ভারতের বঙ্গোপসাগরের অন্তর্গত আন্দামান উপকূল অঞ্চলের চারটি আদিম উপজাতির মধ্যে অন্যতম হল জারোয়া । অনুমান করা হয়, তারা জাঙ্গিল উপজাতির বংশধর । আবার অনেকে তাদের আফ্রিকা থেকে চলে আসা প্রথম সফল উপজাতি হিসেবেও মনে করে থাকেন । বর্তমানে দক্ষিণ আন্দামান এবং মধ্য আন্দামানের কিছু অংশে তাদের বাস । জারোয়া উপজাতি আজও সারা পৃথিবীর মানুষের মনে বিশেষ কৌতূহলের জন্ম দেয় । তাদের জীবনযাপন, খাদ্যাভ্যাস কিংবা ভাষা-সংক্রান্ত বিষয়ে বহির্জগতের মানুষের আগ্রহের অন্ত নেই । তাদের বিষয়ে পর্যাপ্ত তথ্যের সীমাবদ্ধতা এখনও রয়েই গেছে । যেনে অবাক হবেন যে জারোয়ারা মারা গেলে মৃতদেহ পোড়ানো কিংবা কবর দেওয়া হয় না বরং মৃতদের হাড়গোড় দিয়ে তীরের মুখ তীক্ষ্ণ করা হয় । কিন্তু ২০১৬ সালে আন্দামানে ঘটে যাওয়া এক নৃশংস শিশুহত্যার ঘটনা সারা পৃথিবীর মানুষকে বাকরুদ্ধ করেছিল।
Jaroa is one of the four primitive tribes of the Andaman Coast region of India's Bay of Bengal. It is assumed that they are descendants of the jungle tribe. Many consider them to be the first successful tribe to come out of Africa. Currently they live in parts of South Andaman and Middle Andaman. Even today, the Jaroah tribe arouses special curiosity in the minds of people all over the world. There is no end to the extraterrestrial interest in their lifestyle, food habits or language. Adequate information about them is still limited. It will come as a surprise that when the Jarawas die, the bodies are not burnt or buried, but the bones of the dead are used to sharpen the arrowheads. But in 2016, a brutal child killing incident in Andaman left people speechless all over the world.
