00:00 It came out in a study that more Gen Z want to go abroad to work.
00:06 Aside from that, they also prefer to work alone than in groups.
00:12 Gen Z were born in 1997 to 2015.
00:16 EJ Gomez has the first news.
00:19 EJ Gomez has been working for a few years now since he graduated from college.
00:27 He is looking for a good salary to help his family.
00:31 Even though he has a good job as a barista, he still wants to go abroad if there's an opportunity.
00:38 Actually, I help my mom to build a house.
00:42 That's why I consider myself to work abroad.
00:45 Aside from that, I also have a brother that I can help.
00:50 If he earns more, he will be able to shoulder the responsibility of being a breadwinner for his family.
00:56 That's also what creative industry worker, Jha, is thinking.
01:00 Honestly, it's really pay grade.
01:02 Because when you compare the salary here in the Philippines,
01:05 where they need the same expertise and skill set abroad,
01:09 the salary you get abroad is higher.
01:11 Amy and Jha are among the 52% of Filipino Gen Z
01:15 who say they want to go abroad to work.
01:20 That's based on a study by a health insurance provider.
01:23 According to the study, most of the Gen Z or youth born between 1997 and 2015
01:30 want to experience new culture and personal growth
01:33 that will also increase their competitiveness and marketability in the global job market.
01:38 Gen Z are the youth who are considered fully digitally native
01:43 because they grew up in the world of social media and smartphones.
01:47 Clinical psychologist, Reynier Ladik explains,
01:50 Since the Gen Z is one of the generation that experienced technological advancement,
01:56 it's easy to get information and see what is life outside of our country.
02:03 Their personality is high in the openness to new experiences of the Gen Z
02:07 that motivates them to try something new.
02:10 There are also economic reasons for the Gen Z to work abroad.
02:16 They are looking for better paying jobs
02:19 because of the continuous increase in prices and not the increase in wages.
02:24 It was also found in the study that more Gen Z are choosing to work independently.
02:31 Pressure and anxiety also give to the Filipino Gen Z if they work as a group or team.
02:38 The mere fact that their work will be observed and evaluated,
02:42 so they feel all the more anxious working with groups.
02:46 Working in groups may not show the skills they have because they are always seen in groups.
02:52 So, Gen Z also want to maximize their freedom.
02:56 This includes the feeling that they can direct themselves
03:00 and they could achieve this by working independently.
03:04 This is the first news.
