 6'4".
00:38:11 - But that one's easy, you just say,
00:38:12 they measured him in shoes.
00:38:13 - Yeah, LeBron--
00:38:14 - Meme's trying to fix it now.
00:38:15 Meme's is definitely not gonna fix this.
00:38:16 - LeBron definitely told the media, yeah, he's 6'4".
00:38:19 - Yeah.
00:38:20 - Right, and then, and he played in a scrimmage.
00:38:23 He had four points, four rebounds,
00:38:25 but the four points are getting blasted out,
00:38:27 like by every single media outlet,
00:38:28 being like, "Bronny James at the Combine",
00:38:31 and he just hit a floater in like a shot.
00:38:34 And then you look up the stats being like,
00:38:35 oh, is he, you know, the floater was nice,
00:38:37 he had a nice floater, but then if you look up his stats,
00:38:40 it's like the same as what he was doing at USC,
00:38:42 and it's like, he's gonna get drafted,
00:38:44 it's just a tough spot, he's in a tough spot, I feel bad.
00:38:47 - I agree with you, I never thought I'd get here,
00:38:49 but I do agree with you because it's just a simple question,
00:38:52 would Bronny James be at the Combine and be drafted
00:38:56 if his name wasn't Bronny James?
00:38:57 The answer's no.
00:38:58 - No.
00:38:59 - Probably not.
00:39:00 - Absolutely not.
00:39:01 - Probably not, yeah.
00:39:02 - So it sucks, and he knows that deep down,
00:39:05 and it's like not his fault, he wants to just play ball.
00:39:07 - There's a, I mean, there is a chance
00:39:09 that a team would draft him though,
00:39:10 just to be like, come on, LeBron.
00:39:12 - They will, he's going to, I think.
00:39:13 - We're gonna talk about it with Woj.
00:39:14 - Yeah, I bet against it,
00:39:15 and that's probably why I've been tracking it so closely,
00:39:18 'cause when I first saw it, I was like,
00:39:19 I think it was over under 32 and a half,
00:39:22 and I thought it was the lock of the year,
00:39:24 and now I feel like he's gonna get drafted.
00:39:26 - Yeah, no-- - Possibly even high.
00:39:28 - Wait, he could get drafted anywhere in the second round,
00:39:31 and he'd lose that bet.
00:39:32 - Okay.
00:39:34 - What numbers?
00:39:37 - You said 32 and a half?
00:39:38 - Yeah.
00:39:41 - Did you know there's two rounds?
00:39:44 - Did you know there's 30 NBA teams, not 32?
00:39:46 - And there's two rounds?
00:39:47 - Right, but basically saying like--
00:39:50 - Oh, you think he's gonna be a first rounder, or basically?
00:39:52 - No, I think he's gonna be a,
00:39:53 like, that's what I thought, second round or worse.
00:39:56 - Got it, got it.
00:39:58 - That's what I bet on.
00:39:58 - Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's still a safe bet.
00:40:01 - After I bet it, obviously, I've looked into it more,
00:40:04 and the more the days go by, the worse I feel.
00:40:07 - That's what I was gonna say.
00:40:08 - But I also don't know what to believe.
00:40:09 - I think he's still gonna go in that 30s, 40s range,
00:40:13 so I think that's still a good bet.
00:40:14 - And then my cool throne, Jared Goff.
00:40:19 - Yeah, congrats, Jared.
00:40:21 Way to go, buddy.
00:40:22 When do we-- - His girl, oh.
00:40:24 - What, his fiance?
00:40:26 - His fiance.
00:40:27 - When do we ask for our money?
00:40:30 - That's a good question.
00:40:31 - How much does he owe us?
00:40:32 - Something.
00:40:34 - Probably like 10, I don't know what the agreement was,
00:40:36 but if it was--
00:40:38 - Should I do it now?
00:40:39 - 10%, probably 10 mil.
00:40:41 - How should we phrase this?
00:40:43 - 10% or Super Bowl suite with full bar.
00:40:47 - You should just Venmo request him for like $2 million.
00:40:49 - Oh, can you do that? - Just see what he does?
00:40:51 - Just see what happens, yeah.
00:40:53 - Is that possible?
00:40:54 - I don't know, probably not.
00:40:55 - No, he got-- - Oh no, Apple Cash.
00:40:57 Apple Cash.
00:40:58 - He got a bunch of money guaranteed too.
00:40:59 - Yeah. - It's a good contract for him.
00:41:01 - Request, how high can it go up?
00:41:03 - I feel like one of the best NFL contracts I've ever seen.
00:41:05 - It's good, yeah, you have to pay your quarterback
00:41:07 and the Lions had a choice to make,
00:41:09 probably a choice to make last year before last season.
00:41:13 Do you wanna draft somebody
00:41:14 or do you wanna try to just see what Jared's got?
00:41:17 They rolled Jared and he made 'em very happy.
00:41:20 - Shit, they don't let you do,
00:41:21 they don't let you do more than 10 grand?
00:41:24 - Write in the comments, expect--
00:41:27 - X, X, X 100. - 100 more of these.
00:41:30 - Okay.
00:41:31 - Yeah, just do parentheses one slash 100.
00:41:34 - All right, I'm doing, all right, Apple Pay.
00:41:36 - Very important thread.
00:41:37 - Requests, all right, so I send him the requests.
00:41:40 - If you send him one of those every day,
00:41:42 like put a calendar reminder,
00:41:43 he's probably gonna accept one.
00:41:46 - I think he might accept this first one just for--
00:41:48 - Okay, there we go.
00:41:49 I did $10,000 request and then parentheses first payment.
00:41:53 - Yep. (laughing)
00:41:54 (laughing)
00:41:57 - Good for him though, good for him.
00:42:00 When the trade happened, everybody was saying
00:42:02 they're gonna use Jared Goff as a bridge quarterback.
00:42:05 - Yeah. - Now he's not a bridge.
00:42:07 - No, it's awesome, I'm so happy for him.
00:42:09 - Yeah.
00:42:10 - It felt like there was, yeah,
00:42:12 when he got traded for the Rams, it's like,
00:42:13 oh, his career's over and now he's proven everyone wrong.
00:42:17 - Second career. - Yeah, love it.
00:42:19 - Love it.
00:42:20 - What were you saying about his fiance?
00:42:21 - Well, I was joking, I was saying my cool throne
00:42:24 is Jared Goff 'cause his fiance is a sports illustrator
00:42:27 model again and then was gonna mention the extension.
00:42:30 - Oh. - A little bait and switch.
00:42:32 - Gotcha. - The reverse way.
00:42:33 - Well, no, you guys kind of--
00:42:34 - No, you said-- - You guys cut me off,
00:42:36 I wasn't able to-- - No, you said Jared Goff first.
00:42:38 - I said Jared Goff. - Oh.
00:42:39 - And then I was gonna say because--
00:42:40 - Got it, got it, my bad. - His fiance just got announced
00:42:43 as a-- - But I cut you off
00:42:45 because I wanted to know how much money we should get.
00:42:46 - Right, yeah. - Yeah, that was fair.
00:42:48 - Yeah, that was fair. - Yeah, yeah.
00:42:49 - But congrats, X2. - Yeah, what a guy.
00:42:52 - Yes.
00:42:53 - My hot seat is portals.
00:42:54 - Yeah. - Yeah.
00:42:56 - Portals on the hot seat.
00:42:57 So there's a portal that was opened up a week ago
00:43:00 and it's a portal that one end of it is in New York City,
00:43:04 I believe Times Square, the other is in Dublin, Ireland
00:43:07 and they had to shut it down earlier today.
00:43:11 So they closed the portal down, they're trying to fix it.
00:43:13 Why was the portal closed down, you might ask?
00:43:15 Good question, it's a giant screen where you could step
00:43:17 in front of it and then you see a video of,
00:43:20 if you're in New York, you see Dublin, Ireland,
00:43:22 you get to wave to people, say whatever you want to them.
00:43:25 Well, some of the videos that have gone viral recently
00:43:28 have visitors that are lining up
00:43:30 pretending to snort cocaine.
00:43:32 They're throwing up the birds, two little fingers.
00:43:34 It says miming snorting cocaine.
00:43:36 - Okay. - So I don't know, yeah.
00:43:38 Like you're in New York City.
00:43:39 - Or Dublin. - Or Dublin
00:43:40 and you're pretending to snort cocaine.
00:43:42 - Got it.
00:43:43 - Some people have just flashed their boobs.
00:43:46 One visitor in Dublin pulled up an image of 9/11.
00:43:49 - Oh. - That showed the Twin Towers
00:43:50 burning and held it up to the portal camera
00:43:52 and people from New York took offense to that.
00:43:54 So they're switching it off temporarily
00:43:57 until they figure out a technical solution
00:43:59 to the inappropriate behavior.
00:44:01 They tried to re-upload the software to have blurring on it
00:44:05 where if they saw boobs, they could blur it.
00:44:07 I don't know, I don't know how that works.
00:44:08 Now you have some guy that's like
00:44:10 monitoring the portal 24/7.
00:44:12 - Yeah. - Hitting the blur button
00:44:13 but that wasn't satisfactory so they close it down on Tuesday
00:44:17 and they're hoping to resume the live stream
00:44:19 later on in the week.
00:44:20 What they did was they essentially created Twitter
00:44:23 in video format. - Yeah.
00:44:24 - Just like absolutely no repercussions, whatever.
00:44:26 If you get two random people on earth
00:44:28 and be like, "Here, hang out with this person
00:44:30 "on the other side of the world,"
00:44:32 you're gonna get people that are being dickheads about it.
00:44:33 - I love this story so much
00:44:35 because it was some tech nerds
00:44:38 that spent years and years coming up with this technology
00:44:42 and they just forgot the simple fact that people suck.
00:44:45 - People are assholes. - Yeah, like they,
00:44:46 they did everything right
00:44:48 and then they just didn't have one regular person
00:44:51 sitting in the room being like,
00:44:52 "Hey, is there any chance someone puts up
00:44:55 "like a picture of the Twin Towers?"
00:44:56 - Yeah. - And like no one
00:44:58 even said that and like, "Hey, is there any chance
00:44:59 "someone like flashes them, moons them,
00:45:02 "like does something really crass?"
00:45:04 Like nah, this is gonna be, everyone's gonna love this
00:45:07 because you get to connect across the world.
00:45:10 - It's cross-culture relationship building.
00:45:12 - Yeah, that-- - Between countries.
00:45:13 How great is that?
00:45:14 Technology has reached such an outstanding place
00:45:17 where now you can make friends with somebody
00:45:19 halfway around the world
00:45:20 and then you get in front of the camera
00:45:21 and you just do a line of cocaine in front of it.
00:45:23 I'm so fucking lit.
00:45:24 - This is dudes rock, dudes continue to rock.
00:45:27 - Yeah, so that's another good point is
00:45:28 what percentage of these activities
00:45:30 do you think were done by dudes?
00:45:31 I would say about 100% of them.
00:45:32 - I saw a girl flashing.
00:45:34 - Okay. - Okay.
00:45:35 - That's kind of a dude thing though.
00:45:37 - Yeah. - That's like a cool dude girl.
00:45:39 - If it was a girl on the other end of the portal,
00:45:41 she wouldn't just like flash a chick probably.
00:45:43 - Yeah. - Like, "Here dudes."
00:45:45 - Yeah.
00:45:46 - I think it was like old woman.
00:45:47 - Oh. - It's an old woman.
00:45:48 - Oh really? - On the other side.
00:45:49 - That feels like an Ireland thing.
00:45:50 - Open it back up. - Yeah.
00:45:51 - Open up that portal.
00:45:53 - Did you guys see the guy jerking off
00:45:55 with the gas in his ass?
00:45:56 - Yeah. - That was wild.
00:45:57 - Yeah. - Oh, PFT, I gotta shoot.
00:45:59 - No, I'm good, I'm good.
00:46:00 - No, no, no, no, no.
00:46:02 - Really makes you think.
00:46:03 - Yeah, see the thing is I'm gonna watch this video
00:46:06 and be like, "I wonder what this video is of."
00:46:07 And it's gonna be a guy jacking off with gas in his ass.
00:46:09 - No, you're just getting--
00:46:10 - Find it for us.
00:46:11 - You never, you're just giving yourself a little juice.
00:46:16 - Yeah, speaking of the portal, Jake, did you--
00:46:18 - What do you mean?
00:46:19 - Yeah, he was-- - I don't even know
00:46:20 how to describe it.
00:46:20 - He's getting himself going.
00:46:21 - He's topping himself off. - No, that's not him.
00:46:23 Jake, what did you think about Grant Hill's use of play
00:46:29 where Derek Lively and Chet Holmgren
00:46:32 both fell down at the same time?
00:46:34 - I didn't see it.
00:46:35 - This is the guy, hold on.
00:46:36 - Oh yeah, I mean, who out there hasn't done that?
00:46:38 - The worst is he gets seen and he's got a hog too.
00:46:41 - Yeah, it's not bad, that's soft.
00:46:42 - I like to think-- - So he's shooting,
00:46:46 he's injecting gasoline into his ass
00:46:48 and cranking the hog.
00:46:50 Okay, I need to know what college football team hat
00:46:52 it is that he's wearing.
00:46:53 - It looks like Tennessee.
00:46:54 - It looks like Tennessee orange to me.
00:46:56 - I like to believe that the person behind the camera
00:46:58 maybe yelled like, "Hey, you gotta pay inside first."
00:47:01 - Oh wait. - Something like that.
00:47:02 - What language, is that Italian?
00:47:04 - Oh yeah. - Yeah, this guy's a pervert.
00:47:05 - Yeah, big time pervert, actually.
00:47:07 - Oh, I just saw what you were talking about.
00:47:08 - Yeah, so Grant Hill, when Derek Lively
00:47:10 and Chet Holmgren both fell down last night,
00:47:13 he said, "The two towers falling down."
00:47:15 - I heard that, yeah.
00:47:16 I heard that, I chose that.
00:47:17 - People are getting mad, it's like, who cares?
00:47:19 I mean, yeah, it's like, he used the words wrong, whatever.
00:47:22 - Yeah, is that how you pump gas in Italy?
00:47:25 - Yeah, I think that's actually exactly
00:47:26 how you get it started.
00:47:27 - Yeah. - Yeah, you gotta prime it
00:47:29 in your asshole.
00:47:30 - Cranking off the gas. - That's a good video though.
00:47:33 You gotta admit. - It's a great video.
00:47:35 - That's one of those ones that like,
00:47:37 there's sometimes we share videos with each other
00:47:39 where I'm like, I wish you hadn't shared that.
00:47:40 - Yeah, that's a good video. - That's one you needed to see.
00:47:42 - I'm glad that I saw that, yeah.
00:47:43 - (laughing) That's a fucking huge--
00:47:45 - That's probably Max's relative
00:47:46 from somewhere way down the line.
00:47:47 - Oh yeah, that's definitely a Delente.
00:47:49 - Yeah. (laughing)
00:47:50 - He's got Delente all over him.
00:47:52 All right, my hot seat is, wait, fuck, I had it,
00:47:56 and then I lost it in my head.
00:47:59 I'll go to my cool throne, I'll come back to my hot seat
00:48:01 because I had one in my head and I've lost it.
00:48:04 My cool throne is college basketball
00:48:07 'cause Doug Gottlieb got a job.
00:48:08 - Yeah, I saw that, good for him.
00:48:09 - Yeah. - Very happy.
00:48:10 - He's UW Green Bay coach.
00:48:12 - Is he gonna be doing media while he does that?
00:48:14 - Yeah, he's doing his radio show, he's multitasking.
00:48:16 - Really? - Yeah.
00:48:18 - Oh shit, I didn't realize that.
00:48:18 - Which is unprecedented.
00:48:20 - That is pretty crazy.
00:48:22 Okay, good for Doug Gottlieb.
00:48:24 - Oh, I had a cool throne. - Rico's got a new team.
00:48:25 - Yeah, I had a cool throne too.
00:48:28 Cool throne, you can use this for your hot seat
00:48:30 in some way, shape, or form.
00:48:31 Your hot seat should be Aaron Rodgers.
00:48:33 - Oh yeah, that was what my hot seat was.
00:48:34 - 'Cause my cool throne is the NFL schedule release.
00:48:37 - Yes, that was what my hot seat was, yes.
00:48:39 - So today, Wednesday, the schedule release is coming,
00:48:42 but right now we've got some, what?
00:48:45 - No, you're about to say it.
00:48:47 - We've got a couple games that have been announced already,
00:48:49 but the full schedule's being released on Wednesday.
00:48:51 Hank is spicy right now. - He's spicy.
00:48:53 - No, no, it's spicy, I was agreeing with you.
00:48:54 That was like, I hate how they don't just like,
00:48:56 it's like-- - Agreed.
00:48:57 - You see stuff getting released today,
00:48:58 it's like, oh, the schedule's got released?
00:48:59 - Agreed. - No, that's tomorrow.
00:49:01 - You just tickle us. - Yeah.
00:49:02 I was agreeing, that was like,
00:49:04 I was like echoing your sentiment.
00:49:06 - Gotcha, so they've dropped a couple nuggets on us already.
00:49:09 They've got Ravens Chiefs opening up the season.
00:49:12 I'm gonna watch that game. - I like that.
00:49:14 - That's a good matchup.
00:49:15 We've got Eagles, Packers, and Brazil, obviously.
00:49:17 We've got the Jets and the 49ers
00:49:20 playing Monday Night Football in the opener.
00:49:23 - Wait, Monday Night Football in the opener?
00:49:25 - In the opener.
00:49:25 - Who played Monday Night Football in the opener last year?
00:49:29 - That's the Jets and the Bills playing last year.
00:49:31 - So, and that didn't go well.
00:49:33 - Well-- - They won.
00:49:34 - No, they won. - Yeah, it was a pregame.
00:49:35 - Oh yeah, they won. - Pregame went well.
00:49:36 - Yeah, the pregame went well.
00:49:37 - Yeah, just fans were very happy afterwards,
00:49:39 because they beat the Bills, remember that?
00:49:41 - Yeah, memes. - Yeah.
00:49:43 - Are they gonna have Aaron Rodgers come back out
00:49:44 with the American flag again?
00:49:46 - Somebody at the NFL office is a sick fuck.
00:49:49 - Yeah. - So, not only is it
00:49:50 Aaron Rodgers on Monday Night Football,
00:49:51 but it's also Floyd, the guy that was sacking Rodgers.
00:49:55 - Leonard Floyd, yeah.
00:49:56 - Leonard Floyd is now on the 49ers.
00:49:58 - Here for life.
00:49:59 - So, it's gonna be a matchup of Floyd
00:50:00 against Rodgers/Achilles again.
00:50:03 - Memes, how are you feeling?
00:50:07 - Bad, if Aaron Rodgers gets another season-ending injury,
00:50:10 I'm gonna strap a bomb to my chest
00:50:11 and go to the NFL office. (laughing)
00:50:13 And blow up.
00:50:15 - All right, so I'm not-- - Just for the first game.
00:50:17 - Just for the first game. - Okay.
00:50:18 - Season-ending injury.
00:50:20 - Memes, you're making me root
00:50:22 for an Aaron Rodgers injury so badly.
00:50:24 - Well, I'm not-- - It's gonna happen.
00:50:26 - I'm not rooting-- - I don't want to,
00:50:27 I don't want to, but since you just said that--
00:50:29 - Yeah, I'm not-- - I'd be a hero in New York.
00:50:32 - Memes, I am not rooting for an Aaron Rodgers injury,
00:50:34 because I saw it this morning and I tweeted out
00:50:37 Aaron Rodgers' other Achilles has,
00:50:40 like, can do the funniest thing possible.
00:50:42 Jets fans are being pussies about that.
00:50:44 I'm not hoping he gets hurt.
00:50:45 It would be-- - It'd be funny.
00:50:48 - Funny. - It'd be funny.
00:50:49 - Like, it wouldn't, I don't want it to happen.
00:50:51 - But, you kind of, sounds like you kind of do.
00:50:53 - No, if it happened, that would be crazy.
00:50:57 - That was the correct joke.
00:50:58 People are just taking their anger out
00:51:00 from the NFL onto you. - Got it.
00:51:01 - Which they should be taking out on the NFL
00:51:03 from schedule. - 'Cause I gotta remind
00:51:04 Jets fans, like, do you think, like,
00:51:06 I go online every day and just get abuse
00:51:09 about the quarterbacks that I root for.
00:51:11 - Yeah. - Every single day.
00:51:12 I'm like those, you remember the story
00:51:14 about, like, the Facebook quality control people
00:51:18 who had legit PTSD from all the horrific things they saw?
00:51:22 That's me in my mentions with Bears quarterbacks,
00:51:25 so I make one little joke.
00:51:27 Don't be a baby about it, I don't want him to get hurt.
00:51:29 - Yeah, I do not-- - I like Aaron Rodgers
00:51:31 on the Jets. - I do not want
00:51:32 Aaron Rodgers to get hurt, but if it did happen,
00:51:34 then we'd have to just be like, what the fuck is going on?
00:51:36 This is insane. - I might have to,
00:51:38 I'd have to delete that tweet if he got hurt.
00:51:41 - No, you have to let it stand.
00:51:42 - Actually, yeah, because memes would,
00:51:44 memes, bomb clip would definitely take precedent.
00:51:47 - Yeah, that'd be a big time they already know.
00:51:50 Also, second-- - I mean, after that,
00:51:53 I don't know how you can not root for it.
00:51:55 - I think memes is-- - He's put us in a spot.
00:51:58 - Memes is gonna get arrested.
00:51:59 That's what's gonna happen.
00:52:00 There's gonna be-- - No, he's gonna be dead.
00:52:01 - No, but right after he hypothetically
00:52:04 tears his other Achilles, there's gonna be the FBI
00:52:07 at memes' door taking him into custody.
00:52:10 They're gonna kick his door down.
00:52:11 - Yeah. - And then they're gonna
00:52:12 shoot Mr. Pear. (laughing)
00:52:14 He's coming at us, he's trying to attack us.
00:52:16 - Memes, at least it's not happening,
00:52:17 at least not in MetLife on that bad turf.
00:52:20 - Yeah, that's true.
00:52:21 - That was easy. - He'll be fine.
00:52:23 I wish they would've made it Sunday Night Football.
00:52:26 - Yeah. - Why, just 'cause
00:52:26 a different night of the week?
00:52:27 - Yeah. - Yeah.
00:52:28 - Yeah, just change the vibe up a little bit.
00:52:29 - I mean, Memes is right.
00:52:31 Aaron Rodgers is one for one tearing his Achilles
00:52:33 on Monday Night Football.
00:52:34 - Yep. - In his last one.
00:52:35 - Yeah, that's true.
00:52:36 That's true, he's not-- - In a Jets uniform.
00:52:37 - His only weakness. - Yeah.
00:52:39 - Just like the real Achilles.
00:52:40 - I hope he doesn't get hurt.
00:52:41 I want it on the record, stop being pussies, Jets fans.
00:52:43 - So there's another matchup
00:52:45 that another fan base is pissed off about.
00:52:46 The second Thursday night game is Dolphins-Bills,
00:52:49 but it's in Miami, and Dolphins fans are pissed off
00:52:54 because it's a night game, and the Dolphins are like,
00:52:57 our 12th man is the sun.
00:52:58 - Oh. - They're taking away
00:53:00 our game against, we were gonna have a home game
00:53:02 against Josh Allen where it was gonna be too hot for 'em,
00:53:04 and now they're not letting the sun come out.
00:53:06 And so this is the NFL hating the Dolphins again.
00:53:09 - Wow. - That to me is loser talk.
00:53:10 - That's the biggest reach of all time.
00:53:12 Also, night games are the best.
00:53:13 - Big time loser talk. - Yeah.
00:53:15 - You want night games. - You want your crowd
00:53:17 to be pumped up, a little bit drunk, a lot bit drunk,
00:53:20 and to be the big home field advantage.
00:53:23 They're counting on the sun to show up.
00:53:25 - Yeah. - Even just as fans,
00:53:26 if you're going to the game, I would imagine,
00:53:29 if you live in Miami.
00:53:30 - Are we gonna go to Bears-Patriots?
00:53:32 - Yeah, sure. - If the leaks are correct,
00:53:34 it's week four Thursday night.
00:53:36 - Hell yeah. - Yeah.
00:53:38 - Hell yeah. - I went through the schedule
00:53:39 'cause I saw the leaks too. - We could record after.
00:53:42 - Yeah, I mean, it's--
00:53:43 - We could actually record from,
00:53:45 maybe I'll get Vanny Woodhead fixed back up.
00:53:47 That would be sick. - Tattoo bat?
00:53:49 - Where is Vanny Woodhead? - Who knows?
00:53:51 (laughing)
00:53:53 - Get it fixed up, that thing is never getting here.
00:53:55 - I heard it might be getting here soon.
00:53:57 - Oh. - Really?
00:53:57 - I heard a rumor that somebody contacted someone
00:54:01 in this office to ask for assistance, getting Vanny Woodhead,
00:54:04 which is pretty much somebody in New York
00:54:07 calling our office and being like, can you do this for me?
00:54:09 I'm not gonna name any names as to who that might be.
00:54:11 - That person sounds super reliable too.
00:54:13 - I'm not gonna name any names.
00:54:14 - I might be partially to blame
00:54:16 'cause I do think I walked up to the somebody in this office
00:54:21 and just walked by and was like,
00:54:22 hey, we should get Vanny Woodhead here.
00:54:25 - Yeah.
00:54:26 - And then maybe she, 'cause she's very good at her job,
00:54:29 might've followed up. - Okay.
00:54:31 - And offered assistance. - Offered assistance.
00:54:34 - Okay, all right. - So it might be,
00:54:35 but yeah, it'd be great if it just showed up.
00:54:37 - It would be great.
00:54:38 The perfect tailgate.
00:54:40 - Yeah, right, that's what I'm saying.
00:54:42 Okay, so my cool tour, I'm Woz Dogg Gottlieb.
00:54:45 My hot seat is Eric Adams, New York mayor, our former mayor.
00:54:50 Did you guys see this clip?
00:54:53 - It's not gonna be as funny
00:54:54 as when he went through that room.
00:54:55 Showing like, here's, look, it's an eight ball of cocaine.
00:54:57 Look behind this pillow.
00:54:58 Oh, it's a gun.
00:55:00 - It's not as funny.
00:55:01 That was the funniest clip.
00:55:02 It's more like, what did he just say?
00:55:04 He was essentially saying that we have to find a way
00:55:07 to have illegal immigrants get jobs in New York
00:55:11 and in America.
00:55:12 And he said, they're excellent swimmers.
00:55:15 Why can't, and we have a lifeguard shortage.
00:55:17 - How do we have a large body of people
00:55:20 that are in our city and country
00:55:23 that are excellent swimmers,
00:55:24 and at the same time, we need lifeguards.
00:55:28 And the only obstacle is that we won't give them
00:55:31 the right to work to become a lifeguard.
00:55:33 That just doesn't make sense.
00:55:35 - Okay.
00:55:36 Did he really say that?
00:55:38 Eric Adams is a fucking maniac.
00:55:40 - Pull up the clip, he said that.
00:55:42 He's fucking crazy.
00:55:44 The woman next to him was like,
00:55:45 kind of did like a, wait, what?
00:55:47 What did you just say?
00:55:48 - Yeah, they're excellent swimmers.
00:55:51 - They're excellent swimmers,
00:55:52 and we have a lifeguard shortage.
00:55:54 - Let's see. - Here's the clip.
00:55:56 - Jobs that we are in high demand,
00:55:59 we could expedite.
00:56:01 How do we have a large body of people
00:56:05 that are in our city and country
00:56:08 that are excellent swimmers,
00:56:10 and at the same time, we need lifeguards?
00:56:13 (laughing)
00:56:15 - He fucking said it.
00:56:17 - That's like a wind horse.
00:56:18 - It's crazy.
00:56:20 I just figured out the whole illegal immigrants situation.
00:56:24 - That is wild. - Lifeguards.
00:56:26 Wild. - Maniac.
00:56:28 - How do you even know there's a lifeguard shortage?
00:56:31 Of all the things that you're dealing with
00:56:32 as the mayor of New York,
00:56:34 I can't imagine lifeguard shortages is anywhere on any list.
00:56:38 - Yeah, what even?
00:56:39 - Like the East River?
00:56:41 - We're not talking about Long Island.
00:56:43 - He's the mayor of New York City.
00:56:44 - Correct.
00:56:46 - There's one beach in Staten Island.
00:56:48 - There was one-- - And there's probably
00:56:49 nobody that wants to work there.
00:56:50 - Yeah, there was one little rocky beach
00:56:53 where I used to live in Brooklyn on the East River.
00:56:56 Didn't need a lifeguard.
00:56:58 No one went in the water.
00:56:59 - There's Coney Island.
00:57:00 - Yup.
00:57:01 Okay, that's fair.
00:57:02 Coney Island. - We gotta hire people
00:57:03 for Coney Island.
00:57:04 - We forgot about Coney Island.
00:57:05 - You gotta watch out for the Coney Island box jellyfish,
00:57:07 which are just filled diapers
00:57:08 that are floating out in the water.
00:57:09 - 50 lifeguards gotta get you over the hump
00:57:12 for the shortage.
00:57:13 - Yeah. - Like how many--
00:57:14 - Good start.
00:57:15 - How many could you really need?
00:57:17 - There's that other island.
00:57:19 - Georgia's? - Randall's Island?
00:57:21 - No. - Governor's Island?
00:57:22 - No, no, there's another-- - Roosevelt.
00:57:25 - No, it's not-- - Ellis.
00:57:27 - No. - Epstein.
00:57:28 - Okay, we're just naming islands, boys.
00:57:30 We got it. (laughs)
00:57:31 - Hank's thinking about Epstein, huh?
00:57:33 Hank. - That's the first island
00:57:34 that came to your mind, Hank? - You're having a bad show
00:57:35 with this. - A lot of islands
00:57:36 out there, buddy.
00:57:37 - There, you're having a bad show.
00:57:39 Oh, I guess, is Block Island part of New York City?
00:57:43 - No.
00:57:43 - That's like Rhode Island. - It's Rhode Island.
00:57:45 - No, what's the one where--
00:57:47 - Fire Island? - Fire Island.
00:57:48 - Oh, yeah. - I was gonna say
00:57:49 where the gay people go. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:57:51 - Yeah, Fire Island.
00:57:52 Fire Island is-- - I think that's Long Island.
00:57:54 - That's Long Island. - Yeah.
00:57:55 - It's looking like it might be part of--
00:57:58 - Also, there's pools in Central Park.
00:58:00 - They actually did build a pool in Dumbo, too,
00:58:03 in the East River, which is real kind of fucked up.
00:58:06 They built a pool inside the water.
00:58:07 - Yeah, it's one of the ones that has the divider
00:58:10 in between, so you're in the East River,
00:58:11 but not in East River water.
00:58:13 - Rockaway Beach is what I was looking for.
00:58:15 - Ah, okay, yep. - There it is.
00:58:16 - Yep, in Queens. - It's that little
00:58:18 fucking thing that comes out, yeah.
00:58:19 And they got Coney Island, yeah, Manhattan Beach, okay.
00:58:22 So there's a couple.
00:58:23 - They're excellent swimmers.
00:58:24 - Excellent swimmers.
00:58:26 That was a little, we got a,
00:58:27 that was a little New York geography for everyone.
00:58:30 - Yeah. (laughing)
00:58:31 - All right, Jake.
00:58:32 By the way, Jake, great job on the call.
00:58:34 - Thank you, guys. - You were fantastic.
00:58:35 - Appreciate your support. - Yeah, yes.
00:58:36 It was awesome.
00:58:38 Also, I liked your TikTok when you showed us
00:58:41 behind the scenes. - Thank you.
00:58:42 - And like, all your prep, it's a fucking lot of work.
00:58:45 - It is. - Yeah, Jake,
00:58:46 I thought you did a great job this weekend.
00:58:48 Congratulations on the real two
00:58:51 that you shot on 17th and Saga.
00:58:53 - Yeah, congrats, Jake, that was great.
00:58:54 - As a great real two, Jake, that you shot.
00:58:56 - Yeah, emphasizing the real two,
00:58:57 because people threw allegations
00:59:00 that the one was not real.
00:59:01 So that's why. - Ah, that's why.
00:59:02 - That's why I said it. - That's why you said it.
00:59:04 - But people are twisting and trying to stir the pot
00:59:06 for me saying it's a PFT one.
00:59:08 I would never do that.
00:59:09 - Well, PFT did hit it on the green and said,
00:59:11 "That's a two." - Yeah.
00:59:12 - Because Berman said it, so people were saying,
00:59:14 "Well, it's kind of a fake two."
00:59:16 - Actually, nobody said it was a fake two at the time.
00:59:18 Now everyone's saying it's a fake two
00:59:19 because Jake said his was a real two.
00:59:21 - A real. - If Berman tells me--
00:59:23 - The most hard emphasis on real I've ever heard.
00:59:26 - It was a whole and one haters.
00:59:27 - It was a hard R. - That's what it was.
00:59:29 - No, that was, I think you should go right at PFT.
00:59:31 - Never. - If you're like,
00:59:32 "PFT, you're a pussy, I got a real two."
00:59:35 - Max, I think you should shut the fuck up.
00:59:37 Hey, is anybody out there shocked
00:59:39 that Max has an opinion about the number two?
00:59:42 - Oh. - Oh, yeah, two.
00:59:44 Two sodas, no.
00:59:45 - Well, no, also-- - I was gonna say--
00:59:46 - That's second place. - Actually, now that
00:59:48 you bring it up, yeah, two sodas and finishing in second.
00:59:51 - And clogging your toilet.
00:59:53 - Never did that. - People forget
00:59:53 you clogged your toilet. - Never did that.
00:59:55 - Chris Berman was on the podcast and said--
00:59:58 - It's a two if you hit it on the green.
00:59:59 You did that, so that's a real rule.
01:00:00 - Yeah, hit it to 15 feet. - That's not a real rule.
01:00:03 - No, it's a Boomer rule, and so I'm gonna count it.
01:00:05 Boomer says it's a two, it's a two.
01:00:07 - So if you got a real two-- - Jake's was a real two.
01:00:08 - Jake's was a real two. - But Jake's was a real--
01:00:10 - You got a Boomer two, he got a real two.
01:00:12 - He's being a real asshole right now.
01:00:14 (laughing)
01:00:16 - Oh, man. - Jake, how far away
01:00:17 from the pen was your shot?
01:00:19 - It was about 27 feet. - Oh, that's cute.
01:00:21 - Jake, the good news is you could win this argument
01:00:24 if we just do another two hours of this show,
01:00:26 'cause we'll die in here.
01:00:27 (laughing)
01:00:28 - Sweat us out. - Yeah, fair enough.
01:00:31 No, it was a good shot, Jake.
01:00:32 - If you guys-- - I was happy for you.
01:00:33 - Thank you, if I was responsible--
01:00:34 - Until you said real two. - I would just
01:00:37 probably join you. - No, if you were--
01:00:39 (laughing)
01:00:40 - I'm the only one who's not killing myself
01:00:42 in this booth today. - I don't want that.
01:00:42 I don't want that, that's the easy way out.
01:00:44 If you were responsible for our deaths,
01:00:45 you'd have to strap a bomb and go to the NFL headquarters.
01:00:48 - No, you'd have to do a show first,
01:00:50 and then people would really lay it on thick.
01:00:54 - Do a live stream at the end of this podcast,
01:00:56 I will detonate myself. (laughing)
01:00:58 - Oh, that would be electric. - We'd get so many numbers.
01:01:00 - Holy shit. - That's too far.
01:01:02 - That's only if you kill us. - Should that be our NFL bet
01:01:05 this year? - If somebody dies.
01:01:06 - Detonate bet?
01:01:08 - If you guys all died, Jake and I would put out
01:01:10 a banger the next day. - No, you wouldn't.
01:01:12 - Oh yeah, banger. - What would you talk about?
01:01:15 - Your death. - Okay, that's true.
01:01:16 Good point. - You remember when they died?
01:01:18 - Yeah, it would be like 10 minutes,
01:01:20 it'd be like, yeah, they died.
01:01:21 - It'd be a roast. - Last show ever.
01:01:23 But people would listen. - No, the bet should be
01:01:25 somebody should get shot.
01:01:27 Fleshy part of the thigh. - No.
01:01:31 - What?
01:01:32 Sopranos did it.
01:01:33 - Yeah. - Someone should get
01:01:35 Phil Leotardo'd.
01:01:37 - That's when he got his tape rolled over.
01:01:38 - Someone should have to do the gas station.
01:01:40 - Oh, I like that.
01:01:42 I like that.
01:01:43 If we blur it out, I'm willing to do that.
01:01:46 - To completion. - Yeah, no, if we blur
01:01:49 that video out that we put out,
01:01:51 I'm willing to have that be the stakes.
01:01:53 - We'll talk about it.
01:01:55 - I mean, that would be so funny if someone had to put
01:01:57 a fucking gas up their ass while they tried to jerk off.
01:02:01 - You accidentally light yourself on fire?
01:02:04 Somebody's like, he died protesting a noble cause.
01:02:06 - No, he's jacking off at a gas station.
01:02:08 - No, no, no, you don't understand.
01:02:10 This is because we did four picks on Christmas Day.
01:02:12 I lost because of that.
01:02:15 Okay.
01:02:16 Go ahead, yeah, GK.
01:02:19 We're all over the place.
01:02:21 - My hot seat is Zach Campbell.
01:02:22 Zach Campbell has some competition because something crazy
01:02:25 had happened in Seattle last night.
01:02:28 And this guy wasn't planning on it,
01:02:30 but he caught a foul ball on back-to-back pitches
01:02:34 in the same exact spot.
01:02:35 - What?
01:02:36 - That might be harder than like the lottery,
01:02:38 a hole in one, like it's crazy.
01:02:41 - It's crazy.
01:02:42 - That's crazy.
01:02:42 - Crazy.
01:02:43 - Is that more impressive than Fernando Tatis
01:02:45 hitting two grand slams in the same inning?
01:02:48 - I think so.
01:02:49 I don't know.
01:02:50 - I think it might be.
01:02:51 'Cause how many people go to-
01:02:53 - Because that's complete luck.
01:02:54 - Yeah.
01:02:55 - Tatis, you have to have some skill.
01:02:56 So that's just crazier.
01:02:58 - Yeah, no, that's insane.
01:03:00 - Did he actually catch both of them?
01:03:02 - It may have balanced, but either way.
01:03:03 - Okay, he caught the first one off his chest.
01:03:05 - Yeah, 'cause I was gonna say that's skill too.
01:03:06 If he actually caught both of them,
01:03:08 then that too is skill.
01:03:09 - And then here's the second one.
01:03:09 - I think the second one he had to bend down.
01:03:11 - Yeah, second one looked like it bounced
01:03:15 right in front of him.
01:03:16 - But that's insane.
01:03:17 - It was nuts when I saw it.
01:03:20 I was like, Jesus Christ.
01:03:21 And you're right, Zach Hample is definitely like,
01:03:23 he's gonna use that as motivation.
01:03:24 - It's not him.
01:03:25 - Okay, so this guy's wearing a real low-fitting hat.
01:03:27 He's got big sunglasses on.
01:03:29 Nobody else has sunglasses in the crowd.
01:03:32 There's a chance that this guy was like,
01:03:34 skipping out on work and trying to lay low at the ballpark.
01:03:37 And then he caught two foul balls back to back.
01:03:41 And then no chance he gets away with it now.
01:03:43 - Yeah.
01:03:44 - Yeah, so that was crazy.
01:03:45 - Oh wait, breaking news.
01:03:46 Breaking news.
01:03:48 - It's hotter in there?
01:03:49 (imitating horn)
01:03:50 - It's hot as fuck in here.
01:03:51 Breaking news.
01:03:52 I have received a response to our payment request.
01:03:57 I'm not allowed to pay off gambling debts.
01:04:01 - That's a good response.
01:04:02 - Oh, that is a good response.
01:04:03 - You're in this situation, you're e-pay.
01:04:05 - Yeah, yeah, that's a very good response by Jared.
01:04:07 He'll pay us some money.
01:04:11 - That's smart.
01:04:13 - That's a great response.
01:04:15 And then I wanna respond being like,
01:04:17 I swear it's not gambling debts, but.
01:04:20 - It is.
01:04:21 - Yeah.
01:04:22 Okay, your cool throne.
01:04:23 - My cool throne, we talk about it
01:04:24 with Shane Bacon a little bit,
01:04:25 but the AWLs because the PGA Championship
01:04:28 put Brooks Koepka, Max Homa in the same group.
01:04:31 - Yes.
01:04:32 - Love it.
01:04:33 - Yeah.
01:04:34 - Our guys.
01:04:35 - And Spieth who's just an absolute wild card.
01:04:36 - Yeah, but Spieth is definitely a name
01:04:38 that you look at and you're like, oh, what if?
01:04:41 - For sure.
01:04:41 - What if this was seven years ago?
01:04:43 - He'll either be like crazy erratic or crazy hot,
01:04:45 but he's an entertaining, he's a super entertaining golfer.
01:04:48 - He just better play fast.
01:04:50 - They both play fast.
01:04:51 I saw people saying, Brooks is gonna have to walk slow.
01:04:55 I don't know about the, I don't know if this is true.
01:04:57 I don't wanna say this on the record, but I am.
01:05:00 They were saying that Spieth and Max are both really fast.
01:05:06 So they were joking that Brooks is gonna have to walk slow.
01:05:10 Like he's gonna have to try and slow himself down.
01:05:12 - Oh, I see what you're saying.
01:05:13 - So they think they're too fast for.
01:05:14 - I think Brooks will go as fast as anyone
01:05:16 will allow him to.
01:05:17 - Yeah, he just steps up and hits it sometimes.
01:05:19 - All right, so.
01:05:20 - The PGA account should take a picture of them
01:05:21 and say, what do you think these guys are talking about?
01:05:24 - Yeah, they're probably talking about us.
01:05:27 - Yeah, definitely.
01:05:28 - The narcissists.
01:05:29 - Definitely talking about us.
01:05:30 - That's all, if you've been on the show one time,
01:05:32 that's all you ever think about.
01:05:34 - They're probably like, can you believe that Max thought
01:05:38 PFT was talking about two sodas
01:05:39 when he was really talking about him
01:05:41 finishing second and everything?
01:05:42 - Yeah, he'll definitely say that.
01:05:43 - Or maybe they're like, can you believe
01:05:45 that Jake's trying to kill them via the thermostat?
01:05:49 - Yeah, or maybe like they get a birdie on a par three.
01:05:52 That was a real two, Max.
01:05:53 (laughing)
01:05:56 - Okay, all right, let's get to our interviews.
01:05:58 We've got great interviews, Woj.
01:05:59 - I definitely got that wrong.
01:06:01 - That's okay, we're not a fact check podcast.
01:06:03 We never have been.
01:06:04 - Yeah, they're slow.
01:06:05 - Oh, okay. - Confirm slow.
01:06:06 - God damn it, that's bad.
01:06:08 - I didn't say it on the record.
01:06:09 - So you got it totally wrong.
01:06:11 - Yeah.
01:06:12 (laughing)
01:06:14 - But no, he got it kind of half right by being wrong
01:06:17 because Brooks will be walking slow
01:06:19 so that he can not stand over his ball for a long time.
01:06:23 - Yes.
01:06:24 - Apologies.
01:06:27 - Do you wish that on golf courses, Hank,
01:06:28 the holes were a little bit smaller?
01:06:30 - No.
01:06:32 - Teeny tiny?
01:06:33 - Wish they were bigger.
01:06:34 (laughing)
01:06:34 Wish they were bigger.
01:06:35 I wish it was like the soccer golf holes.
01:06:38 - Tiny hole?
01:06:39 It's a big old hole.
01:06:40 (laughing)
01:06:41 - All right, let's get to our--
01:06:42 - Hank hates it because there's 18 of them.
01:06:43 He wishes there was maybe one less, couple less.
01:06:46 (laughing)
01:06:48 - Stop it.
01:06:50 - All right, let's get to our interview.
01:06:51 Woj and Shane Bacon.
01:06:55 Before we get to Woj, he's brought to you by Priceline.

01:07:03 I love a good all inclusive resort.
01:07:05 So good.
01:07:06 Little pro tip, if you go to all inclusive,
01:07:08 stick to the beer.
01:07:09 Get the beer that's out of the bottles, out of the cans.
01:07:11 They can't water that down.
01:07:12 My happy place, you know what my happy place is?
01:07:15 It's Greece.
01:07:16 I'm gonna go to Greece this summer.
01:07:17 I'm using Priceline to get there.

01:07:57 And now here's Woj.
01:07:58 Okay, we now welcome on a very, very special guest.
01:08:03 He is the source of all sources.
01:08:06 It is Adrian Wojnowski, Woj, Woj Bombs from ESPN,
01:08:11 the ultimate NBA insider.
01:08:14 Woj, first of all, thank you for coming by to the office.
01:08:17 We appreciate it.
01:08:18 Guys, this is an honor.
01:08:19 Okay, I love it.
01:08:20 This is an honor to be in here.
01:08:21 I love it.
01:08:22 Now-
01:08:23 I don't take this couch lightly.
01:08:23 I was gonna say, because I have to ask
01:08:25 before we even get started,
01:08:26 we've had Schefter on many times.
01:08:28 He's a good friend of ours.
01:08:29 Will you be looking at your phone
01:08:31 in case there's any breaking news
01:08:33 while you're recording this?
01:08:34 'Cause Schefter gets nervous when he has to do
01:08:36 an hour long of not looking at his phone.
01:08:39 It'll probably be Schefter chasing fantasy basketball
01:08:43 injury information.
01:08:44 Yeah.
01:08:45 That's what wakes me up at three in the morning.
01:08:47 Is that maniac?
01:08:48 Yeah.
01:08:49 Do you have any beef with him?
01:08:50 Because he's like-
01:08:51 I have a lot of beef with him about that.
01:08:52 (laughing)
01:08:53 He's starting to-
01:08:53 But you know what?
01:08:54 He's a one man-
01:08:55 He's a coach on the NBA now.
01:08:56 But you know what?
01:08:57 There'll be times I'm embarrassed
01:08:58 that I'm like, I'm not on top of that injury.
01:09:01 Yeah.
01:09:02 But he is.
01:09:03 Yeah.
01:09:04 Like, hey, is so-and-so coming back?
01:09:04 And I'm like, shit, I didn't realize
01:09:06 he was out for two games.
01:09:07 So he's-
01:09:08 He's on it.
01:09:09 There's no one like him.
01:09:10 What about when he dips his toes into NBA news?
01:09:12 Do you like get off, or do you give that to him?
01:09:14 Do you give him a little morsel just to keep him happy?
01:09:17 'Cause you should start doing it to him.
01:09:18 I'm sure you have NFL contacts.
01:09:20 No, no.
01:09:21 None?
01:09:22 He loves doing that every year.
01:09:25 Yeah.
01:09:26 And he always, he's wanted to trade off.
01:09:28 I'm saying, I do not want to break NFL news.
01:09:31 That's for you.
01:09:32 But he's dipped his toe in,
01:09:33 and there may have, or may not have been a negotiation
01:09:36 on a couple veteran minimums in Toronto over time
01:09:41 where Adam was ready to dip in.
01:09:44 Yeah, I mean, you should just do it one time in the NFL.
01:09:46 Just to let people know that you can do it.
01:09:48 That's a possibility.
01:09:49 And then it would actually be good for Schefter
01:09:51 because it would make him work harder
01:09:52 because he'd be like-
01:09:53 He should work harder.
01:09:54 Yeah, he doesn't work hard enough.
01:09:55 That's the one thing they say about Adam Schefter,
01:09:57 doesn't work hard enough.
01:09:58 Do you guys ever compare screen time on your phones?
01:10:00 I think he has you beat 'cause he's got,
01:10:01 doesn't he have a couple?
01:10:02 He has two phones.
01:10:03 Yeah.
01:10:04 You have two phones?
01:10:05 I have two phones.
01:10:06 I got a new one like two months ago,
01:10:09 and I haven't figured out how to turn it on yet.
01:10:11 Okay.
01:10:11 Because ESPN gives you a number.
01:10:14 You have your own phone, which I just kept that number,
01:10:16 and there's an ESPN phone,
01:10:17 and I couldn't remember what the number was.
01:10:19 And so I brought it to our tech people.
01:10:21 I'm like, "Can you get this thing turned on?"
01:10:23 And then they couldn't the one day.
01:10:24 I took it back and it's been sitting in my bag.
01:10:28 I should probably get that one turned on by free agency.
01:10:31 This is a very relatable story
01:10:33 that like the most powerful phone in all of NBA
01:10:36 can't get his second one on.
01:10:38 Yeah.
01:10:38 As long as one's on, then you're good.
01:10:40 Can I say something about screen time?
01:10:41 Yeah.
01:10:42 Who gives a fuck?
01:10:43 I agree.
01:10:44 I don't look at it.
01:10:45 Who gives a fuck?
01:10:45 I agree.
01:10:46 How much screen time you have.
01:10:47 Yeah.
01:10:48 They try to shame us.
01:10:49 That's all it is.
01:10:50 It's like, yeah, my screen time
01:10:52 on a college football Saturday is gonna be insane.
01:10:54 I've never turned, I know that's part of the app, right?
01:10:56 Yeah.
01:10:57 I've never turned that on.
01:10:57 Smart.
01:10:58 It's like NBA teams bragging about cap space.
01:11:01 Yeah.
01:11:02 And like how many draft picks we have.
01:11:04 We're gonna hang banners.
01:11:05 Yeah.
01:11:06 Like, who cares about your screen time?
01:11:08 I know.
01:11:09 I do think you probably have,
01:11:10 across all of Twitter, X, whatever they're calling it,
01:11:13 you are probably the guy that has the most people
01:11:15 who have notifications turned on.
01:11:17 So like when you tweet anything,
01:11:19 there's millions of phones across the country.
01:11:22 You're essentially texting all of America right now.
01:11:24 And then if I tweet like a subtweet
01:11:27 about us getting a recruit at St. Bonaventure,
01:11:30 everybody's like, we don't care, man.
01:11:31 We don't care.
01:11:32 We don't stick to the script here.
01:11:34 I know.
01:11:35 We want the news.
01:11:35 But I do.
01:11:36 And so, but I always, I know those are coming.
01:11:39 I try to be kind of judicious with like,
01:11:42 I know people have notifications,
01:11:43 but you know, once in a while I stray from character.
01:11:47 You should do one that's just like eating a cheeseburger.
01:11:51 Just like, or something, you know,
01:11:52 like whatever you're doing at that moment,
01:11:53 just be like watching some TV.
01:11:56 We were in the office the other day and I asked,
01:11:58 we were in studio, I asked Perk and Malika,
01:12:01 I said, how much would you pay me to tweet this out?
01:12:03 And I texted both of them.
01:12:04 Let me see if I have it here.
01:12:06 I said, how much would you,
01:12:07 I said, it would be my last day at ESPN.
01:12:10 (laughing)
01:12:11 It was my last day.
01:12:12 I said, let me find this.
01:12:14 Hold on, let me find these two guys.
01:12:15 - I like to watch doesn't fully know how to work his phone.
01:12:17 - There it is.
01:12:18 Okay, no, no, no.
01:12:19 Okay. - It's great.
01:12:20 - I texted Perk and Malika Andrews.
01:12:21 I said, I'm gonna tweet this out.
01:12:22 You ready?
01:12:23 Said, Kendrick Perkins is finalizing a four year,
01:12:26 $26.8 million deal to become the next coach
01:12:29 of the Los Angeles Lakers.
01:12:31 So it's just hell yes, yeah.
01:12:32 I said to them, what would happen in the next five minutes?
01:12:36 - Oh man.
01:12:37 - I mean, people would have to run with it.
01:12:38 - Yeah.
01:12:39 - It would be like CBS breaking news.
01:12:40 - I had the number, it seemed,
01:12:41 26.8. - Yeah, that's about right.
01:12:42 - It seems like he's got the details.
01:12:43 - Yeah, so speaking of the Lakers,
01:12:46 is JJ Reddick gonna get that job?
01:12:48 - He's a real candidate.
01:12:49 - Yeah, and this just kind of happened out of,
01:12:51 I mean, we know JJ and we've had him on a bunch.
01:12:54 Like I know that he's very successful in media
01:12:58 and now it feels like all this momentum
01:13:00 is going like, oh, he wants to coach.
01:13:01 - Listen, I can't speak for him about his level of interest.
01:13:04 I think all of these things have intrigued him
01:13:06 because I mean, he's so talented.
01:13:09 He could do whatever he wants.
01:13:11 But there's no question there's an interest
01:13:13 on the Lakers part.
01:13:13 They've been making calls about him, trying to,
01:13:17 I know there hasn't been anything with him.
01:13:20 They haven't really met with any candidates yet.
01:13:23 They're gonna start this week,
01:13:24 calling for permission on guys.
01:13:26 I think they're gonna take their time with this search.
01:13:28 There's no like obvious candidates right now for,
01:13:30 I think especially the teams who are trying to win,
01:13:32 or win now teams.
01:13:34 There just aren't like obvious candidates out there
01:13:37 where like, you know, especially Boutonhoser
01:13:38 being off the board championship coach,
01:13:41 where I think teams are having to be creative
01:13:44 with how they look at this.
01:13:45 And so look at a lot of different guys.
01:13:47 But you know, listen, if he wanted to be a GM,
01:13:50 there'd be interest in him and talking to him,
01:13:52 head coach and, you know,
01:13:54 my, maybe my greatest claim to fame in this
01:13:58 when it's over is I started JJ on the podcast.
01:14:02 - Yeah. - When I was at Yahoo!
01:14:03 The Vertical, I said to him, you know,
01:14:05 we're starting this site alongside Yahoo!
01:14:06 The Vertical, you wanna write some stories
01:14:09 during the season about like being a player,
01:14:12 trade deadline, what that's like?
01:14:13 And he's like, that'll feel like homework.
01:14:15 And I'd be worried about it, I'm not doing that.
01:14:17 I said, I get it.
01:14:17 And I was like, how about a podcast?
01:14:20 And he goes, let me think about a couple of days.
01:14:21 And he came back, first podcast he did was with Steve Nash.
01:14:24 And I'm like, and Steve Nash was up for,
01:14:27 I think his name was being talked about
01:14:28 maybe to be the president in Phoenix at that time.
01:14:30 And so I'm like, should I just say to JJ,
01:14:32 hey, you might wanna bring that up with him, see how he reacts.
01:14:34 I'm like, I'm not gonna tell him what to do.
01:14:36 Do what you want.
01:14:37 So they send the audio of the pod.
01:14:38 Hey, welcome to JJ Reddick here with Steve Nash.
01:14:40 Hey, you can take that president's job in Phoenix.
01:14:43 I was like, oh, this guy's gonna be.
01:14:44 - Yeah. - Yeah.
01:14:45 - All right, so you should get some residuals
01:14:47 from JJ's podcasting career.
01:14:49 - I probably should check on that.
01:14:49 - He's with LeBron now.
01:14:51 - I think the Lakers have had conversations with JJ Reddick.
01:14:54 There's a podcast out there where it's LeBron.
01:14:56 - Yeah, that's true.
01:14:57 - And they're talking on a weekly basis.
01:14:58 - About basketball. - About basketball
01:15:00 and what the Lakers do sometimes, yeah.
01:15:02 - He might just play that as his interview.
01:15:04 - Yeah.
01:15:05 - Play along with your star.
01:15:06 - Yeah, for a guy like JJ,
01:15:07 do you think that he could make that transition
01:15:10 to being a head coach?
01:15:11 He's not been a head coach before.
01:15:12 He's studied the game, obviously.
01:15:13 He's been an analyst,
01:15:14 but there's a lot of stuff that goes into coaching a team.
01:15:17 - I agree.
01:15:18 - That is not anything that he has any background in.
01:15:21 - A ton of stuff.
01:15:22 And I think he can do it.
01:15:24 It has been done, but I think it's really,
01:15:27 I think it's harder than ever to be a head coach in the NBA.
01:15:30 I think in a lot of cases,
01:15:32 you have less power and say over what's going on.
01:15:36 In a lot of places, you talk about
01:15:38 like the pecking order of power.
01:15:40 It's like the owner, the owner's kid,
01:15:44 who is inheriting the team, right?
01:15:45 The owner, the owner's kid, they're ahead of you.
01:15:47 The president GM of the team's ahead of you.
01:15:50 The star player's ahead of you.
01:15:52 And the star player's agent is probably ahead of you.
01:15:54 - Yeah. - And say,
01:15:55 and maybe even your second best player and his agent,
01:15:57 you're like seventh or eighth, ninth.
01:15:58 - That's crazy. - And like, not in every case.
01:16:00 We know the guys who have won big, have big voice,
01:16:03 but I think it's harder than ever to coach in the league.
01:16:07 It takes more, but in terms of just the organization,
01:16:10 staff, how to build out like your staff and practice plans
01:16:15 and all of the things, it's not just drawing up plays.
01:16:19 And then, you know, being able to get buy-in
01:16:22 from an NBA locker room is hard.
01:16:24 - Yeah. - It's hard.
01:16:25 - So when it comes to this Lakers and Suns jobs,
01:16:27 and I know, look, if you get,
01:16:29 there's only 30 of these jobs.
01:16:31 So if someone gets offered the job,
01:16:32 they're gonna take the job.
01:16:33 But is there any feel going forward
01:16:37 that like a Lakers or Suns job, aging superstars,
01:16:41 is there any feel like this might be just a death sentence
01:16:44 because whatever, I mean, we've seen it with Frank Vogel
01:16:47 and Darvin Ham, like you're the one who gets blamed.
01:16:50 It's not the players, it's you.
01:16:51 So like if you walk into that job
01:16:54 and you don't have success right away,
01:16:55 it's gonna be you, not anyone else.
01:16:57 - Yeah, and listen, if you're Frank Vogel
01:16:59 and you signed a five-year deal in Phoenix last year,
01:17:02 and you get whacked after one year,
01:17:04 you're walking away with four years of guaranteed money.
01:17:06 Darvin Ham had a four-year deal, makes it two years,
01:17:09 goes to the Western Finals, wins, what, 47 games this year.
01:17:13 And Mike Budenholzer, five-year deal,
01:17:17 you know, about $10, $11 million a year.
01:17:20 I think there's more of a runway with the Lakers.
01:17:23 I think the Suns is like more of a,
01:17:27 you know what happens in the NBA.
01:17:29 If they have another season this year,
01:17:31 like next year, like they did this season,
01:17:34 then it's like, does everybody wanna stay there?
01:17:36 Do guys wanna start moving?
01:17:38 Do you have to trade guys?
01:17:39 So you know you have this like very tiny window.
01:17:42 They don't have hardly any of their draft picks assets.
01:17:46 They don't have young players that they have coming up.
01:17:48 The Lakers have, I think, a longer runway.
01:17:51 They have, they could make a big trade this summer
01:17:53 and get like a real significant player.
01:17:56 AD still in his prime.
01:17:58 You know, Austin Reeves, there's more in place.
01:18:02 And if you get in a position in three years
01:18:05 where let's say LeBron retires in two, three years,
01:18:08 you can, if you create a max salary spot with the Lakers,
01:18:12 come on, you're getting somebody.
01:18:12 Right.
01:18:13 Guys are always gonna wanna play there.
01:18:14 You always can get 'em, yeah.
01:18:15 That's true, that's a good point.
01:18:16 So with LeBron, going back to 2010,
01:18:18 you and LeBron, your careers tied closely to LeBron's
01:18:21 in that respect.
01:18:23 Talk about what happened in 2010 with him
01:18:25 and what path that sent you on.
01:18:27 It changed my job.
01:18:29 It changed how you cover the NBA, like what an insider was.
01:18:33 I went to Yahoo in 2007.
01:18:36 I was a suburban newspaper columnist, Bergen Record
01:18:39 in New Jersey, home of Diana Rossini.
01:18:41 Good reporter.
01:18:42 She was the great reporter.
01:18:43 Great reporter.
01:18:44 She used to date the guy who used to cut my hair,
01:18:48 my kid's hair in town.
01:18:51 I remember him telling me, like,
01:18:52 I'm dating this reporter from Channel 2
01:18:55 or Channel 4 in New York City.
01:18:56 I'm like, wow.
01:18:59 And it turned out to be Rossini.
01:19:00 Yeah.
01:19:01 Turned out to be the great Diana Rossini.
01:19:02 She's an incredible reporter, yeah.
01:19:03 She is.
01:19:04 But I was just a suburban newspaper columnist.
01:19:08 I went to Yahoo.
01:19:09 Dan Wetzel, who you guys know, one of the greats.
01:19:12 Dan was at Yahoo and there was an NBA job open.
01:19:16 And I take that in '07.
01:19:21 But by 2010, Twitter's come along,
01:19:24 like where now people are, or maybe it was 10 or 11,
01:19:27 but now there's like sort of this instant scorecard
01:19:30 of breaking news.
01:19:31 But that free agency changed everything.
01:19:33 It changed how people covered the sport
01:19:36 and the attention there was on,
01:19:39 like, there had been Team USA.
01:19:40 Guys were talking about getting together.
01:19:42 And now, like, the off season,
01:19:44 it was almost like what college football,
01:19:45 college basketball is, right?
01:19:46 You had the sport and then you had recruiting.
01:19:48 And they're like two separate things.
01:19:50 And the deals and like the team building
01:19:52 became a huge part of it.
01:19:55 And LeBron made it okay for guys to say,
01:19:58 I'm gonna go play wherever I want,
01:19:59 with who I want to play with.
01:20:01 And that he took a lot of shit from a lot of people
01:20:05 about going to Miami,
01:20:07 winning with that group and building super teams.
01:20:11 And he made it like,
01:20:12 I don't know if Kevin Durant could have done
01:20:14 what he did with Golden State
01:20:15 if LeBron hadn't done it, right?
01:20:18 And so, but it changed the job
01:20:20 and it changed how you approached it.
01:20:23 And like, there's lots of different ways
01:20:24 to cover basketball.
01:20:25 Everybody has their strengths
01:20:27 and come at it from a different point of view.
01:20:29 That's why, like, you want to read it all,
01:20:31 you want to hear it all.
01:20:32 Like, everybody doesn't have to do it exactly the same.
01:20:34 Why would you want them to?
01:20:35 And I think it created,
01:20:37 but there was just like this unbelievable appetite
01:20:41 for information.
01:20:42 Unbelievable appetite.
01:20:43 'Cause every trade now was,
01:20:45 hey, that's clearing $12 million in cap space.
01:20:48 Now they've got a max slot
01:20:50 and they're going to trade this guy and this guy
01:20:51 and they're going to create two max slots.
01:20:52 And now what two guys are they going to get?
01:20:54 Like, and then that became a frenzy every year.
01:20:57 Then the next year you had, you know,
01:20:59 Chris Paul pushing his way out of New Orleans.
01:21:04 You had Carmelo Anthony pushing his way out of Denver.
01:21:06 And the owners were all shitting.
01:21:07 Like the small market owners were like,
01:21:11 we can't control in these small markets,
01:21:15 the ability to keep great players here.
01:21:18 They want to go to the major markets.
01:21:20 So now the league's kind of taken out of way
01:21:21 with this new salary cap.
01:21:22 They're going to force guys,
01:21:23 unless they want to take way less money,
01:21:25 they're going to force players to spread around the league.
01:21:27 - Yeah. Which it does feel like the super team is kind of,
01:21:30 not dying, but it feels like this playoffs, especially,
01:21:34 you have a lot more homegrown teams that are going for it.
01:21:36 - Yeah. Like you can have a super team,
01:21:38 but you better have drafted them.
01:21:41 Like Phoenix were two of your three great players
01:21:44 you've had to trade for.
01:21:45 When you do that, you've gassed all your picks,
01:21:48 all your young guys,
01:21:49 and you had this top heavy roster that doesn't work.
01:21:51 Where Denver, you know, Jokic, Michael Porter,
01:21:56 John Murray, they drafted all three.
01:21:58 They traded for Aaron Gordon.
01:22:01 They've never had to like do that four first round pick deal
01:22:05 that just takes all your young guys out.
01:22:08 Minnesota, they traded for one of the three, right?
01:22:10 - Right.
01:22:11 - And Boston drafted, right?
01:22:16 They drafted Tatum Brown.
01:22:18 And there's their third now.
01:22:19 - Yeah. I mean, Derek White, they were able to trade for.
01:22:21 But like even Porzingis was a traded for Marcus Smart.
01:22:24 - Yeah. Yeah.
01:22:25 But if you have two stars that you traded for,
01:22:27 and like the third guy is not like a transcendent,
01:22:29 they have like all star level guys.
01:22:32 That's how you have to do it.
01:22:33 If you have to just gas all your picks to do it,
01:22:36 you probably don't have a roster that's strong enough.
01:22:38 - Yeah. So with Porzingis, glad we brought him up.
01:22:41 - Oh yeah.
01:22:42 - You said that he is going to miss a minimum
01:22:43 of several games.
01:22:44 - We've extended past that.
01:22:46 - Oh, okay.
01:22:48 - So what's the maximum?
01:22:48 Maximum of several plus?
01:22:50 - Past the minimum, right?
01:22:51 - What is several games?
01:22:52 - We've brought this tweet up maybe every single episode
01:22:54 since you tweeted it.
01:22:56 'Cause what the hell does it mean?
01:22:58 - Several games is a vague cop-out.
01:23:00 - Yeah. And it's a minimum of several.
01:23:02 - It's a vague, it's a vague cop-out.
01:23:04 - I'm happy you admitted it.
01:23:06 - Is several three? Is it seven?
01:23:09 - Right.
01:23:10 - I'm not saying.
01:23:11 - And that's just the minimum.
01:23:11 We don't know what the maximum is.
01:23:14 - I think the hope is that he could be back potentially
01:23:16 in a conference final,
01:23:18 that it was going to come that this series was unlikely.
01:23:21 And now they're three-one.
01:23:23 Yeah, three-one.
01:23:25 And then maybe it buys them some time.
01:23:26 But, you know, those calf injuries are tricky.
01:23:30 Like they just, they're tricky.
01:23:32 So for everybody, the return isn't, it's not uniform.
01:23:37 It's hard to say it's going to be 10 days.
01:23:38 It's going to be two weeks.
01:23:39 But, you know, the sense was it was going to be this series
01:23:41 but it looks like they, especially with Donovan Mitchell
01:23:45 out last night, that was a huge blow for them.
01:23:47 That Boston's got enough probably to get past them.
01:23:49 - Have people been responding to your minimum
01:23:51 of several games?
01:23:52 'Cause I know, I mean, it was a very funny way to phrase it.
01:23:54 I hope you use it again.
01:23:55 It's just a great way to put a injury timetable
01:23:58 'cause there is no timetable.
01:24:00 We just know that he won't play the next game.
01:24:02 - Yeah.
01:24:03 - It's really all it is.
01:24:04 - And it's not day-to-day.
01:24:05 It's a minimum of several games.
01:24:07 Several's five.
01:24:08 (laughing)
01:24:08 - Oh, several's five.
01:24:09 - Several's five.
01:24:10 - No, it's four to seven.
01:24:11 - Four to seven.
01:24:12 - Okay.
01:24:13 - Five to eight.
01:24:14 - 'Cause yeah, eight feels like it would be a minimum
01:24:16 of a lot of games.
01:24:17 - More than several.
01:24:18 That's more than several.
01:24:18 That's several plus.
01:24:19 - Yeah, several plus.
01:24:20 I like that.
01:24:21 - Maybe next time if someone has--
01:24:22 - Complete cop-out.
01:24:23 - Yeah, if someone has like a month or two month injury,
01:24:24 just say a minimum of a lot of games.
01:24:27 That will be the way to phrase it.
01:24:28 - Can you say--
01:24:28 - Extended period's another one.
01:24:30 - Yeah.
01:24:30 - Let's extend it.
01:24:31 - Can you say week to week?
01:24:32 Does that work?
01:24:33 - I hate week to week.
01:24:34 - But day-to-day, that's one thing.
01:24:35 Week to week is several.
01:24:36 - You can say week to week.
01:24:38 Here's the one where you know it's,
01:24:40 they're going to reevaluate in two weeks, three weeks.
01:24:43 - Yeah.
01:24:44 - They reevaluate that thing every single day.
01:24:47 What do you think like, hey, next Thursday,
01:24:50 we're gonna bring them back into the doctor.
01:24:52 They're poring over these guys every day,
01:24:53 but what the teams know is,
01:24:55 if we say reevaluated in three weeks or four weeks,
01:24:58 it buys them time.
01:25:00 They don't have to answer the question every day.
01:25:01 - Right.
01:25:02 - Hey, how's Porzingis doing?
01:25:03 We're gonna reevaluate him next Friday.
01:25:04 - Yeah.
01:25:05 - We're gonna reevaluate him next hour,
01:25:06 and then three hours, then after lunch again.
01:25:09 - Yeah, we're not gonna answer the question
01:25:11 until next Friday.
01:25:11 - That's right, we're not gonna answer the question.
01:25:13 - So the LeBron 2010 year was huge for your career.
01:25:16 What was, besides LeBron, who's the one player
01:25:19 that like, if you didn't have them
01:25:21 and the way they treated you,
01:25:22 you wouldn't be where you are today?
01:25:24 - Kobe.
01:25:25 - Yeah?
01:25:25 - He gave me credibility covering the NBA.
01:25:27 - Just by answering your questions and talking to you?
01:25:29 - Just by talking to me.
01:25:30 - Wow.
01:25:31 - Yeah, he would give me a lot of access.
01:25:33 He was so, he understood however we hit it off,
01:25:38 but he also understood before a lot of people
01:25:40 covering the NBA, when I was covering the NBA,
01:25:43 how big of a reach Yahoo Sports had.
01:25:45 Like back then, and Yahoo's still significant,
01:25:47 and there's tremendous people there.
01:25:49 I had a great, I loved my time there.
01:25:51 People I worked with, Passon there,
01:25:52 obviously Wetzel, a lot of other guys.
01:25:55 But Kobe understood the reach of it.
01:25:58 Like back then, that was the homepage for like,
01:26:01 on the internet, you logged into the internet
01:26:03 and it was like, you got your mail there,
01:26:05 you saw the, you know, what the weather was gonna be,
01:26:08 if somebody looked at their stocks, it was all there.
01:26:09 Like that was sort of the, like everybody's homepage.
01:26:12 So if you got stories out on the front of that,
01:26:14 it was like a fire hose.
01:26:15 And so he got that, he got the reach of it,
01:26:18 but him talking to me, him giving me access,
01:26:21 him, you know, he would sometimes say
01:26:23 when he wanted to get something off his chest,
01:26:26 it would always be like a cold Midwestern city in the winter.
01:26:29 Can you get to Minneapolis?
01:26:31 Can you meet me in Indianapolis?
01:26:33 It was always like a place they might be in for a day.
01:26:35 Plus it was never meet me in Miami.
01:26:38 Sometimes it was LA.
01:26:39 And then, and so it gave me tremendous,
01:26:44 it just made, it expedited things for me.
01:26:48 I think people saw, well, if he's talking to him,
01:26:50 it gave me credibility with players, with everybody,
01:26:55 agents, and so that was, he was huge for my career.
01:27:02 - Was it anything besides Yahoo?
01:27:03 Like, did you, was it like, he just kind of liked you?
01:27:06 Because it does feel like we always talk about it.
01:27:08 - I think he understood the platform, but we, you know,
01:27:11 he liked someone who was competitive and, you know,
01:27:16 he liked that I was competitive in my job.
01:27:18 He always wanted to talk about it.
01:27:20 He always wanted to talk about competing,
01:27:22 how you do things, and he loved that part of it.
01:27:27 He understood like so much about my job,
01:27:32 his world.
01:27:33 I remember this, I remember talking,
01:27:35 I would always try to talk him out of getting on Twitter.
01:27:38 And I said, "Coby, Twitter's for small talk.
01:27:41 You don't do small talk.
01:27:42 You do big proclamations."
01:27:44 'Cause I knew the minute he got on Twitter,
01:27:47 he didn't need to talk to me all the time.
01:27:48 - Ah, smart, yeah.
01:27:50 - Yeah, it's like what he did at the Olympics.
01:27:52 He would go, you know, he'd spend,
01:27:55 when he was older, like 2012,
01:27:59 he was on the team with Westbrook,
01:28:01 Durant, I don't know if Durant was there.
01:28:02 Westbrook was there.
01:28:03 I'm trying to remember if Durant was at the Olympics.
01:28:05 I don't know if he was.
01:28:06 2012, he would spend the entire time
01:28:11 like telling Russ, guys would tell me,
01:28:14 why are you letting KD win scoring titles?
01:28:18 You should be winning scoring titles.
01:28:20 And like, if he could just send Russ back to Oklahoma City
01:28:24 with that thought in his mind,
01:28:26 if it would just throw OKC off just a little bit.
01:28:29 - Yeah, a little bit.
01:28:30 - But they were at the point where the Lakers were now,
01:28:33 they were passing them.
01:28:34 But everywhere he was, he had a,
01:28:38 he looked at how he could take a situation
01:28:44 and manipulate it to his--
01:28:47 - And compete.
01:28:48 - Yeah, compete, like get an edge.
01:28:49 - So you mentioned it, I'd have to imagine
01:28:52 like all the players having podcasts,
01:28:53 that kind of sucks for your job now.
01:28:55 'Cause they're just reporting their own news.
01:28:58 - I don't know if a lot of guys are, Pat Bev is.
01:29:00 - Yeah.
01:29:00 - Pat Bev is reporting their news.
01:29:01 - You've had to credit his podcast.
01:29:02 Do you subscribe?
01:29:03 - I do subscribe.
01:29:04 I'm scared not to.
01:29:05 - We were gonna have to end this whole interview.
01:29:07 - I'll tell you, I texted him.
01:29:08 So he, where, I was texting with him yesterday.
01:29:13 I just hit him on something.
01:29:15 And I saw the text sitting there and I was laughing.
01:29:17 So this was March 28th.
01:29:21 So let's see, he got waved.
01:29:23 Why was he, was he, was he, oh no, it was the injury.
01:29:26 - Yeah.
01:29:27 - It was the injury.
01:29:28 - Yeah, his wrist.
01:29:28 - Oh, here it was, yeah.
01:29:29 I said, here you go.
01:29:30 Hey Pat, how did it go yesterday?
01:29:32 Any sense yet on next steps?
01:29:34 He goes, I will break my own news.
01:29:36 Thanks, don't worry.
01:29:37 (laughing)
01:29:38 I said, well, I'll be watching for it.
01:29:40 (laughing)
01:29:41 I love him, I love Pat.
01:29:42 I did one of my favorite podcasts ever
01:29:44 in the city of Chicago.
01:29:46 He was probably on, he's probably been on my pod maybe
01:29:51 in the past maybe three or four times, different place.
01:29:54 But we were in Chicago and he said, we were gonna do it.
01:29:56 It was one of the off seasons.
01:29:58 And he got a deal on a boat.
01:30:00 It was over in the, I don't know what the harbor is.
01:30:03 - Yeah.
01:30:04 - And so he was like, if you just say the name,
01:30:08 just when you introduce me, you gotta say
01:30:10 what boat we are on, what company.
01:30:13 'Cause he was gonna get, I think it was something like
01:30:14 he was gonna get like a free five hours
01:30:16 to go around the harbor.
01:30:18 And so we're like, the sun's beating down.
01:30:20 It's like the middle of the day, it was fine.
01:30:22 So we're out there, the audio,
01:30:23 imagine the audio sitting out on the deck of a boat.
01:30:25 It's not great.
01:30:27 And the sun's beating down on us
01:30:29 and we're sitting on the deck of this.
01:30:31 It's not a yacht, it was just, it was a boat.
01:30:34 And we do the podcast out there and it was like,
01:30:36 all I could think of was that honorage
01:30:38 where they were like Rufus from,
01:30:40 remember Rufus from Home Solutions?
01:30:43 - Yeah.
01:30:44 - And Johnny Drama had the hat on, sitting on the couch.
01:30:46 I was like, whatever the name of the boat was,
01:30:48 but I left town, he went out and had like a whole day
01:30:51 on the, I think he got it for free.
01:30:54 I had to say the name of the boat.
01:30:55 - He's like, I'm telling you,
01:30:56 what was he gonna say to your company?
01:30:58 I'm gonna go to millions of people.
01:30:58 - I got this.
01:30:59 - He wants to go to millions of people,
01:31:01 but it went to somebody.
01:31:02 - So we got to talk about the James Harden situation
01:31:05 where you broke the James Harden news.
01:31:07 You were gonna get on a plane
01:31:08 and what time was your flight?
01:31:10 - So I usually make my flights,
01:31:14 like I fly a lot Newark to LA.
01:31:17 I try to do it, there's a 7.30 PM, there's an 8.30.
01:31:20 I leave as late as I can.
01:31:24 So I'm in the air for the least amount of time
01:31:26 that shit could happen, news can happen.
01:31:29 And when I fly back,
01:31:30 I either fly back on a 9.00 PM Pacific flight.
01:31:32 So that's midnight Eastern or the 11 o'clock.
01:31:34 So I know like in that range, it's pretty rare.
01:31:37 Middle of the night, something's gonna break,
01:31:38 but I don't wanna be on a plane in the middle of the day
01:31:40 where like sometimes wireless works, sometimes it doesn't.
01:31:43 But whatever the time was,
01:31:45 I wanna say maybe it was a 6.30.
01:31:47 It was a 6.30 or 7.30 flight.
01:31:49 'Cause I remember I got to the airport
01:31:50 around like just about an hour before my flight
01:31:53 and I got a sense from the teams
01:31:56 that like this trade could happen tonight.
01:31:59 And I said to one of them, "I've got a flight, leaves it."
01:32:04 I don't think it was 6.30 or 7.
01:32:05 Maybe it was 7.30.
01:32:06 "Should I get on that flight?"
01:32:07 They're like, "I wouldn't get on that flight."
01:32:08 Like we can, I'm like, "Okay."
01:32:10 So I just go up to the, you know,
01:32:13 you got that United Lounge.
01:32:14 - Yeah. - Set up in there.
01:32:15 And I'm like, I know I'm just not taking a flight.
01:32:19 And so I'm gonna sit here and wait
01:32:21 until this thing goes down, if it's gonna go down.
01:32:24 And then at like 10.30,
01:32:25 the United Lounge is closed, get out of here.
01:32:27 - Yeah. - Right, get out.
01:32:29 So then I go down into the, I go down the escalator
01:32:31 and then there's like just the open seating, right?
01:32:34 So now it's like 11, 12, 1.
01:32:37 So I texted my wife at some point, I'm like,
01:32:39 "Hey, I'm probably coming back home tonight,
01:32:42 like 6 a.m., whatever, we'll figure it out."
01:32:45 But I'll just like, "Whatever."
01:32:46 - Like Tom Hanks, whatever.
01:32:47 - I don't care. - Probably like, yeah.
01:32:49 So anyway, so then it's, but then I realized,
01:32:52 I got to a point where I saw like my flight landed in LA
01:32:55 and the trade salon happened.
01:32:56 I was like, "Son of a bitch, I could have been on it."
01:32:58 And then it's like, now you get to,
01:33:01 I got to center like, "Hey, listen,
01:33:02 it's probably gonna be around."
01:33:03 They're waiting for somebody to get in.
01:33:07 Finally it was like, "This is gonna be like around 2 a.m.
01:33:10 you're gonna be able to put this out."
01:33:12 And so now like the Zamboni machines
01:33:14 like running through the airport, right?
01:33:16 The big machine that's cleaning the thing.
01:33:18 So it's just me and that guy going up and down.
01:33:21 And then like some guys got off some late flights
01:33:23 and they're sort of looking at me like,
01:33:26 and he sort of recognized me, he's like,
01:33:27 "What is this guy sitting in an empty?"
01:33:29 A couple of guys, like, "What is he doing here?
01:33:31 I'm just here."
01:33:32 And so finally 2 a.m. that thing got done.
01:33:35 And then by the time I got, it was like 3.30 a.m.
01:33:38 I packed up, took a Uber back home 30 minutes
01:33:42 and then came back and flew the next day.
01:33:44 - You still got it.
01:33:44 That must've been like, "I can still do this,
01:33:48 all hours of the night."
01:33:49 - I try to stay awake.
01:33:50 - Yeah, right.
01:33:50 - If you ever see Woj just sitting by himself somewhere,
01:33:52 you know that some shit's about to go down.
01:33:53 - Someone's about to get traded.
01:33:54 - Yeah, something's happening.
01:33:55 - Yeah, that's 100% gonna happen.
01:33:58 I mean, that just shows, I mean, you guys,
01:34:01 how many hours a night do you sleep?
01:34:03 - You know, like this idea that,
01:34:06 like, listen, during free agency or trade deadline,
01:34:09 it's minimal.
01:34:11 The rest of the year, this idea that you can't sleep
01:34:13 as an insider, it's like, it's bullshit.
01:34:15 - Okay.
01:34:16 - It's just, it's like, there's a lot of,
01:34:19 I think some people wanna create a lot of mythology
01:34:21 around this thing.
01:34:22 There's a lot of demanding jobs.
01:34:23 Around that time, right, you know what they are.
01:34:28 Free agency, trade deadline.
01:34:30 - Draft.
01:34:32 - Draft, the two nights thing is brutal now.
01:34:35 Because now you get up, like, usually you could,
01:34:37 the draft ends, you know, it's five, six hours
01:34:41 on that podium, and if you have to go to the bathroom,
01:34:43 you can't leave that podium, like, during it.
01:34:45 And so, it does cut down that.
01:34:48 - Yeah.
01:34:49 - As I get older, 'cause I gotta go at some point.
01:34:51 But the idea, though, that as soon as that thing's over
01:34:54 at pick 30, teams are gonna start making trades
01:34:57 for the next day, like, you're gonna be up that, like.
01:34:59 - That sucks.
01:35:00 - I'm whining about it, but like.
01:35:01 - Yeah.
01:35:02 - But I get why we wanna do the two days.
01:35:03 And listen, if Bronny is.
01:35:05 - Yeah.
01:35:06 - Like, I wonder if the league will send a memo out
01:35:09 and say, hey, like, we need him for the second night.
01:35:11 - Yeah.
01:35:11 - Don't be taking him.
01:35:12 - Yeah.
01:35:13 - 30, right, but who knows when he could get picked.
01:35:15 And so, I do think having Bronny in this,
01:35:18 probably, if he makes it to the second night,
01:35:20 is, I mean, that'll be the story, right?
01:35:22 - Yeah.
01:35:23 - Do you think that there is gonna be a team
01:35:24 that takes a chance on Bronny, just in the hopes
01:35:26 that maybe LeBron will come play for this team later?
01:35:29 - I don't think it's gonna be to get LeBron.
01:35:34 I think it'll be because they see some value in him.
01:35:37 I don't think, you know, Rich Paul has said this to me
01:35:41 since March, maybe February, March,
01:35:44 and he said on the record, like,
01:35:45 this isn't about pairing them up.
01:35:47 They wanna find the best place for Bronny,
01:35:49 place that's focused on development,
01:35:51 that has a good track record, is a young player.
01:35:54 The Lakers are not really a developmental, like, program.
01:35:56 They're a win-now team, right?
01:35:58 And so their thing was, if it lines up,
01:36:00 it's organic and it happens, great,
01:36:02 but the mission isn't to get them together.
01:36:05 And like, you know, if LeBron goes to, you know,
01:36:08 or if Bronny goes to, I don't know, name the city,
01:36:11 Toronto, Charlotte, Indiana.
01:36:14 - Philadelphia.
01:36:15 - Yeah, like, you know, is it a team that, like,
01:36:17 could even, they'd have to force a trade, right?
01:36:20 Because free agency's not gonna work.
01:36:21 They're not gonna have cap space.
01:36:22 He's a 50, $60 million a year player.
01:36:25 I don't think it's about that, but I think,
01:36:28 I saw Bronny play last year in person in Portland
01:36:30 at that Nike Hoops Summit.
01:36:32 He looked, he was a real, he's a real prospect.
01:36:34 He was.
01:36:35 Now, he's not a superstar, he's a role player,
01:36:37 but like, he does a lot of things really well.
01:36:38 He's smart, he really guards, like, great court sense.
01:36:42 How you would imagine LeBron's son to be?
01:36:44 Just incredible basketball IQ, you know, athletic enough.
01:36:49 You know, he really shot the ball well yesterday.
01:36:52 Like, it's not a stretch to imagine him in the NBA.
01:36:56 Do I think he's an NBA star?
01:36:57 No, but there are a lot of role players
01:37:00 who look exactly the same as Bronny James at that age,
01:37:03 but he has the heart issue.
01:37:05 He misses five months of playing,
01:37:06 and so then he's limited in the production at USC.
01:37:09 But if anybody took five months off,
01:37:11 and I'm sure there's a mental hurdle in returning from that,
01:37:14 but he looked great yesterday.
01:37:16 And, you know, like, I don't think, though,
01:37:20 selecting him or signing him is,
01:37:25 people think it's a ticket to LeBron.
01:37:27 I don't feel that.
01:37:28 - Yeah, all right, I got the hardest question for you
01:37:30 in this entire interview.
01:37:32 Do you know the name Rico Bosco?
01:37:35 - I know the name Rico Bosco.
01:37:36 - Okay, I wanna hear your perspective of this,
01:37:38 because Rico's crazy.
01:37:40 I love him, but he's crazy.
01:37:42 For people who don't know,
01:37:43 Rico had a 12-year grudge against Woj.
01:37:47 - Felt like 112 years.
01:37:49 - Yeah, and you're like, wow, 12 years?
01:37:51 Woj must have done something really bad.
01:37:53 Well, not really.
01:37:54 Woj DM'd Rico back in 2011
01:37:59 when Rico was saying that Danny Hurley
01:38:02 was the next up coach,
01:38:03 and all these other schools should try to hire him.
01:38:06 Woj sent him a DM saying, "I know him pretty well.
01:38:09 "He isn't leaving the state of New Jersey.
01:38:10 "I promise you, he stayed in high school for nine years,
01:38:13 "turned down a lot of jobs, I'm right."
01:38:16 Obviously, Danny Hurley left the state of New Jersey.
01:38:18 - I'm an absolute way to prove it.
01:38:19 - I'm right as fuck.
01:38:19 - Here's what I care about.
01:38:20 I thought it was leaving Wagner to go to URI, wasn't it?
01:38:25 - No, well, here's what's interesting about--
01:38:27 - I think it because he lived in New Jersey
01:38:29 when he coached at Wagner.
01:38:30 Initially, I didn't think he was gonna take URI,
01:38:32 but then they offered--
01:38:33 - But here's what's interesting about it.
01:38:35 We have the screenshot from Woj.
01:38:36 We don't have the screenshot of what Rico sent you--
01:38:39 - I don't remember.
01:38:40 - To elicit that response.
01:38:41 - True, so--
01:38:42 - And that's interesting.
01:38:43 - Were you aware that he was just tweeting about it?
01:38:46 'Cause the other part--
01:38:47 - I don't remember the circumstances around it.
01:38:50 I saw my screenshot for, like I said, 112 years being posted.
01:38:55 - Yeah, worse and worse.
01:38:56 Like the quality of the--
01:38:57 - Yeah, it was just so, but you're right.
01:38:59 He was at Wagner.
01:39:00 He was living in New Jersey.
01:39:02 - It was Wagner to URI.
01:39:03 'Cause I remember at the time
01:39:04 when I had conversations with Danny,
01:39:06 I'm like, "You can make,
01:39:07 "I think you can jump to the Big East from Wagner."
01:39:10 With what he was doing there.
01:39:11 I didn't think he had to go to URI,
01:39:13 but I was wrong, he took it.
01:39:14 We were talking about it.
01:39:15 I remember talking about it with him then.
01:39:17 I'm like, "I don't think you have to take an Atlantic 10 job.
01:39:19 "Now also, I wanna keep him out of the fucking Atlantic 10."
01:39:21 - Yeah, 'cause you're safe on his side.
01:39:22 - So there was some agenda there.
01:39:23 - Yeah, so--
01:39:23 - There was some agenda there.
01:39:24 - So this is also, this was a private DM
01:39:28 that Rico has now made it, he was like,
01:39:30 for the longest time, he's like,
01:39:31 "Woj won't apologize to me."
01:39:33 I was like, "But it was a private message."
01:39:35 And I actually, a few months ago, we asked him,
01:39:38 I was like, "If Woj had apologized privately,
01:39:40 "would you have accepted it?"
01:39:41 He said, "No," because then he would still
01:39:43 have to carry the embarrassment
01:39:46 of having a private apology for something Rico made public.
01:39:49 At any point in the last 12 years,
01:39:53 you're like, "What is this guy doing?
01:39:55 "What is he talking about?"
01:39:57 - I knew what he was talking about, but yeah.
01:40:00 I'll do it here.
01:40:01 I apologize that Danny Hurley left Wagner.
01:40:03 - Oh, I like how you phrased that.
01:40:05 - And he didn't stay in a Northeast conference.
01:40:07 - I like that.
01:40:08 - Where he would have dominated.
01:40:09 He might've won a national championship at Wagner.
01:40:11 - Yeah. - He's very smart.
01:40:12 - You're not apologizing to Rico Bosco,
01:40:14 you're apologizing that Danny Hurley left.
01:40:16 - He got a lot of mileage out of that bit.
01:40:18 - Oh, I mean.
01:40:19 - Yeah.
01:40:19 - And I respect it. - By the way, it was not a bit.
01:40:21 He's crazy like that.
01:40:22 - He came up, he saw me at--
01:40:25 - Yeah, we made him.
01:40:25 I made him go.
01:40:26 'Cause he was like, "Woj just said he was gonna go."
01:40:28 - My wife is sitting next to me.
01:40:29 So I've known Dusty May for,
01:40:31 when I did a book on the Hurleys,
01:40:33 I did this "Miracle of St. Anthony" 20 years ago,
01:40:36 20 years ago this year.
01:40:38 And Dusty was a young assistant at Indiana,
01:40:40 and he came to recruit St. Anthony's.
01:40:43 And I got to know him and known him since.
01:40:44 So we were at the Garden to go see them
01:40:46 in the Tennessee game, Sweet 16.
01:40:49 And so my wife and I were sitting,
01:40:52 I don't know, just court side and his family was there.
01:40:55 And she doesn't know anything about this thing.
01:40:57 Like she's not--
01:40:58 - Which is good, healthy, that's healthy.
01:40:59 - Yeah, she doesn't.
01:41:01 She barely even knows what I do for a living.
01:41:04 Just live at, hang out at airports.
01:41:06 And so he came up and,
01:41:09 I don't remember what he said, like, "Hey."
01:41:12 And she was sitting there--
01:41:12 - I'm the guy.
01:41:13 - Yeah, yeah.
01:41:14 And she was like half listening.
01:41:16 'Cause sometimes people come up
01:41:17 and wanna introduce themselves.
01:41:18 And he went away, she was like, "What was that?"
01:41:21 I go, "I don't know."
01:41:22 (laughing)
01:41:23 - It's a hard one to explain.
01:41:24 - Like, you know, like search my name
01:41:26 in 11 seconds on Twitter.
01:41:28 You'll probably see what I'm like.
01:41:29 - Yes, yes.
01:41:30 It was, I mean, Rico is, he's a special brain,
01:41:34 but that was one of those ones where it's like,
01:41:37 he made a grudge out of seemingly nothing,
01:41:40 but he was very mad at you for a long time.
01:41:42 - Is Rico Bosco, is that a play on Rico Bronya?
01:41:46 No. - No, I don't think so.
01:41:47 - I think it was--
01:41:48 - Rico Bronya was like, when I worked in Waterbury,
01:41:50 he was like in a play for the Mets, he was a--
01:41:52 - Yeah, no, I--
01:41:53 - He was like one of the first guys I ever got a,
01:41:55 so I was wondering if he was like a--
01:41:56 - I think he just, he tried to sound really Italian.
01:41:59 - Yeah, he also, Rico, just so you know,
01:42:01 and I think you probably can maybe contend this,
01:42:03 but he claims that he has the most powerful phone
01:42:06 in the Northeast, Rico does.
01:42:08 - I believe it.
01:42:09 - Oh, okay, all right, so you're giving him that.
01:42:11 - It's like a terrorist organization.
01:42:14 - Oh, it is, no, it is.
01:42:15 - Don't say that, don't say that.
01:42:16 - They are, I've seen the picture.
01:42:17 - Don't say that.
01:42:18 - I've seen the pictures.
01:42:19 - Oh, yeah, well, there was a picture of him
01:42:21 in the Middle East, in fact.
01:42:22 - No, no, no.
01:42:24 Terror takes many forms.
01:42:25 - Yeah, that's true.
01:42:26 - It's not middle, I didn't suggest
01:42:28 it was any part of the world.
01:42:29 - Yeah, that's good that you apologized
01:42:31 to Danny Hurley, though.
01:42:32 I feel like we're in a good spot in this whole saga.
01:42:36 - He's good, good, good, good.
01:42:38 - He makes a mountain out of a molehill,
01:42:40 it's quite something.
01:42:41 - I had a question for you about just the stress
01:42:43 of traveling, and I know for our job,
01:42:45 when we're traveling anywhere, if I'm going on vacation,
01:42:47 but maybe we have to do a show or something,
01:42:48 I'm always stressed out about if it's an Airbnb,
01:42:51 is the Wi-Fi, it says it's got really fast Wi-Fi,
01:42:54 is that always gonna be the case when you're on a plane?
01:42:56 Do you have to make yourself at those times a year
01:43:00 where it's the trade deadline, draft, things like that,
01:43:04 if it's a busy time of year where something might happen,
01:43:05 do you have to plan in advance based on where you're going,
01:43:09 how good that Wi-Fi is?
01:43:11 - I would say those times of the year,
01:43:12 I'm almost always in studio.
01:43:14 Like I'm almost always either in studio in Bristol or LA.
01:43:18 I'm not like in some remote location.
01:43:21 You're gonna be like those times.
01:43:23 But, I mean, I can't tell you how many times
01:43:28 I've made my family sit on the side,
01:43:30 pull over the car, sit up,
01:43:32 especially when the kids were younger
01:43:33 and you were driving everybody somewhere, pull over.
01:43:36 I remember the worst one was Christmas Eve.
01:43:38 It was Christmas Eve, we were going into church,
01:43:40 our kids were really young.
01:43:42 And I got a trade as we were walking in,
01:43:46 like we're walking up the steps
01:43:47 and all of a sudden I'm at the bottom of the steps
01:43:50 with I think my wife says,
01:43:51 I can still see her with the two kids holding their hands
01:43:54 and just standing like going into the church,
01:43:56 just shaking her head like, you asshole, you asshole.
01:44:00 - This is a life you married into.
01:44:01 - And it was like a King's Grizzlies trade.
01:44:04 I might've been like, can't remember who it was.
01:44:06 It was like 2007, 2008, it was early.
01:44:10 And I'm like, just one minute, I'll get this.
01:44:12 This is a look of just absolute disdain.
01:44:16 Do you have any, like, is there a low?
01:44:20 Is there a low in your world?
01:44:22 - A King's Grizzlies trade?
01:44:24 - There have to be some trades that you're like,
01:44:26 I'm going into church, it's the King's Grizzlies.
01:44:28 That's not worth my time.
01:44:30 - You don't throw any back.
01:44:31 - You don't throw any back.
01:44:32 - Especially then, like then it was like,
01:44:34 that was very early.
01:44:35 It was still a big deal to,
01:44:36 I mean, it's always a big deal to break a trade.
01:44:39 I mean, there's only like, I'd say this.
01:44:42 I always think Adam's job is much more taxing.
01:44:47 The NFL insider to me is a much more taxing job to me
01:44:51 for no other reason than the quarterback position, right?
01:44:55 People care about all 30 teams, all 30 quarterbacks.
01:44:57 Is he playing?
01:44:58 Is that guy getting moved out?
01:45:01 Who's the starter?
01:45:01 Who's starting this week?
01:45:02 Is he going to be ready Sunday?
01:45:04 And for all 30 teams, and to me, that position,
01:45:08 and then free agency trades, like to me,
01:45:11 just that position alone makes, or 32 teams, right?
01:45:13 Makes it, makes the job way harder.
01:45:16 I went up to, I always love going up to Bristol
01:45:18 when Schefter's doing free agency or trade deadline.
01:45:21 And if I can go up there for the day, I did it this year.
01:45:24 I guess it was free agency.
01:45:26 It was being in a free agency.
01:45:28 And I just sit there.
01:45:29 It's like watching like a lion in the wild.
01:45:33 - Right.
01:45:34 - Like just sit and watch him.
01:45:35 I go get him water.
01:45:36 I got him some, I went to the cafe, got him some gum,
01:45:38 you know, drove him back to the hotel later, you know.
01:45:41 - I like that, watching Adam Schefter on-
01:45:43 - It just, you know, and then it's like PTSD,
01:45:45 but you just watching him go through it,
01:45:47 but he is, he's the best.
01:45:49 - Yeah. - He's the best ever.
01:45:50 - So I guess we could ask this way.
01:45:52 Could an NBA newsbreaker translate better to the NFL
01:45:57 or an NFL newsbreaker translate better to the NBA world?
01:46:02 - I think in any, I think like a good reporter,
01:46:05 you could parachute them in anywhere.
01:46:08 Like school board, covering city hall cops, NFL, NBA.
01:46:13 Like if you can report, you can report.
01:46:17 And you, if you give them time to build relationships,
01:46:20 figure it out, I think you could put somebody
01:46:23 who's a pretty good reporter anywhere.
01:46:25 So yes, now you're starting at zero and it takes,
01:46:28 I mean, I've been doing this for, you know,
01:46:31 you build these relationships over a very long time.
01:46:34 Like when I started as an NBA insider,
01:46:37 like the guys who were low level executives
01:46:40 who were just barely in the front office
01:46:42 or low level agents or G-league coaches.
01:46:45 Like when I started, like Nick Nurse
01:46:48 was a G-league coach I knew, you know,
01:46:52 becomes a championship coach and front office guy.
01:46:54 Sam Presti was the assistant GM with the Spurs.
01:46:57 And then, and so you have the years of those relationships
01:47:01 and then the people around them that you get to know.
01:47:03 And so, but it takes a long time.
01:47:05 Like you just couldn't do it overnight.
01:47:06 - Yeah, so is it always going to be basketball for you
01:47:08 or are there other interests that you'd like to get into
01:47:10 further in your career?
01:47:12 - Further in my career?
01:47:13 - Well, like election night,
01:47:15 are you going to tweet who won the election?
01:47:17 Because it's not going to be real until Wojt announces it.
01:47:19 - I don't think so.
01:47:20 - Okay.
01:47:21 - No.
01:47:22 - Would you have reported a guy getting waived
01:47:25 on Christmas Eve?
01:47:26 I'm trying to find it.
01:47:27 I want to find this.
01:47:28 - If, okay, I would say now teams are much more reluctant
01:47:32 to do that shit on Christmas Eve
01:47:34 because they know the response.
01:47:36 But before social media, I bet it happened a lot more.
01:47:38 I remember Scott Skiles got fired on Christmas Eve,
01:47:41 didn't he? - Yeah.
01:47:41 - The Bulls? - Yeah, so wait,
01:47:43 but I'm trying to find-- - Did you find one?
01:47:44 Did you find one?
01:47:44 - I found Hamed Haddadi was signed from the Dakota Wizards
01:47:49 on December 24th, 2008.
01:47:51 I hope it wasn't that one
01:47:53 that you're talking that story about.
01:47:55 And then there was Marco Jaric got waived
01:47:58 on December 24th, 2009 from the Grizzlies.
01:48:02 I looked through all Kings and Grizzlies transactions.
01:48:04 - I may be wrong about the technologies.
01:48:06 I may be wrong about the teams.
01:48:08 - I wish it was like a Marco Jaric getting waived.
01:48:10 - It was Christmas Eve.
01:48:11 I don't like, all right, we've got to,
01:48:14 I know the-- - I want to find out
01:48:15 his ad business. - I know the agent
01:48:17 who at the time told me, "My guy just got traded
01:48:20 "and I just saw him."
01:48:21 And I'm gonna ask, 'cause I'm not remembering who was in it,
01:48:23 but when we leave, I'm gonna text you.
01:48:25 Who did you text me that day?
01:48:26 'Cause I remember who told me it.
01:48:28 And I just saw him, so it was Christmas Eve.
01:48:32 I was walking, I can still see my wife
01:48:33 at the top of those stairs, like, death glare.
01:48:36 - Yeah, all right, so you're here for the draft.
01:48:40 This is a weird draft because it feels like
01:48:42 everyone's like, "This draft stinks."
01:48:44 You hear people say it's like if a regular draft
01:48:46 started at five or six.
01:48:48 The Hawks win it with the 3%, so Hawks,
01:48:51 and like the city of Atlanta's sports,
01:48:54 just whatever happens in Atlanta,
01:48:56 it's always kind of like, "Oh man, that was a bummer."
01:48:58 But to win the number one pick here,
01:49:01 does that give them any flexibility going forward?
01:49:03 I know they want to probably maybe trade Trey Young,
01:49:06 but is this something that teams are even interested in?
01:49:10 - Well, if you're the Hawks,
01:49:12 especially because you've traded away the picks
01:49:14 like in the DeJounte Murray deal,
01:49:16 where you don't have your pick next year.
01:49:17 So they're sitting there expecting to pick at 10.
01:49:21 And now we're at one, and now we control the draft.
01:49:25 So I mean, I think it's huge for them,
01:49:29 but they've got to figure out who that guy is.
01:49:31 There's going to be a star in this draft.
01:49:32 There might be multiple stars.
01:49:34 But the day of the draft, I said, it reminds me of 2013,
01:49:38 which was Anthony Bennett went one,
01:49:40 and Cleveland was on the clock until,
01:49:42 if the draft started at 7.30,
01:49:45 they hadn't decided until 7.20.
01:49:48 They were still trying to trade the pick.
01:49:49 It was chaos.
01:49:51 And they missed the pick.
01:49:51 I mean, Bennett, but Giannis goes 15th.
01:49:54 Rudy Gobert goes 27th.
01:49:56 There'll probably be somebody in the team
01:49:59 who ends up being an All-NBA player.
01:50:00 It's your job to figure out who it is.
01:50:02 I have a hard time seeing people
01:50:04 moving up to one in this draft,
01:50:05 because I think maybe if it's a team at two or three
01:50:10 that wants a guy, and then they just trade down one,
01:50:13 like Ainge did with Philly.
01:50:16 They didn't want Markel.
01:50:17 They knew Philly wanted Markel Fultz.
01:50:19 And they said, hey, we want Jason Tatum at three.
01:50:21 So not only do they move down and get Tatum,
01:50:23 they get another pick from them.
01:50:24 - Right.
01:50:25 - I'm starting to think that trade
01:50:26 is not going to work out for the second half.
01:50:27 - No, I don't think so.
01:50:28 You said before we started
01:50:30 that you had a good Danny Ainge trading story.
01:50:33 So they were getting ready to trade Rajon Rondo to Dallas.
01:50:38 I don't remember the year.
01:50:42 And I texted Danny, hey, I'm hearing from people.
01:50:46 I'm getting the sense that you're really starting
01:50:49 to look to move.
01:50:50 Rajon, give me a call.
01:50:52 I want to catch up with you about it.
01:50:54 And no response, 15, 20 minutes, half an hour.
01:50:58 I get a text and it says, Donnie.
01:51:03 And it is a text with the terms of a Celtic Dallas trade,
01:51:08 possible names that it picks.
01:51:14 And I'm looking at this going, holy shit.
01:51:16 Like he sent me the wrong, he sent a text for Donnie Nelson,
01:51:21 the Dallas gym, he sent it to me by accident.
01:51:24 - Whoa.
01:51:25 - With like their back and forth on the trade.
01:51:29 And so, and didn't realize.
01:51:30 And then like, I'm sitting there
01:51:31 kind of looking at it going,
01:51:33 I don't think this was meant for me.
01:51:35 So I just text him back, you owe me one.
01:51:37 And then my phone rings and he is laughing hysterically.
01:51:42 And I said, just don't let me get beat on this
01:51:44 whenever it gets done.
01:51:45 - Yeah.
01:51:46 And you didn't, he gave it to you?
01:51:48 - I remember he gave it to,
01:51:49 I just remember I didn't get beat on it.
01:51:50 - That's incredible.
01:51:51 - But I realized it was meant for Donnie Nelson.
01:51:56 - That's nuts.
01:51:58 - Had all the terms in it.
01:51:59 - Is there any trade that you look back on
01:52:02 and that maybe one that you didn't get,
01:52:04 where you're like, I should have had that one.
01:52:06 Is there one that eats you up inside?
01:52:08 - They all, I never feel like one,
01:52:10 like you think about one's, listen,
01:52:13 you wanna break everything, you can't break everything.
01:52:16 I do remember the costliest trade I ever broke,
01:52:18 which was 2012 Olympics in England.
01:52:22 Like back then when I was at Yahoo,
01:52:25 the idea of being overseas for free,
01:52:29 I don't remember, yeah, it was July.
01:52:31 Free agency I guess was over,
01:52:33 but we're covering the Olympics.
01:52:35 The Dwight Howard trade was happening,
01:52:37 it was a four team trade.
01:52:38 I remember being in the lobby of this English hotel
01:52:41 in London, like three,
01:52:42 I wanna say it was like 3.15, 3.30 in the morning
01:52:45 when I felt like I got it and it was four teams.
01:52:47 And back then, like I didn't really know
01:52:52 how to handle a calling plan for overseas,
01:52:56 like on your cell phone, it wasn't unlimited.
01:52:59 And they were always pretty liberal
01:53:01 with the budget at Yahoo,
01:53:03 like you always felt like you could put in for stuff,
01:53:05 but I was gonna test this thing.
01:53:07 So I get my phone bill at the end of the Olympics,
01:53:09 it's $12,000.
01:53:10 - Oh, Jesus.
01:53:11 - $12,000 phone bill.
01:53:13 - Oh my God.
01:53:14 - And I'm like, all right, you can get,
01:53:16 I'm like, this is really gonna test the limits of,
01:53:19 and I put in for, as I called my editor
01:53:22 when I got back, Dave Moore,
01:53:23 I go, hey Dave, this is,
01:53:25 felt really good about the Olympics,
01:53:26 we got that trade, we got some really good stuff.
01:53:30 - Good news first.
01:53:31 - But the phone bill's $12,000.
01:53:34 He's like, oh man.
01:53:36 But he got, they paid it, they paid it.
01:53:38 - That's incredible.
01:53:39 - Try that at ESPN now.
01:53:41 - It wasn't so easy where you just land somewhere
01:53:42 and your phone tells you like,
01:53:43 welcome to Canada, welcome to England.
01:53:45 You have, here's how you text.
01:53:46 - And I knew, you know what,
01:53:47 there was a point where I knew I was over like,
01:53:49 whatever it was, 100 minutes, 200,
01:53:50 like I knew I had gone through it.
01:53:51 At first I was trying to be kind of careful with it,
01:53:54 and then I was just like, screw that.
01:53:56 Like I'm just, I gotta get this stuff.
01:53:58 - Gotta do your job. - I gotta get this stuff.
01:53:59 - It's fun to speculate,
01:54:00 and we saw LeBron sitting courtside at the Cav Celt.
01:54:04 Everything that he does seems to be very calculated.
01:54:06 He's been very good about that.
01:54:07 He's sending some kind of message.
01:54:09 I don't know what the message is,
01:54:10 but I think there's nobody better to ask than you
01:54:12 about what that message could be.
01:54:14 - Yeah, I asked about that this morning
01:54:15 with somebody who would know
01:54:18 and was told to not read any message into it
01:54:21 that it was legitimately,
01:54:23 I think they were in Cleveland for Mother's Day,
01:54:25 he and his wife, knows a lot of the players in the game,
01:54:29 young guys who've come through his camps,
01:54:31 obviously has the connection with Cleveland.
01:54:34 Said Dan Gilbert was super gracious with getting,
01:54:38 obviously allowing them to sit there,
01:54:40 I don't know if they, has to allow them.
01:54:42 And so to not read anything into it,
01:54:45 I said, now, he knows when he does that,
01:54:50 it's going to be a conversation.
01:54:51 I think he came in, I'm not sure he was there for the tip,
01:54:53 I think he kind of came in.
01:54:55 I think his intention is still to be in LA,
01:55:01 to finish with the Lakers,
01:55:02 but you guys know it isn't always a straight line
01:55:04 to get there.
01:55:05 - Right.
01:55:06 - And I think, what I was told still is,
01:55:07 it's just gonna be, what does the contract look like?
01:55:11 Do you, you can opt into your deal,
01:55:13 you can opt out and do a two year deal, three year deal.
01:55:17 I think those are the questions,
01:55:18 but that, they'll get to June or around that deadline,
01:55:22 they'll be evaluating what it looks like,
01:55:24 what else might be out there.
01:55:26 I'm not saying it can't change,
01:55:28 because you guys know it can.
01:55:29 It changes on a dime in this league.
01:55:31 But as of now, I was told that was not meant to be a message.
01:55:36 But if you're the Lakers, like, okay, like, you know.
01:55:41 - Yeah.
01:55:42 - And we went through it at the trade deadline,
01:55:43 Ramona Shelburne and I had the story on the Warriors,
01:55:46 and like, the Warriors called and they talked,
01:55:48 and Rich eventually shut it down,
01:55:51 said we're not doing this, he's not interested in it.
01:55:53 But there were a couple days there
01:55:55 where there was some back and forth,
01:55:56 where if LeBron said, hey, I'd like to do this,
01:55:59 there was a world where it could have happened,
01:56:02 but he ultimately shut it down.
01:56:05 - Yeah, so I heard everything you said,
01:56:07 I respectfully disagree.
01:56:09 So LeBron's just gonna go to Cleveland.
01:56:10 He's either trying to go to Cleveland,
01:56:13 or he might be trying to go to Boston.
01:56:15 - Yeah.
01:56:16 - Oh, interesting.
01:56:18 - We didn't address that.
01:56:18 - Or he's trying to get Tatum to the Lakers.
01:56:20 - Just recruiting in person.
01:56:22 - Oh, there's a lot of things going on out there.
01:56:25 - Yeah.
01:56:26 - LeBron and Boston, that would be.
01:56:27 - Does that frustrate you ever when you're like,
01:56:29 we're fans, we like to play fan fiction,
01:56:32 we like to just make stuff up?
01:56:33 Are you ever like, everyone's just making this up,
01:56:35 and it's not in facts?
01:56:38 - Listen, well, I don't have my job
01:56:41 if people don't love that.
01:56:44 Like, that's part of why I've been able to do this.
01:56:46 So, like, you're allowed to.
01:56:49 Like, it doesn't bother me.
01:56:50 Like, you know, if we're gonna do like a 15-minute segment
01:56:53 on ESPN about something that maybe is not based in reality,
01:56:57 that's different than people doing it on social media.
01:57:00 Like, that's the fun of it.
01:57:01 It's like, that's what people love about
01:57:04 like the player movement.
01:57:05 And you've seen nothing is as crazy as some things can sound.
01:57:09 We've seen it in this league where you go,
01:57:11 well, that doesn't seem, I mean,
01:57:13 I remember when I reported in the year before,
01:57:16 you know, maybe like six months ahead of where Durant
01:57:20 went from Oklahoma City to Golden State,
01:57:23 when I said, hey, there's,
01:57:25 these guys are batting eyelashes at each other, right?
01:57:27 Like, Golden State's at the cap space, you know,
01:57:31 Warrior players were already starting
01:57:33 to kind of recruit LeBron,
01:57:35 or excuse me, LeBron, KD.
01:57:37 And this is a possibility in free agency.
01:57:39 People were like, that's ridiculous.
01:57:41 They were, I remember the day I reported it,
01:57:43 I think the Warriors were 44 and four.
01:57:46 Like, they're not bringing KD in,
01:57:48 but teams are always planning and, you know,
01:57:51 it wasn't done that day,
01:57:53 but the idea that it couldn't happen,
01:57:55 and it did seem preposterous.
01:57:56 Like, who's gonna go to the Warriors?
01:57:57 But like we said, like LeBron going to Miami
01:58:00 and then LeBron going back to Cleveland,
01:58:03 it made it easier for guys like KD and other guys to say,
01:58:05 I'm gonna go play where I want, when I want, right?
01:58:08 Like, you're not seeing guys in free agency anymore.
01:58:10 Like, many fewer guys are like out in free agency.
01:58:14 It's like, I'm gonna sign the Supermax where I am,
01:58:17 I'm gonna take my money now,
01:58:19 and I'm gonna fix the destination later.
01:58:20 I'm gonna go in the portal, right?
01:58:22 Like, this is gonna be a summer of like a bunch of guys
01:58:24 in the NBA portal.
01:58:25 Like, I'm not taking less money to go somewhere
01:58:27 as a free agent, you'll just trade me.
01:58:28 - Yeah, what about when an anonymous Twitter account
01:58:32 starts getting some things right?
01:58:34 Do you have to like look at it and you're like,
01:58:35 oh shit, they got this?
01:58:36 Or like, you know, we had the material change kid.
01:58:39 I can't remember what free agency.
01:58:41 - That was Kawhi, I think.
01:58:42 - Yeah, it was Kawhi where he just reported something
01:58:44 and then was way wrong.
01:58:45 And it was like, well, it was a material change.
01:58:46 - I think he was gonna go to the Lakers maybe.
01:58:47 - Yeah.
01:58:48 - And he went to the Clippers according to this guy.
01:58:50 - But is there ever like someone who's reporting something
01:58:54 that's like, they're anonymous,
01:58:55 but they just got two in a row that are right.
01:58:57 And like, now I gotta start looking into this.
01:58:59 - I think like you can predict,
01:59:02 like there's a difference between predicting and reporting.
01:59:04 - Right.
01:59:05 - I've got a report, but you could sit around
01:59:08 and like you could make predictions
01:59:10 that are gonna come true.
01:59:12 Now no one's gonna count all the,
01:59:13 no one's gonna pay attention to all the ones that didn't.
01:59:16 - Right.
01:59:16 - But if you hit on three out of 10 or three out of 20
01:59:19 or three out of eight, if I do that in my job,
01:59:22 I'm back working parks and rec in Bristol, Connecticut,
01:59:25 down the street from ESPN where I started out, so.
01:59:28 - What about the biggest trade that didn't happen?
01:59:30 One that almost went down, but they backed out.
01:59:33 - Oh, good question.
01:59:34 - Thank you.
01:59:35 - I'd say Kobe Pistons.
01:59:38 That was close.
01:59:39 - Kobe Bowles too.
01:59:41 - Kobe Bowles, but like there was a deal with the Pistons
01:59:43 where it was like Rip Hamilton.
01:59:48 I reported it year, like way after.
01:59:51 I don't remember, it was like Tayshaun, Rip Hamilton,
01:59:55 a bunch of picks.
01:59:57 And Kobe, they had agreed to it essentially, the two teams,
02:00:00 but Kobe had a want to do it.
02:00:02 And I think he went to Jerry Bustos' house,
02:00:07 and they just decided, I think Jerry,
02:00:11 Kobe was in that period where like, I want out of here.
02:00:14 And I think he kind of pulled him back in.
02:00:16 That trade was agreed to, like the two teams were the terms.
02:00:21 But it was contingent on,
02:00:23 Lakers didn't want to do it for obvious reasons.
02:00:26 And then Kobe just said, I don't want to do this trade.
02:00:29 But like it was, I mean,
02:00:31 think of how different the world would have been
02:00:33 if Kobe lands in the Pistons or the Bowles or Dallas.
02:00:37 You know, like that summer,
02:00:38 they talked with a bunch of teams.
02:00:39 They were ready to do it.
02:00:41 And looking back, you know, he,
02:00:43 you know, I know he was obviously glad
02:00:47 he played his whole career in LA.
02:00:49 - Yeah, worked out for him.
02:00:50 All right, so Woj, this has been awesome.
02:00:52 We want you back on, you're a recurring guest now,
02:00:54 so you actually have to come back on whenever we ask.
02:00:56 But I had one last question, rollback question,
02:00:59 RHOBACK.com, promo code take.
02:01:01 20% off your first purchase, Q-Zips, polos, hoodies,
02:01:04 joggers, shorts, rollback.com, promo code take.
02:01:08 Full disclosure, I wanted, this isn't even a question.
02:01:10 Have you thought about changing the Twitter avatar picture,
02:01:14 updating it possibly?
02:01:16 - What is it now, just a picture of me?
02:01:17 - It's just a picture of you.
02:01:18 - Is it a bad picture?
02:01:19 - Kind of smug.
02:01:21 So I pulled up all the times we've talked about you.
02:01:25 I want to be full disclosure here, some things we've said.
02:01:29 - Let me see this, hold on.
02:01:30 - You're smug.
02:01:30 - You look very professional.
02:01:31 - Yeah, but you're smug.
02:01:32 - I don't think that's smug.
02:01:33 - It's a little smug.
02:01:34 - There are many smug pictures of me.
02:01:35 I don't think that's one of them.
02:01:36 - Is that a picture day?
02:01:36 Did you have picture day at ESPN?
02:01:37 - No, that's like on set for SportsCenter.
02:01:39 That's an old one.
02:01:40 - Wait, wait, let me see.
02:01:41 - It's like two pairs of glasses.
02:01:42 - Let me see it.
02:01:43 Oh no, you updated it.
02:01:43 Okay, nevermind.
02:01:44 The one I'm looking at is the really smug one.
02:01:48 - That's okay.
02:01:49 - Yeah, that one was fun.
02:01:50 - That was my first headshot at ESPN.
02:01:51 - Okay, all right.
02:01:52 - They use that on TV when I'm not on air
02:01:56 and I replaced that one.
02:01:57 I didn't love that one.
02:01:57 - Okay, good.
02:01:58 - They were like bigger glasses, we're good.
02:01:59 - Then I don't have to say all the things
02:02:00 we said about that picture.
02:02:02 - Go ahead.
02:02:02 - Okay, I think this was me.
02:02:05 I said, "Woah, just Twitter picture pisses me off.
02:02:07 "He's got that smug, I want to punch this guy
02:02:08 "in the face look."
02:02:10 PFT said, "It's the body language.
02:02:11 "It looks like LinkedIn picture for some financial banker."
02:02:15 I said, "He thinks he's a big wig at JP Morgan
02:02:17 "on Wall Street, but he's really just at Omaha Mutual."
02:02:21 PFT said, "He's a vice president,
02:02:22 "but he works at a place where there's like
02:02:24 "200 vice presidents, so they don't have
02:02:25 "to call them sales people."
02:02:27 I said, "You're a VP, but you get no equity.
02:02:30 "He just looks like he knows something.
02:02:31 "I don't know and I want to punch him."
02:02:33 PFT says, "He does, he knows every single pick
02:02:35 "in the NBA draft."
02:02:36 - I'm glad I changed that picture.
02:02:38 (laughing)
02:02:39 - I wanted to just let you know that there was a moment
02:02:41 in time where we were like,
02:02:43 we want to punch him and also put him--
02:02:45 - None of that was unfair, by the way.
02:02:47 - In the new one, you look like a senior vice president.
02:02:50 - Yeah, you look good.
02:02:51 You've got a promotion.
02:02:51 - Yeah, congrats.
02:02:53 - I like to, we like to, you know,
02:02:54 the beauty of this show is if you come on,
02:02:56 you end up looking good because we'll just say
02:02:58 the dumb shit we said about you,
02:02:59 and if you can take it, it's great.
02:03:01 So, good that you updated it.
02:03:03 You're no longer, you know, VP.
02:03:06 - If I change it again, can I text you guys?
02:03:08 Can I give you three or four choices?
02:03:09 - Yeah, give us our, yeah, we'll have final say on it.
02:03:11 - Yes, please do.
02:03:12 - Maybe bring Rossini in.
02:03:13 - Yeah, we'll just do like a ranking
02:03:15 of which one we want to fight the most.
02:03:17 (laughing)
02:03:18 - It would be a quick fight.
02:03:20 If you haven't figured it out yet.
02:03:22 - Well, Woj, you got one last question?
02:03:24 - Yeah, I just had a question about, you know,
02:03:25 more of a big picture future of the NBA type of thing.
02:03:29 If you're looking outside, we can generally agree
02:03:31 there's like six teams that are kind of at the top,
02:03:34 five or six teams.
02:03:36 Outside of those, maybe it's a team
02:03:37 that didn't make the playoffs,
02:03:38 maybe it's a team that is kind of
02:03:40 in the bottom tier of the playoffs.
02:03:42 Next two, three years, what's a franchise
02:03:44 that you think is motivated to make changes
02:03:47 that will result in them kind of entering
02:03:49 that discussion of the upper echelon?
02:03:52 - The Spurs are coming because of Victor.
02:03:54 I had a GM/president of one of the teams
02:03:58 who's very much in the mix for a championship right now
02:04:00 who said to me a couple weeks ago,
02:04:02 "We better all get our winning out of the way fast.
02:04:04 "We better get our winning done fast.
02:04:06 "'Cause once that kid has anybody around him,
02:04:09 "he's gonna win everything all the time."
02:04:10 - Wow.
02:04:11 - You think they make a change this off season?
02:04:12 They get aggressive or is that something
02:04:14 that they're gonna wait on?
02:04:15 - I think because they have so many picks,
02:04:16 I think they'll, they wanna improve
02:04:18 the point guard position.
02:04:20 They could go out in the trade market
02:04:21 and get like a solid veteran point guard
02:04:24 who can kind of bridge them for a couple years.
02:04:26 They have so many picks.
02:04:28 Maybe they find a point guard in this draft,
02:04:30 Dillingham from Kentucky or Reed Shepard, whoever it is.
02:04:33 But next year's draft is loaded.
02:04:37 They could have as many as four lottery picks based on.
02:04:41 And so, I don't think they're going all in
02:04:45 on some veteran who makes 40 or $50 million.
02:04:47 They don't have to.
02:04:49 They just gotta get something on Victor's timeline.
02:04:51 They'll be way better next year
02:04:52 because he's gonna be so good.
02:04:55 And listen, they have to put pieces around him.
02:04:58 He's going to dominate this league in ways,
02:05:00 like I think on both ends of the floor,
02:05:02 unlike we've seen.
02:05:03 - Wow, all right.
02:05:03 - Hey, good question.
02:05:04 Well, Woj, this has been awesome.
02:05:06 We really appreciate you coming by.
02:05:07 - Great guys, I appreciate it.
02:05:07 Honor of being here.
02:05:08 - Yeah, a lot of fun.
02:05:09 And yeah, when we call on you in the future,
02:05:11 you're gonna have to come on.
02:05:13 - I will step to.
02:05:14 - We're Woj guys.

02:06:59 Okay, we now welcome on a recurring guest,
02:07:03 friend of the program.
02:07:04 It is Shane Bacon.
02:07:05 He is in Louisville, Kentucky at Valhalla
02:07:10 for the PGA Championship, which starts on Thursday.
02:07:14 And we wanted to get some insight into the tournament,
02:07:18 talk to Shane.
02:07:19 He also is bringing back the Get a Grip pod,
02:07:22 so go subscribe now.
02:07:23 He also has a children's book out
02:07:25 that I actually read to my kids.
02:07:26 They love it.
02:07:27 Only problem is too long, little too long.
02:07:30 We skipped some pages, which is tough
02:07:32 because the holes are numbered in the book.
02:07:34 But you've probably been there where you're like,
02:07:37 all right, we got to get through this book.
02:07:39 We're going to skip, oh, we're at hole four.
02:07:41 Now we're at hole 11.
02:07:42 - Big Cat, I'll tell you this.
02:07:44 I also skip holes with my daughter.
02:07:46 So I didn't make it any better.
02:07:47 You're not the only one.
02:07:48 The guy that actually wrote the book also skips as well.
02:07:51 But good to see you boys.
02:07:52 I just talked to Mr. Homa,
02:07:54 who I know you'll be paying close attention to.
02:07:57 And his exact quote was,
02:07:59 hoping to be Seabiscuit this week in Kentucky.
02:08:02 So we'll see if that actually happens for Mac.
02:08:06 - I like that, not Secretariat, Seabiscuit.
02:08:08 - Seabiscuit is dead though, right?
02:08:10 - They're all dead.
02:08:11 - Well, I mean, legends die, Big Cat, you know that.
02:08:13 - Yeah, Seabiscuit died a long time ago.
02:08:15 - But wait, wasn't Seabiscuit small?
02:08:17 - Well, it was a horse.
02:08:19 - Yeah, but it was like small for a horse, in horse sense.
02:08:22 - I liked that Mac's getting into it
02:08:24 because I feel like there's going to be a lot of that
02:08:27 horse puns all weekend on the broadcast.
02:08:30 - Horses and whiskey.
02:08:32 Prepare yourselves for a lot of that this week.
02:08:34 They're pushing that pretty heavy.
02:08:36 I think there's like little thing,
02:08:37 like the big boots and structures around the golf course
02:08:41 that are kind of promoting that as well.
02:08:43 So that's going to be a big part of the week
02:08:44 as to be expected.
02:08:45 - Yeah, it would rock if they put like a wreath
02:08:47 of like black eyed Susans or roses on the winner
02:08:50 right afterwards, like they're a horse.
02:08:52 - Yeah.
02:08:53 - And then have a horse come up and interview them.
02:08:53 That's my favorite part of the Derby.
02:08:55 - But we were just talking about Max Homa.
02:08:57 So I want to make sure to talk about him right off the bat.
02:09:00 He is in my threesome of the week,
02:09:02 which is Brooks, Max and Spieth, I believe.
02:09:07 - Okay.
02:09:08 - So in a threesome,
02:09:09 somebody always gets their feelings hurt.
02:09:11 I feel like Spieth is going to be on the outside looking.
02:09:13 I feel like Max and Brooks,
02:09:15 this tournament sets up pretty well for them.
02:09:17 Am I way off?
02:09:18 - No, no, no, dialed.
02:09:19 I mean, this is, you know, it's wet here.
02:09:20 It's been raining the last couple of days.
02:09:21 I think it's basically going to rain off and on until Sunday.
02:09:24 So when you're looking at players to pick
02:09:26 or favorites to kind of focus on,
02:09:28 I'm looking at guys that hit it far and hit it high.
02:09:30 Guys like Rory McIlroy and Brooks.
02:09:32 Max is kind of sneaky long as well.
02:09:34 That's a big golf term that we like to throw out there.
02:09:36 So I like those two,
02:09:38 but I think you're dialed on.
02:09:39 The person on the outside looking in,
02:09:41 Jordan just hasn't really played great golf
02:09:43 in the last few years.
02:09:44 And Jordan's one of those players
02:09:45 that's still looking for the career grand slam.
02:09:47 If he could win this week, I mean,
02:09:49 he would join legitimately the most elite group
02:09:51 in all of golf.
02:09:52 I think there's been just five players ever
02:09:54 that have won the career grand slam,
02:09:55 but I don't think this is a Jordan speed golf course.
02:09:58 So yeah, when you're looking at that threesome,
02:09:59 I think Brooks and Max are the likely candidates
02:10:01 to come out of that.
02:10:02 - All right, so Valhalla,
02:10:04 can you tell us just the history
02:10:06 and what this course is going to give us?
02:10:09 You know, the intricacies, what's the unique thing,
02:10:12 what games match up well?
02:10:14 I know you just mentioned a little bit of it,
02:10:16 but give us the download of Valhalla
02:10:17 because I still don't,
02:10:20 the schedule still has snuck up on me every year.
02:10:23 Now that they moved the PGA to second,
02:10:25 it's going to take me a few more years
02:10:27 to be able to like mentally get through that.
02:10:29 - Yeah, and they'll probably move back
02:10:31 to the end of the year
02:10:31 once you kind of get comfortable with that.
02:10:33 I probably am feeling the same thing as you.
02:10:35 First things first, I looked up what Valhalla means,
02:10:37 'cause I knew you'd probably ask that.
02:10:39 It's the great hall described in Norse mythology
02:10:42 where the souls of Vikings feasted
02:10:44 and celebrated with the gods.
02:10:46 Now that sounds relatively grandiose.
02:10:48 I bet PFT liked that,
02:10:50 but it's a golf course that hasn't hosted
02:10:52 a million major championships.
02:10:53 This is just its fourth in terms of PGA championships.
02:10:57 Marks Brooks won the first,
02:10:58 and then of course they get Tiger winning
02:11:00 in that duel with Bob May,
02:11:01 and then Rory won in 2014.
02:11:04 It's a golf course that has
02:11:05 two completely different nine holes.
02:11:07 I was talking to a couple of players today,
02:11:08 and they're talking about the front nine and the back nine
02:11:10 almost look like different golf courses,
02:11:12 but it is really, really long,
02:11:13 and I mentioned it's really soft.
02:11:15 So I think it favors longer players.
02:11:17 Like I'm looking at Rory,
02:11:18 kind of looking on like the sleeper sides of things.
02:11:21 I like Minwoo Lee,
02:11:23 who has had some success this year
02:11:24 and has played well in majors as of late.
02:11:26 Saw hit the gala.
02:11:27 Also a guy that I'm kind of focused on this week,
02:11:29 maybe outside of those top five players,
02:11:31 but you gotta beat it forever,
02:11:33 and you gotta hit it relatively straight
02:11:34 because the rough is gnarly,
02:11:35 and it's gonna play like that.
02:11:36 And when you look historically outside of Mark Brooks,
02:11:39 Tiger in 2000, one of the longest guys in golf,
02:11:41 and Rory of course in 2014,
02:11:43 the longest guy at the time,
02:11:45 and still one of the longest players in golf.
02:11:46 So that's kind of what you're gonna get here this week.
02:11:49 - Yeah, I think Valhalla,
02:11:49 if I remember my Mad Max correctly,
02:11:52 and I think I do,
02:11:53 it's where you,
02:11:54 the like souls of warriors go there in the afterlife.
02:11:57 It's like witness me, I'm about to die,
02:11:59 then I'm gonna be in heaven.
02:12:00 It's like Norse heaven, I guess.
02:12:02 Hank made a face when you said Minwoo Lee.
02:12:04 I just wanna put that on the record.
02:12:06 Hank thinks that's a disgusting pick on your part.
02:12:08 I'm gonna go with you.
02:12:09 You pay more attention to golf than Hank does.
02:12:11 So I'm gonna tell you on that one.
02:12:12 - I play less than Hank.
02:12:13 I play less than Hank as well.
02:12:15 - Yeah, yeah.
02:12:15 - So that's a definite.
02:12:17 - But from an outside,
02:12:18 he'd be one of the guys that's a long shot
02:12:19 that you're looking at that could,
02:12:20 his game translates well.
02:12:22 - Yeah, I mean, he's one of the longest guys on tour.
02:12:23 He's eighth on the PGA Tour this season in driving distance.
02:12:26 He's got kind of more comfortable
02:12:28 over the last couple of years in terms of majors.
02:12:30 Top 22 and three of his last four major starts,
02:12:34 including a tie for fifth last year at the US Open.
02:12:37 I feel like Minwoo Lee is kind of waiting to break through
02:12:40 in that regard.
02:12:40 So even though Hank kind of hates the pick,
02:12:43 I feel like Minwoo Lee's gonna have a good week this week.
02:12:44 - If he hates it, it's a good pick.
02:12:45 - Yeah. - Yeah.
02:12:46 - So you said the front nine and the back nine
02:12:48 are like two different courses.
02:12:49 In what ways are they different?
02:12:50 - I mean, just like undulation, what the holes look like.
02:12:53 It almost looks like they took two different nines
02:12:55 on two different golf courses
02:12:57 and kind of married them together.
02:12:59 Even kind of the way the holes move and meander
02:13:01 feel very, very different.
02:13:02 There's a lot more water
02:13:03 as you kind of creep over to the back nine.
02:13:05 So it's very unique like that.
02:13:07 There's not a lot of golf courses that feel very much
02:13:09 like you're playing two different courses,
02:13:11 but the players that I've talked to
02:13:13 said they love the back nine a lot more than the front nine,
02:13:15 which is obviously what we want as golf fans.
02:13:17 I mean, you prefer the better holes and the more fun holes
02:13:20 to be as they're kind of closing things down on the weekend.
02:13:22 - So I think this is the longest a PGA Championship preview
02:13:27 has ever gone without mentioning the name Scotty Scheffler.
02:13:30 Scotty Scheffler is the best golfer in the world.
02:13:33 It's not really close right now.
02:13:35 Is this just gonna be another Scotty Scheffler tournament?
02:13:39 I mean, it's crazy what he's doing
02:13:41 and it's not just the Masters, it was before the Masters,
02:13:44 but is anyone even close to him?
02:13:46 If Scotty plays his A-minus game, can someone beat him?
02:13:49 - No, not at all.
02:13:51 If he's anywhere in the A's, even the B's,
02:13:52 I feel like Scotty's gonna win.
02:13:54 I mean, four wins in his last five starts.
02:13:56 The one win he didn't have was a T-second
02:13:58 where he missed a 10-footer
02:13:59 and it would have been five straight.
02:14:00 What he's doing, I mean, I looked at his stats earlier
02:14:03 and when you scroll through it,
02:14:05 it's just a one next to everything.
02:14:07 It's bananas to see somebody doing this.
02:14:09 And I mean, you're getting so many comps
02:14:11 to what Tiger used to do, right?
02:14:13 And what we're seeing with Scotty right now.
02:14:15 And when you dive into the stats,
02:14:16 I mean, that's when you really start to see
02:14:18 kind of 2000, 2001, 2002 Tiger Woods.
02:14:21 This guy leads in par three scoring and par four scoring
02:14:24 and Strohskane off the tees and around the green
02:14:26 and iron play.
02:14:28 It's so complete, Big Cat,
02:14:30 that it's incredibly impressive to watch.
02:14:32 And obviously, it took him a little bit of time
02:14:34 to pick up that win.
02:14:35 You know, you think earlier in the season,
02:14:36 even the major championships last year,
02:14:38 he was getting close, but he wasn't winning.
02:14:41 Picking up a couple of the wins once he switched putters
02:14:44 has been huge for him.
02:14:45 And then I always say winning the second major
02:14:47 is the toughest major to win.
02:14:49 Anybody can kind of win one, right?
02:14:50 I mean, you go through the history of golf.
02:14:52 There's a lot of quote unquote no names
02:14:54 that have won one major championship.
02:14:55 There's not a lot of no names that have won two.
02:14:58 And when you look at these young players,
02:15:00 we've got a list of one-time major winners.
02:15:02 So to pick up that second to win the masters,
02:15:04 now kind of gets it rolling and gets it flowing.
02:15:07 I feel like it's gonna be more comfortable for Scotty.
02:15:09 And also something Scotty has that a lot of the players
02:15:12 in the field don't, is he's had a couple of weeks off.
02:15:14 You know, this is a guy that didn't play last week.
02:15:16 And I think that'll bode well
02:15:18 for Scotty coming into this week.
02:15:19 And also Scotty, a guy that bombs it.
02:15:22 You know, this is a guy that we talk so much
02:15:24 about the complete game and the distance is incredible.
02:15:27 And Colin Morkowa talked about it
02:15:29 after he played with him at Augusta National.
02:15:30 He said, you know, I'm hitting five irons
02:15:32 in some of these par fours and Scotty's hitting eight iron.
02:15:35 I mean, I'm just not getting hit it as close as he is.
02:15:36 So I think right now in pro golf,
02:15:39 it is Scotty on the men's side
02:15:41 and Nelly Korda on the women's side
02:15:42 and then everybody else in the gap is growing right now.
02:15:45 - It is fun for golf when we have,
02:15:47 I know, you know, domination makes it maybe not
02:15:50 as fun on Sunday, but like when Tiger was doing it,
02:15:54 just going into a tournament being like,
02:15:55 if this guy's playing his game,
02:15:57 we're just gonna get to watch a spectacle.
02:15:59 And that's what it feels like right now with Scotty Scheffler.
02:16:01 - Yeah, I mean, it's, you asked the A minus game.
02:16:03 What I look at is who has to play their A game to compete.
02:16:06 I look at Rory, I look at Brooks, even look at Max.
02:16:09 I mean, those guys, if they play A, A plus golf,
02:16:11 they can compete and potentially beat Scotty Scheffler,
02:16:14 but most guys don't have their A games
02:16:16 in major championships.
02:16:17 So if a guy shows up with a B plus game,
02:16:19 they're just not gonna be able to hang with that guy.
02:16:21 He's so consistent, he makes no mistakes.
02:16:23 He plays really smart.
02:16:24 I mean, Scotty's doing all the things that Tiger used to do.
02:16:27 You know, Tiger's the most conservative great player ever.
02:16:29 You know, that's something that we kind of, you know,
02:16:32 misconceptualize when we thought about the way Tiger
02:16:34 went about his business.
02:16:35 He'd hit to the fat part of the greens, you know,
02:16:37 he wouldn't take a lot of chances
02:16:38 unless he was super comfortable.
02:16:39 That's the thing I see the most similar to Tiger with Scotty
02:16:43 is he knows exactly where to hit it,
02:16:45 where maybe he makes birdie,
02:16:46 but he's absolutely not gonna make bogey.
02:16:48 And that's tough when you're trying to chase that guy down.
02:16:50 - Yeah, what about Tiger this week?
02:16:51 He said that he feels like he could win.
02:16:53 I would like for Tiger to be in contention.
02:16:55 I think he says that before every tournament though,
02:16:57 because he's obviously a competitor
02:16:59 and he doesn't go into a tournament and think like,
02:17:02 oh, I don't have a chance at winning.
02:17:04 But it's his first tournament
02:17:05 with his new line of clothes, right?
02:17:07 So maybe we're gonna get a boost from that.
02:17:09 - He played Riviera, I think he was Sunday Red,
02:17:12 he played Masters Sunday Red,
02:17:13 but I think this might be the first one
02:17:14 where you can buy the clothes.
02:17:16 So yeah, maybe he does get the boost from, you know,
02:17:18 saying, hey, this shirt looked great when I shot 67,
02:17:21 go online and purchase it.
02:17:23 You know, maybe there's a discount code
02:17:24 or something like that.
02:17:25 But, you know, I'm surprised he's playing, honestly.
02:17:28 I'm surprised he's playing this golf course,
02:17:30 considering the length
02:17:31 and considering what these types of venues ask.
02:17:33 I look at Tiger right now,
02:17:35 and I think the only major he can really contend in
02:17:37 and potentially win is the British Open,
02:17:39 because firm, fast, warm,
02:17:42 things like that play into his hands.
02:17:44 It's just gonna be tough for Tiger to play
02:17:46 at a wet and soft golf course that plays this long
02:17:48 when he's 40 and 50 yards behind a Scotty Scheffler
02:17:51 or a Brooks or a Rory.
02:17:53 I mean, that's just the kind of the window
02:17:54 he's playing in right now.
02:17:55 - Yeah, and what about Rory?
02:17:56 I know there's a lot going on in his personal life right now.
02:17:59 Probably not the best timing for that,
02:18:00 for him mentally to be entering this weekend.
02:18:03 Kind of feel bad for him on that front.
02:18:04 But he did win last weekend.
02:18:06 And we were saying, I don't know if there's any actual
02:18:08 statistical evidence to back this up,
02:18:10 but we feel like Rory is the king of winning a tournament
02:18:14 close to a major,
02:18:15 and then everybody thinking Rory's back,
02:18:17 he's gonna win this one,
02:18:19 and then nothing happens.
02:18:20 How does this course set up for Rory?
02:18:22 And is he playing good enough
02:18:24 where if he has an A, A- effort,
02:18:26 that he could beat anybody not named Scotty Scheffler?
02:18:29 - Yeah, I would say outside of kind of the news today,
02:18:31 he was gonna be my pick.
02:18:33 I mean, just considering the way he's played coming in.
02:18:35 The last time Rory won a major championship,
02:18:37 which was at Valhalla, was 2014.
02:18:39 He won the two events headed in.
02:18:41 Well, he's won two events headed in here.
02:18:42 So when you're kind of looking at reasons to pick Rory,
02:18:45 the other thing I think about is like,
02:18:47 not to get too deep into the personal stuff.
02:18:48 I mean, that's Rory's deal and Rory's situation.
02:18:51 But when Rory had the chip on his shoulder
02:18:54 and kind of played golf like an asshole,
02:18:56 was when he played the best golf.
02:18:57 And so I look at Rory right now,
02:18:59 and maybe that plays into his hands,
02:19:00 because he's tried everything else.
02:19:02 He's come in playing a whole bunch of events in a row
02:19:05 and not played great at majors,
02:19:07 and he's taken weeks off
02:19:08 and not played great at majors and not won.
02:19:09 So maybe there's some level of,
02:19:12 everybody's against me, the world's looking at me,
02:19:14 they're judging me, let me go out here
02:19:15 and just kind of step on some necks
02:19:17 and play some great golf.
02:19:18 So if you're looking for any reason
02:19:20 to pick Rory winning his first major since 2014,
02:19:22 maybe you can lean into that.
02:19:23 - So he's like, how can I fix my game, swing, whatever?
02:19:27 Let's try divorce.
02:19:28 - Yeah, well, he's back on the market.
02:19:30 That might be, he might say like,
02:19:31 - That's true. - Listen, if I win,
02:19:33 - Girls are looking at him.
02:19:34 - I'm gonna be, I'm a champion, baby.
02:19:35 - That's true.
02:19:36 Everyone knows that feeling of like,
02:19:38 oh, are those hot girls looking at me?
02:19:39 I better fucking crush this drive.
02:19:41 - Yeah.
02:19:42 (laughing)
02:19:43 - He crushes most drives, let me just say that.
02:19:44 I mean, it was the number, like the stuff,
02:19:46 I was talking to a player today.
02:19:48 I feel like Rory is one of the rare players
02:19:51 that's gotten into his 30s that has gotten longer.
02:19:53 And when you watch him,
02:19:55 like watch him at the Wells Fargo last week,
02:19:57 I mean, he's able to take on holes and take on bunkers
02:20:00 that almost nobody else in the field can do.
02:20:02 And the way he drove the ball last week,
02:20:04 he's gonna have to do it this week to be competitive.
02:20:06 But I just feel like he was struggling so much
02:20:08 with the driver earlier this year,
02:20:10 which is something he never struggles with, right?
02:20:12 I mean, that's like Steph Curry struggling from three.
02:20:14 Like Steph's gonna make threes.
02:20:16 Like maybe he gets bumped inside
02:20:17 or maybe he's struggling on defense,
02:20:19 but you can rely on the three point shot
02:20:21 if you're Steph Curry.
02:20:22 Rory could always rely on the driver
02:20:24 and it went away for about four months.
02:20:26 Now that it's back, I feel like he can go back out there
02:20:28 and kind of smoke it over some of the lines on a golf course
02:20:30 he knows well, and he's one on,
02:20:33 that plays into his hands, obviously.
02:20:34 - Yeah.
02:20:35 What about our guy, and I already made this bet,
02:20:37 so it doesn't matter what you say to me after it,
02:20:39 but I love Will Zalatorrez.
02:20:41 I was looking at it last night.
02:20:42 He's not playing well.
02:20:43 What's up with him?
02:20:44 I already bet him to win, so that's been decided.
02:20:47 But what's going on with his game?
02:20:49 And does he have, 'cause it always feels like
02:20:52 when Will Zalatorrez is playing well, he'll be in the mix,
02:20:55 but does he have a playing well in his bag right now?
02:20:58 - I think he does, and I think Will Zalatorrez
02:21:00 is one of those guys that the harder the golf course,
02:21:02 the better it is for his game because he hits it so well.
02:21:05 I mean, there are, Big Cat,
02:21:07 there are probably 10 guys in pro golf
02:21:09 that are just at another level in terms of ball striking.
02:21:12 And everybody on tour knows who those guys are, right?
02:21:14 That's Rory, that's Max, that's Brooks Koepka,
02:21:17 that's Scotty Scheffler.
02:21:18 Zalatorrez is in that group.
02:21:20 And so when you think about major championships,
02:21:22 they're longer, the rough is higher,
02:21:24 there's a premium on hit and fairways.
02:21:26 All of those things play into this thing.
02:21:27 It's almost like guys that step up in the playoffs, right?
02:21:30 Maybe they're not great during the regular season,
02:21:32 but they find another gear,
02:21:33 or their game translates in the playoffs.
02:21:36 He's one of those playoff type of players.
02:21:38 So I like Zalatorrez as well this week.
02:21:40 I don't really care what kind of form he's in
02:21:42 coming into these type of events,
02:21:43 because he seems to step it up
02:21:45 no matter if he's playing great or not.
02:21:46 Because again, these golf courses
02:21:48 demand more from everybody,
02:21:49 and he's one of those players that that doesn't scare him.
02:21:52 - Yeah, great ball striker. - 75 to one.
02:21:53 - Yeah, I like those odds.
02:21:54 You mentioned all the great ball strikers.
02:21:56 He left off blocky.
02:21:57 - Oh yeah, blocky's gonna probably win this thing.
02:21:59 - Because it's a year to the point
02:22:03 where he captured America's hearts for about 93 hours,
02:22:06 and then he talked about Rory McIlroy.
02:22:09 If he had Rory McIlroy's tee shots on every hole,
02:22:13 what would he shoot?
02:22:14 Would he be top 10, top 20?
02:22:17 - Career grand slam, probably.
02:22:18 I mean, he probably would've won the Masters.
02:22:20 He probably would've won Wells Fargo.
02:22:21 He would win this week for sure.
02:22:23 Thinking about Pinehurst, I think it plays at Pinehurst,
02:22:25 so US opens his, and then Troon is where they open that.
02:22:29 So, I mean, you're talking a Scotty level run
02:22:32 if blocky could hit it like Rory.
02:22:33 I'm with you there.
02:22:34 - Yeah, I mean, blocky's not a bad guy,
02:22:36 but I'll be honest, I'm rooting for him
02:22:38 to finish dead last.
02:22:39 - It'd be fun.
02:22:40 - Come on, dead last?
02:22:41 - No, yeah, it'd be fun.
02:22:42 - I want him on.
02:22:43 - I want him to finish dead last,
02:22:43 but I also want him to have a hole in one.
02:22:45 - Yeah. - And still finish that.
02:22:46 - I want him to finish dead, dead last,
02:22:48 and just be like, oh man, if he had Rory's distance.
02:22:51 - Do you rather make a hole in one
02:22:52 and shoot your best score ever,
02:22:54 or make a hole in one and shoot
02:22:56 like an obnoxiously high score?
02:22:57 - Oh, obnoxious, yeah. - Like 125.
02:22:59 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:22:59 - So it just stands out.
02:23:00 - Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, that would be way better.
02:23:02 If I shot like a 148 with a hole in one.
02:23:05 - It's hard to do. - I'm with you.
02:23:07 I mean, I think, again,
02:23:08 you're gonna frame the scorecard, right?
02:23:09 - Right. - So why not make
02:23:10 the hole in one the outlier?
02:23:11 - Right, yeah. - Yeah.
02:23:12 - It'd be great.
02:23:13 We have to ask you about the Liv merger,
02:23:16 because I feel at this point
02:23:18 that when they made that announcement last year,
02:23:20 they didn't have anything at all ready to go.
02:23:23 They just got done with a meeting,
02:23:24 and he was like, "Okay, I think we're gonna do a merger.
02:23:27 "Let's do a press conference."
02:23:29 They had no plans in place whatsoever.
02:23:31 Am I off on thinking that it was just
02:23:33 like a spur of the moment,
02:23:34 we're gonna make this announcement,
02:23:36 no idea how it's gonna work,
02:23:37 because people are resigning, it's not going anywhere,
02:23:40 nobody knows what the hell is going on.
02:23:42 They didn't have shit ready to go
02:23:43 when they said this last summer, did they?
02:23:44 - It feels like it.
02:23:46 It feels like it was just kind of
02:23:47 one of those things you throw out there.
02:23:49 It's like the Hawks getting the number one pick,
02:23:51 and you're going, "We're gonna rebuild, man.
02:23:53 "Like, look what we can do now with our team.
02:23:55 "Is there really a plan in the back room,
02:23:56 "or is everybody just high-fiving
02:23:58 "'cause they had the top pick?"
02:23:59 I don't really understand what's happening
02:24:01 in the background.
02:24:02 Everybody's leaving, guys are getting voted off the pack,
02:24:05 Rory's not allowed back on now.
02:24:07 It seems as far as it's ever been in terms of a merger.
02:24:10 The one thing I will say about Liv and the PGA Tour,
02:24:14 it feels like the parties are more comfortable now,
02:24:17 like almost being apart, if that makes sense.
02:24:19 I don't know if you guys feel the same way
02:24:21 in terms of observation,
02:24:22 but it feels like Liv players are really comfortable
02:24:24 being Liv players, and PGA Tour players
02:24:26 are really comfortable being PGA Tour players,
02:24:29 and they're just kind of coexisting.
02:24:30 They show up at the majors, they play practice rounds.
02:24:33 I loved what Brooks said a couple of months ago
02:24:35 when he was asked, "If you had to play one round of golf
02:24:37 "the rest of your life with one pro, who would you pick?"
02:24:39 And he said, "Rory."
02:24:40 Like, it seems like it's kind of simpatico
02:24:42 between these two parties,
02:24:44 and they're just kind of existing.
02:24:45 But I don't know what happened last year.
02:24:47 I don't know what's happened in 12 months,
02:24:49 and it feels like every six weeks or so,
02:24:51 we get a press conference that something's gonna happen,
02:24:53 and then nothing ever does.
02:24:54 - I feel like what happened was the PGA guys
02:24:56 that stuck around, they realized that the PGA
02:24:59 has been kind of full of shit on this,
02:25:00 so they don't have that same animosity towards the Liv.
02:25:03 They can't be like, "You're leaving this great institution.
02:25:06 "We care so much about this institution
02:25:07 "and the future of the game,"
02:25:09 because they realize that, oh yeah,
02:25:11 they don't have a plan in place.
02:25:12 Nothing is happening.
02:25:13 So it's like they've kind of come over to the other side,
02:25:16 which is why we're seeing more and more players, I think,
02:25:18 leave the PGA Tour.
02:25:19 I think the PGA has a leaderboard problem,
02:25:22 where on Sundays in every tournament,
02:25:25 it feels like you just look at the leaderboard,
02:25:27 and you're like, "What is this?
02:25:28 "Is this a major event?
02:25:29 "Is this an event that people usually play in?
02:25:31 "Are you guys skipping this week?"
02:25:33 And then you look at the Liv leaderboard,
02:25:35 and the irony is nobody's really watching the Liv,
02:25:38 but the leaderboards look great.
02:25:39 Hank is watching it.
02:25:40 But the leaderboards look so much better,
02:25:42 and that's what casual golf fans like us care about,
02:25:45 is just that one quick glance and be like,
02:25:47 "I don't know any of these guys."
02:25:48 Yeah.
02:25:49 - Hey, what is Hank like?
02:25:51 Outside of the Patriots, what is Hank like?
02:25:53 - That's a good question.
02:25:54 - The worst.
02:25:55 - 'Cause I feel like I hear a lot of complaining,
02:25:58 and I'm just wondering, like,
02:25:59 Hank, can you give me three things you love in life?
02:26:01 - In life?
02:26:02 - Yeah, golf.
02:26:03 - Just in life.
02:26:04 - I don't complain at all.
02:26:05 - No, no, no, golf, give it to us.
02:26:08 - Golf, family.
02:26:09 - Podcasting.
02:26:10 - Friends.
02:26:11 - Vacation.
02:26:12 - Vacation, the ocean.
02:26:14 - Hank is a big Liv golf fan.
02:26:16 He is like a huge Liv golf fan.
02:26:17 He turns it on all the time.
02:26:20 - Yeah.
02:26:20 - Hank, do you set your alarm and wake up early or no?
02:26:22 - No, I mean, I think the ones Big Cat's talking about
02:26:25 was this last run when they were in Hong Kong and Singapore,
02:26:27 and we were watching at night.
02:26:28 Like, we were watching Sunday afternoon, or Sunday night,
02:26:30 and I was like, "Let's put on Liv."
02:26:31 - Yeah.
02:26:32 - I'm a big time, if golf's on, you know, call me crazy,
02:26:34 if golf's on, I'd rather watch live golf.
02:26:37 - Than anything else.
02:26:38 - No, but like, if it's on, I'm gonna watch it.
02:26:41 - Yeah.
02:26:42 - Well, like, the Liv leaderboard thing
02:26:43 has been so interesting,
02:26:44 because obviously they've got smaller fields,
02:26:46 but you know, I mean, the recipe for success
02:26:48 in terms of somebody looking online,
02:26:50 or even watching it on leaderboard,
02:26:52 is you're inevitably gonna get five of those guys
02:26:54 in the top 10, because they're just so much better
02:26:57 than the guys maybe at the bottom 20.
02:26:58 - Yeah.
02:26:59 - So, Rom's gonna be involved.
02:27:00 Brooks is gonna be involved.
02:27:01 Bryson's gonna be involved.
02:27:03 And so, if you're a casual golf fan,
02:27:04 and you dive into the leaderboard,
02:27:06 that makes a lot of sense.
02:27:07 I will give the PGA Tour a little credit.
02:27:09 It feels like the last couple of weeks
02:27:10 we've had some better leaderboards, which has been nice,
02:27:12 because I'm with you, PFT.
02:27:14 The first couple of months were relatively brutal
02:27:16 in terms of leaderboards.
02:27:17 - Yeah.
02:27:18 - Yeah, so if you were to take, like, a big, big outsider,
02:27:20 like a type of long shot that we saw
02:27:22 win some tournaments this year,
02:27:24 who would be the biggest outsider
02:27:25 that you would put money on?
02:27:27 - I think Sahid Taghali kind of makes sense there.
02:27:30 I mean, again, you're talking about,
02:27:31 he's probably 150 to one-ish, I'd say.
02:27:34 Big Cat, you can check that and let me know.
02:27:36 I mean, he's probably floating around that number.
02:27:39 He's ranked sixth in total strokes gained,
02:27:41 20th in driving distance,
02:27:42 12th in putting over the last three months.
02:27:45 He's a guy that has been finding his game
02:27:48 and getting more comfortable in terms of tour setups.
02:27:50 He's also a guy that misses fairways
02:27:52 and kind of lives by missing fairways.
02:27:55 And when I say that, I mean,
02:27:56 there are wheels out of tourist types
02:27:58 that stripe it all the time.
02:27:59 And then there are dudes that, like,
02:28:01 Phil Mickelson did this throughout his career,
02:28:03 that hit it all over the place
02:28:04 and could play from those spots.
02:28:05 And I feel like Sahid is kind of modern Phil in that regard.
02:28:08 So I'd say he's probably in that
02:28:11 100 to 125 to one range that I kind of like this week.
02:28:14 - Okay, so last question, rollback question,
02:28:16 rhobackk.com, promo code take.
02:28:19 20% off your first purchase, Q-Zips, polos,
02:28:21 hoodies, joggers, shorts,
02:28:23 rollback.com, promo code take.
02:28:25 I know we talked about him at the top.
02:28:28 Can Max win this tournament?
02:28:29 - Yep, absolutely.
02:28:30 I think Max is an athlete that,
02:28:33 when he gets a taste, he gets a taste.
02:28:35 You know, you think about Riviera in 2021, right?
02:28:38 This is a guy that had longed to win that golf tournament.
02:28:40 He wins Riviera and then he wins four times
02:28:42 in the next two years.
02:28:43 He got a taste a little bit at the Open last year,
02:28:46 finished at the top 10,
02:28:47 then he didn't have to answer any of those questions
02:28:49 about major championship golf anymore.
02:28:51 Then he gets to the Masters
02:28:52 and gets himself in contention.
02:28:54 I remember talking to Max after an event a few years ago
02:28:56 and he was close to winning.
02:28:58 And I asked him kind of on Monday,
02:28:59 how does it feel and where are you at?
02:29:01 And he said, "I just want to get back to that moment again.
02:29:03 Like, I want to be back in the arena.
02:29:05 I want to feel those same sensations that I just felt."
02:29:08 And so I imagine that once he left Augusta National
02:29:10 and a couple of days passed
02:29:11 and he realized Scottie was just at a different level,
02:29:14 I'm sure Max felt very similar to that.
02:29:16 I think Max can absolutely win here.
02:29:17 I think it's a good golf course for him.
02:29:19 And I feel like he's been playing better and better golf
02:29:22 than we saw early in the season.
02:29:23 So absolutely, I think Max not only can win,
02:29:26 but I think he's in probably my top three favorites
02:29:28 right now.
02:29:29 - I love that.
02:29:30 I love that for Max.
02:29:31 - Yes.
02:29:32 - My last question is about the Champions Center
02:29:34 because I didn't realize that the PGA Championship
02:29:36 had a Champions Center like the Masters does.
02:29:39 So it was last year,
02:29:42 and I think JT made a little off-color joke
02:29:44 about Mito, right?
02:29:46 And then people talked about that for a while.
02:29:48 When is the Champions Center for the PGA?
02:29:50 Is it Monday?
02:29:50 Is it tonight?
02:29:51 - I believe it's tonight.
02:29:52 If that tells you anything,
02:29:53 I'm not even sure the night it's on.
02:29:55 I did just see Mark Brooks walking through the compound
02:29:59 about 10 minutes ago and he seemed to be leaving.
02:30:01 So maybe he was going to get cleaned up
02:30:03 and put the suit on.
02:30:04 But I think the, I'm pretty sure this dinner,
02:30:08 players have skipped in the past.
02:30:10 So it doesn't quite feel like the one we see,
02:30:12 obviously, at Augusta National.
02:30:14 But as we know anything in sports,
02:30:16 everybody's kind of a lemming.
02:30:17 So once somebody does it, they're like,
02:30:18 "We should do that as well."
02:30:19 And the PGA does it now, but I believe it's tonight.
02:30:22 - Okay.
02:30:23 That's really the only reason I would want to win
02:30:24 a tournament, to come back for those dinners.
02:30:26 - Would you go tux?
02:30:27 Would you go suit?
02:30:28 What would you go?
02:30:29 - I'd probably, I don't know, probably just a T-shirt.
02:30:32 T-shirt, sweatpants.
02:30:33 Just keep it comfortable.
02:30:35 - Lay it out there.
02:30:35 Maybe it should be, maybe that should be their thing.
02:30:37 Like the Masters does, you pick the menu.
02:30:40 Maybe the winner of the PGA should pick the outfits
02:30:43 everybody has to wear.
02:30:43 - You're gonna pick like a theme,
02:30:45 pick a theme for the night.
02:30:46 - Ooh, like the Met Gala.
02:30:47 That's smart.
02:30:48 - Yeah, yeah.
02:30:49 Or yeah, just thinking back through all the college parties
02:30:51 I went to, probably all of those are not acceptable
02:30:55 for mixed company, but that's fine.
02:30:57 - Yeah.
02:30:58 All right, well, Shane, thank you as always.
02:31:00 We appreciate it.
02:31:01 And have fun out there,
02:31:02 and we'll be watching the whole thing.
02:31:04 - All right, thanks, boys.
02:31:05 Appreciate it.
02:31:07 - Shane Bacon is brought to you by Topgolf.
02:31:09 It's golf, it's not golf, it's Topgolf.
02:31:12 We've been to Topgolf, whether you love golf
02:31:14 or if you've never swung a club before,
02:31:16 they're the place to play.
02:31:18 Big head, I loved it when we went to Topgolf.
02:31:19 - Yes. - And we saw it, didn't you?
02:31:21 We had all those competitions that we played.
02:31:22 - And we won. - And I felt like me
02:31:23 or you finished in first place in all of them.
02:31:25 It was so cool.
02:31:26 - Ah, yeah, no, we did.
02:31:28 - Yeah, we won all of them.
02:31:29 It was great.
02:31:30 What a great night it was.
02:31:31 It doesn't matter if you're hanging out
02:31:32 with the boys from the podcast,
02:31:33 if you're on date night, guys trip,
02:31:36 or just a fun afternoon activity for your friends,
02:31:38 or if you're trying to evaluate every quarterback
02:31:40 in the NFL draft, Topgolf is a place to go.
02:31:43 Since they want everyone to play,
02:31:44 Topgolf launched a new game.
02:31:46 It's called Block Party.
02:31:47 You remember Block Party, right?
02:31:48 - Yep. - Block Party is super fun
02:31:50 because it lets you score points
02:31:51 no matter where your ball lands.
02:31:53 That's right, even if you don't get it in a target,
02:31:55 you can literally aim anywhere and score everywhere.
02:31:58 Then you can watch the points stack up.
02:31:59 And when you're watching the points stack up,
02:32:01 it's so much fun because you get all the points
02:32:04 and you can be beating people
02:32:05 that think that they're better than you at golf,
02:32:08 hypothetically.
02:32:09 With the launch of Block Party,
02:32:10 now everyone can have a good time as they play Topgolf,
02:32:13 even if you've never swung a club before.
02:32:15 They have all the fun outside with the comfort of inside.
02:32:18 They have climate-controlled bays
02:32:20 with fans for use during the spring days.
02:32:22 Topgolf visit is an anytime activity,
02:32:25 a family activity on a Thursday night,
02:32:27 a Wednesday afternoon with your friends,
02:32:29 a Monday midday break from the office with your coworkers.
02:32:32 Topgolf is great.
02:32:33 So if you're looking for a good time, day or night,
02:32:36 consider this your formal invitation to grab the fam,
02:32:39 a few friends, or some coworkers,
02:32:41 and you can book a bay and come play around.
02:32:44 For details and to book your bay,
02:32:45 go to topgolf.com/partofmytake,
02:32:48 where you can book a bay and come play around.
02:32:50 That's topgolf.com/partofmytake.
02:32:53 - Okay, let's finish up with guys on chicks.
02:32:56 - Before that, quick question.
02:32:57 - Should we be having Hank read these questions?
02:33:00 - Yeah, guys on,
02:33:01 Hank, can we do guys on women?
02:33:03 Is that okay this time?
02:33:04 - Yep.
02:33:05 Before that, do you think,
02:33:09 what is more significant,
02:33:10 Scotty Sheffler baby bump,
02:33:13 Rory McIlroy divorce bump?
02:33:15 - Right, so I think it might be Rory divorce bump.
02:33:18 - I agree. - Because--
02:33:20 - But we're a baby bump show.
02:33:21 - We are, but I don't know,
02:33:23 this might be too soon for the baby bump in golf.
02:33:25 Consider, is the US open on Father's Day?
02:33:28 - Yes. - No.
02:33:31 - Yes. - It is?
02:33:32 - Yes, yes.
02:33:33 - So Father's Day is gonna be Sunday of the US open.
02:33:36 The baby will probably be at the US open on Sunday
02:33:40 in attendance.
02:33:41 - Yes.
02:33:42 - I don't know if the baby's gonna be there this weekend
02:33:45 on the course.
02:33:46 - I would say no.
02:33:47 - But that's not the--
02:33:48 - I think maybe the answer--
02:33:49 - The basis of the baby bump.
02:33:50 - But no, think about,
02:33:51 Hank, close your eyes,
02:33:53 picture Scotty Sheffler, US open,
02:33:55 Father's Day, Sunday,
02:33:58 he's going up 18,
02:33:59 he holes out and his wife and baby are right there.
02:34:02 That feels like that's gonna happen, right?
02:34:03 - True, that's fair.
02:34:04 - Hold on, I'm gonna try to find it 'cause--
02:34:06 - While you're looking for that,
02:34:07 it's worth mentioning that Scotty's caddy
02:34:09 will not be there on Saturday
02:34:10 'cause he's attending his son's high school graduation.
02:34:13 - I'm gonna say this about--
02:34:14 - His friend is caddying on Saturday at a major.
02:34:17 - Scotty Sheffler, too much perspective.
02:34:19 - Way too much.
02:34:20 - Too much perspective.
02:34:22 - Why?
02:34:23 - I mean, his caddy is missing a major
02:34:24 for high school graduation.
02:34:25 - One day, just Saturday around.
02:34:27 - It's a moving day.
02:34:28 - Yeah.
02:34:29 - It's important.
02:34:30 - I think there's a bet you can do where it's like one, two
02:34:35 and maybe we just do that.
02:34:37 One, two, Sheffler--
02:34:39 - Zach DeBox?
02:34:40 - Yeah, one, two, Sheffler.
02:34:41 - Brooks, Max.
02:34:42 - But one, two, Sheffler, McElroy and then one, two--
02:34:45 - This is also, I mean, Brooks did win his first event.
02:34:48 I guess not.
02:34:51 - He won his fourth event on the Live Tour.
02:34:53 - No, I know, but that wasn't the first event
02:34:54 since he had the kid, but he did get the baby bump.
02:34:56 - Also remember Rory's--
02:34:58 - He had the kid on him on the 18th
02:34:59 and all the cute pictures and stuff.
02:35:02 - Rory's last major, 2014, this course.
02:35:05 - Yep.
02:35:05 - Yep.
02:35:07 - It is also a possibility that Sheffler wins both.
02:35:09 - Yeah, I would say so.
02:35:11 Oh yeah, 25 to one, Scottie Sheffler, Rory McElroy.
02:35:17 And then you could just do it reverse, Rory, Scottie.
02:35:22 I don't know, that might be the move.
02:35:24 Hey boys, why is it that my boyfriend and his roommate
02:35:27 have a 50 and 100 foot ethernet cable
02:35:28 legit running through their apartment?
02:35:30 They say it's for better internet connection
02:35:32 for when they drop in with the boys, war zone,
02:35:35 but it is more than just that,
02:35:37 but is it more than just that?
02:35:38 Huge fan, tell Jake the Bing Bong Maxi
02:35:40 on last weekend's PGA Call made my boyfriend's weekend.
02:35:43 Thanks.
02:35:44 - Love that.
02:35:44 - I think you're reading too much into ethernet cable.
02:35:46 I think it's like the first thing I thought of,
02:35:49 it's the meme of like the girl in bed.
02:35:50 I bet he's using that ethernet for weird porn
02:35:52 and then he's just thinking about Call of Duty.
02:35:54 - Yeah, no, this is one of those situations
02:35:57 where you gotta just trust that guys are dumb
02:35:59 and this is like a dumb hobby is just what it is.
02:36:03 - And if it weren't for women,
02:36:05 I think most guys would just have cables running roughshod
02:36:08 all over their apartment or houses.
02:36:10 Just functional, yeah, you've got an extension cord
02:36:13 going across your like basement.
02:36:15 Yeah, that's because that's the good hole.
02:36:17 - Yeah, right. - Over on that side of the wall.
02:36:18 - That's where I get all the power.
02:36:19 - Yeah. - Yeah.
02:36:21 - Sup boys?
02:36:22 My boyfriend and his roommate have a secret hand signals
02:36:25 that they appear to do behind my back,
02:36:26 but I've caught them a couple of times.
02:36:28 They won't share with me what the hand signals mean
02:36:30 and it appears they keep coming up with more
02:36:32 since I've started to notice them.
02:36:34 Does every guy have a secret way of communicating
02:36:36 with their friends when they're with their girlfriends?
02:36:38 P.S. Bing bong maxi.
02:36:40 - Oh, Jake, double.
02:36:42 - He might be in a gang.
02:36:44 Might be just throwing up the pyru.
02:36:48 - He could be in a gang.
02:36:49 I think, no, most guys don't have this, but it rocks.
02:36:52 - Yeah. - Wish.
02:36:54 You know what should be more popular?
02:36:56 And this is because they're in my house now.
02:37:01 Walkie talkies.
02:37:02 - Yeah. - We should just be
02:37:03 bringing back walkie talkies more.
02:37:04 Like we should have walkie talkies for all--
02:37:07 - I feel like we've tried this before
02:37:08 in the office in New York. - Have we?
02:37:10 - Well, yeah, 'cause me and Big Cat have it on our wrists.
02:37:12 - Yeah, it's true, but we should have walkie talkies.
02:37:14 Like I would wear a walkie talkie on my belt
02:37:18 if we all just had walkie talkies around the office.
02:37:22 It's the best when you hit it and you're just like, over.
02:37:25 - I also think that if you're wearing a walkie talkie
02:37:27 and like a Dayglo high-vis vest,
02:37:30 you can get in any room in America.
02:37:32 Nobody's gonna stop a guy with a walkie talkie.
02:37:34 - If I get us some high-tech walkie talkies
02:37:36 or if someone sends them to us,
02:37:37 would you not walk around with it
02:37:39 and we can hit each other up?
02:37:41 - Maybe for a day, what was, oh man,
02:37:42 why can't I remember the commercials?
02:37:44 - Nextel? - Yeah.
02:37:45 - Yeah. (imitates car horn)
02:37:46 - Yep.
02:37:47 - I used to want one of those so bad.
02:37:51 - Hello, PFT, Fat Cat.
02:37:54 (laughing)
02:37:56 - You wouldn't get that one, Hank.
02:37:57 - Fat Cat, Honk, Jake, and Maxi Pad.
02:38:02 I was dating this guy last year
02:38:03 and bought tickets to the PGA Championship for this weekend,
02:38:05 Sunday to be exact, but since then he's moved cities
02:38:08 and we basically mutually ghost each other.
02:38:10 - Oh.
02:38:11 - That's mutually. - Mutually ghosting?
02:38:13 - Should I reach out to him and remind him of the tickets?
02:38:17 - Sounds like you're thinking about not mutually ghosting.
02:38:19 - I think I like golf a little more than he does.
02:38:21 He grew up Amish. - Oh.
02:38:23 - And now I'm in a pickle 'cause I'd really like to go,
02:38:26 but I don't really have girlfriends
02:38:27 that would enjoy watching golf for hours in the heat.
02:38:29 Need some advice on what to do.
02:38:31 - I think given the recent news
02:38:34 that Jeff Nadeau does not have chlamydia,
02:38:36 you should definitely have him come.
02:38:37 Mutual ghosting is a wild thing to say.
02:38:42 There's no way it was mutual.
02:38:44 That was a you can't fire me, I quit.
02:38:47 Like she got, she or, I don't know.
02:38:49 - She was waiting.
02:38:50 - She got ghosted and like after like two texts was like,
02:38:53 you know what, I might get ghosted.
02:38:54 Let me pull out and ghost here too.
02:38:56 - How many relationships that were off
02:38:57 to like a really good start do you think have been ruined
02:38:59 by both teams playing the I'm gonna wait 'til they text me.
02:39:03 - Yeah. - I'm not gonna text them first.
02:39:05 And then nobody just ever texts each other afterwards.
02:39:08 - Yeah. - Yeah.
02:39:09 - Yeah, oh Hank, that hurt. - Yeah.
02:39:10 - No. - Yeah.
02:39:12 - Yeah. (laughing)
02:39:14 So you've mutually ghosted. - Yeah, you've texted her,
02:39:15 Hank.
02:39:17 (silence)
02:39:19 Anyway. (laughing)
02:39:20 - Hank, no, Big Cat brings up a good point.
02:39:22 Don't let this be the one.
02:39:23 - There's been accidental ghosts.
02:39:24 I'm not gonna get into it.
02:39:25 - Accidental ghosts.
02:39:26 - Send a text.
02:39:28 - Accidental ghost is definitely worse
02:39:29 than a mutual ghost, right?
02:39:30 - Send a text right now being like,
02:39:31 hey, I was waiting for you to text me first.
02:39:34 And I think we were doing the same.
02:39:36 I really miss you. - Got it, got it.
02:39:38 - Hey boys. (laughing)
02:39:40 Big AWL here.
02:39:41 I'm 34 year old bartender and I love my job.
02:39:44 But I've had a hard time finding a guy
02:39:45 who wants to commit a relationship.
02:39:48 Is my profession the problem?
02:39:50 Do guys assume I'm wild because of what I do for a living?
02:39:52 - What does she do?
02:39:53 - Bartender? - Bartender?
02:39:54 It might be the hours.
02:39:55 I don't know if it's about being a bartender.
02:39:59 There's nothing wrong with being a bartender.
02:40:00 I think most guys are like,
02:40:01 I don't wanna date this person
02:40:03 because they work serving liquor.
02:40:06 I think it's like, hours of bartending are crazy.
02:40:08 - But I feel like the service industry--
02:40:11 - Yeah, hookups happen.
02:40:12 - Yeah, like that.
02:40:14 I think you have to, I feel like a lot of bartenders
02:40:17 who become professional bartenders,
02:40:19 they have that moment where they're like,
02:40:20 is this gonna be my profession?
02:40:21 And then you just start making enough money that it is.
02:40:24 So if you work at a busy bar, the tips are crazy.
02:40:27 I never understood that.
02:40:28 Why you'd be like, oh, you're 40 and bartending?
02:40:31 What if they're making $100,000 a year in cash tips?
02:40:35 Why wouldn't you do that?
02:40:36 - Yeah, I think it would take a,
02:40:38 not every guy can date a bartender
02:40:40 because I think a lot of guys would take advantage of that
02:40:43 where they just bring all their buddies,
02:40:45 we can get free drinks all night.
02:40:46 And also knowing that you're gonna get hit on
02:40:49 by every guy that you talk to every single night.
02:40:52 Not every dude is comfortable dealing with situational.
02:40:56 - You need a true alpha male,
02:40:57 not someone who's gonna be a beta.
02:40:58 - Yeah, so when the guy does come around,
02:41:00 he's gonna be confident.
02:41:01 - Yeah, confident and cocky.
02:41:03 His name's gonna be Hank.
02:41:05 - That's it.
02:41:06 - Okay, good show.
02:41:08 Great show.
02:41:09 - Great show.
02:41:10 - A very fun show.
02:41:11 - Maybe the Hot Studio helps.
02:41:12 - Yeah.
02:41:12 - I just invited you to walkie talkie.
02:41:14 - Oh.
02:41:15 You've been invited.
02:41:17 - Yeah, Apple Walks.
02:41:18 - Oh, it's on the, okay.
02:41:18 - Okay, numbers 20.
02:41:21 - 56.
02:41:23 - Oh, you had one in the barrel there, Max.
02:41:26 - Three.
02:41:26 - 46.
02:41:27 What is that, Max?
02:41:29 - That's what I won with in New York.
02:41:32 - Oh, all right.
02:41:33 - Three.
02:41:33 - Someone's gonna start taking 56.
02:41:35 - 99 pug.
02:41:37 - Jake, what number are you taking?
02:41:39 - Over.
02:41:40 - 18.
02:41:41 - 18.
02:41:42 - Oh, no, 18.
02:41:44 - He said 10-4.
02:41:45 - No, you said 10-4.
02:41:46 Which one, 10 or four?
02:41:47 - 18.
02:41:48 - You just said 10-4.
02:41:49 - I said 18 before.
02:41:50 - That means 14.
02:41:51 - Yeah.
02:41:52 - 18.
02:41:53 - Okay.
02:41:53 We have everyone's numbers?
02:41:55 Shane?
02:41:56 - 21.
02:41:57 - What was yours, PFT?
02:41:58 - Eight.
02:41:58 - Eight.
02:41:59 What was yours, Hank?
02:42:00 - 46.
02:42:01 - I have 20.
02:42:02 (crowd cheering)
02:42:05 - 60.
02:42:16 - 60.
02:42:18 Love you guys.
02:42:20 (whooshing)
02:42:22 (whooshing)
02:42:25 (whooshing)
02:42:27 (whooshing)
02:42:29 (whooshing)
02:42:31 (whooshing)
