00:00 And there is an important choice facing the country.
00:04 Because despite having 14 years with nothing to do but think about the future,
00:09 Labour have almost nothing to say about it.
00:13 No plans for our border, no plans for our energy security,
00:17 no plans for our economy either, and no principles either.
00:22 Keir Starmer's gone from embracing Jeremy Corbyn to Natalie Elphick,
00:26 all in the cynical pursuit of power at any price.
00:31 So Labour have no ideas.
00:33 What they did have, they view-turned on.
00:35 They have just one thing.
00:38 A calculation that can make you feel so bad about your country
00:43 that you won't have the energy to ask what they might do with the incredible power that they seek to yield.
00:49 Now I'm not saying that the past doesn't matter.
00:52 I know people are feeling anxious and uncertain,
00:56 that their sense of confidence and pride in this country has been knocked.
01:00 I understand that. I accept it and I want to change it.
01:05 But what I cannot accept is Labour's idea that all the worries you have
01:10 are because of 14 years of Conservative government,
01:13 that all you need to do is change the people in office and these problems will magically disappear.
01:18 It's just not true.
01:20 In the last 14 years, we've made progress in the most difficult conditions any government has faced since the Second World War.
01:27 A world-leading economy.
01:29 We've seen the third highest growth rate in the G7 and created 4 million jobs, 800 a day.
01:36 We took difficult decisions to restore our country's financial security and control national debt.
01:42 And that allowed us to support the country through Covid,
01:45 deliver the fastest vaccine rollout in the world,
01:48 provide record funding to the NHS and protect pensions with the Triple Knock.
01:53 We've reformed welfare by capping benefits and introducing universal credit to help people into work.
01:58 We've reduced absolute poverty, pensioner poverty, child poverty.
02:03 We've cut carbon emissions by a third,
02:06 maintained our position as NATO's second biggest defence power,
02:09 halved violent and neighbourhood crime,
02:11 and improved standards in our schools with English school children not just the best readers in the UK,
02:17 but in the Western world.
