Exclusive first look of the new UNCLE apartments in Leeds

00:00 Onkle is an idea which is bringing rental housing to the modern day era.

00:07 So the idea we talk about is taking the Lord attitude out of being the landlord.

00:11 And by doing that, we're trying to bring customer experiences like you'd have in hotels or rental

00:17 cars or airlines, the good ones, if there are any, to what your renting experience is.

00:22 So we have services, we have product that we think is modern and contemporary, we have

00:27 gyms on site, we have Pelotons on site, we have co-working space for when you work from

00:31 home, all the things in a modern era you would want as a renter.

00:35 Is this very different to what's already being offered in Leeds?

00:40 We think so.

00:41 There are some new properties that have been opened over the last year or two and we think

00:45 what we're bringing to Leeds and particularly around this Wellington Place neighbourhood

00:50 is new to the market and will increase level of expectation for customers, we hope, for

00:57 years and decades going forward.

00:58 Whereabouts have you got other properties?

01:02 We have other locations.

01:03 We launched the brand seven years ago in London.

01:05 In total now by the end of this year will be 11 locations across all the Onkle properties,

01:11 totalling around 3,500 apartments.

01:14 We're also in Manchester, but this is our first building in Leeds, so we're very excited

01:18 about that.

01:19 What's the reason why you selected Leeds?

01:22 Leeds has been on our radar screen for a while and we've been looking at growing markets

01:27 outside of London.

01:28 Manchester happened to come first.

01:30 This project has been in the works now for three or four years.

01:34 We went on site here, we started two years ago.

01:36 This Onkle Leeds is over 450 units and we're going to add another 450 plus units next year

01:42 as well, so it's going to be a big place for us and a really important market for Onkle.

01:47 You must be quite excited.

01:49 I'm thrilled.

01:50 I'm super excited to be here, seeing what we've delivered and there's a lot more to

01:54 come in finishing out the building with a bowling alley and gyms and co-working spaces,

02:00 all of which are coming along in the next month or two.

02:03 When are you expecting to be open?

02:05 We're open now, so for people to come and book a viewing you could live here and move

02:09 in next week.
