00:00 [crowd noise]
00:07 The rule in the coaching, the locker room and in the corner. You know what I'm saying?
00:10 Touch gloves if you want to, if not, go back to the corner. Touch gloves if you want to.
00:13 Go go go get it.
00:15 As you see them square off, that's why I said throw 137 out the windows.
00:19 Coach has said that Erdenbot last week was 142 pounds.
00:24 He's just not big for this weight class.
00:26 So we run a little bit, we step right on the scale. See the size disparity in Khabib's Mercados.
00:31 We start round number one.
00:33 Two Southpaws there getting in there. Erdenbok very popular in his native Mongolia.
00:38 We're getting super chats from Mongolia saying go champ, send the hero.
00:42 He looked phenomenal on our air last time out.
00:45 Fought very very solid guy and looked really good.
00:49 And you know just showed a lot of game.
00:52 And Mohammed Samarro so much bigger.
00:54 And yet it seemed as though Erdenbok didn't have any trouble walking and throwing big punches, especially close.
01:01 No, he showed a lot of physical strength in that fight.
01:03 And Samarro was a guy who's been known for having been physically strong.
01:06 And it was in his weight class. And Erdenbok was still in control.
01:09 And Erdenbok, if you guys remember, is the alleged guy that hurt Ryan Garcia's rib with that body shot in camp when Ryan was preparing for Javanta Davis.
01:17 Erdenbok the body snatcher here.
01:19 You can see he goes hard. He puts some mustard behind those body shots.
01:23 We saw one early on through a nice right hook to the backside of Mercado to start this round.
01:29 Great understanding of the ring, Erdenbok.
01:32 You can see right there with the head movement, the way he was trying to cut Mercado off as he was sliding with the looping shots.
01:38 And then just step so deftly out of range to make a miss.
01:42 Two-time Olympian, he's got those fundamentals that you get in the amateurs, right?
01:46 You go into the pros and your fundamentals are sound.
01:48 Very sound fundamentals, great targeting.
01:50 Goes after the body very very well.
01:52 Mercado doing something very interesting, moving into the power hand of Erdenbok.
01:56 He may be not used to fighting another southpaw, he's moving into that power left hand.
01:59 That's the thing, Chaim, you know, and we know that southpaws are something nobody sees often, not even southpaws themselves.
02:05 Right, right. Yeah, most righties don't know how to fight southpaws.
02:07 Most southpaws don't know how to fight southpaws.
02:10 Unless you're boxing with a Cuban national team, you're not seeing a lot of southpaws.
02:14 Yeah, Erdenbok was looking for that right overhand.
02:16 You see a good level change from Erdenbok there. Drops a good jab to the stomach and then the left hand over the top.
02:22 That would have been right hand that might have stunned Mercado for a moment.
02:24 You can see the class in Erdenbok. He's just very calm and cerebral in there.
02:29 Two-time Olympian, I believe he won a silver medal last time out.
02:32 Just a ton of experience there and you can see in his calmness there.
02:37 He said he's looking to go to the Olympic trials in three weeks.
02:40 This time representing the United States.
02:42 Yeah, he said.
02:43 He's going back to his country.
02:46 His trainer was telling me yesterday he's going back to Thailand to try to qualify out of Asia.
02:50 Asian Games.
02:51 Asian Games, yeah.
02:52 Nice little hook there.
02:54 The reason we're saying that is because now the Olympics allow pros to go into the Olympics.
02:59 Which until a few years ago wasn't allowed.
03:02 Watch that elbow there, Erdenbody.
03:05 Look at that strength on the inside. Flinging Mercado off of him.
03:10 Erdenbody with that sly smile there after he made a miss.
03:14 He seems like he's got a lot of personality too when he fights.
03:17 He shows it off. We saw that in Santamaro's fight as well.
03:22 So far he has been the boss in round number one.
03:25 But Mercado not giving up his ground.
03:28 Bells.
03:30 Bells.
03:31 Time.
03:32 Don't stop playing.
03:49 It's the first round. I know you're taking it easy.
03:52 Don't stop playing. Stay focused. You understand?
03:55 Okay.
03:56 [unintelligible]
04:00 He's keeping his hands up really good, but his body is open to the sides, okay?
04:04 [unintelligible]
04:09 Erdenbody in his corner.
04:12 That stocky build. And this is how he's using it so far in the fight.
04:16 And just to your point, Champ, he's never in a rush, Erdenbody.
04:19 He's walking forward, picking his spots.
04:21 There you saw that he's using that physical strength, using that forearm to push Mercado right into the ropes.
04:27 And then use some head movement there, slid out.
04:29 Yes, even level changes, even with his feints.
04:31 Chris, you're a kickboxer. You know what Muay Thai elbow looks like?
04:33 Oh, yeah.
04:34 It looks like that, by the way.
04:35 And those are very, very dangerous, mind you.
04:37 He's got to be careful with that.
04:38 I'm surprised to rush.
04:39 Because he did it more than once in that round.
04:42 Two southpaws going at it.
04:45 Erdenbody in the black and orange, Mercado in the red and black.
04:51 Mercado firing back, though.
04:53 He's not been intimidated by the strength of Erdenbody so far.
04:57 He's been in it.
04:58 Man, Mercado's been in tough his whole career.
04:59 Very, very solid guy. He's gone in the rounds with really good fighters.
05:02 I think he only got stopped the very first time, either in his last fight or the fight before.
05:06 But he's no slouch.
05:08 Yeah, his 17-6 record is earned.
05:10 It's not just one of those randomly half-patted records.
05:14 It's tough.
05:16 Good double hook there by Erdenbody.
05:18 I mean, you wonder if Erdenbody's naturally right-handed, man.
05:21 He whips those right hooks in there.
05:23 I'm curious to see him in his real weight class.
05:25 Like he's fighting at 140 in his last fight, 37 here.
05:29 He's probably a 30-pounder.
05:31 Yeah, he probably could make 30.
05:32 And, again, talking to his coach yesterday, he was telling me that they probably could make 30 if the opportunity was right.
05:39 I'm curious where they're going to go for the Olympics.
05:40 Would it be 132?
05:42 Yeah, he's changing his weight class.
05:44 Nice head movement.
05:46 Rule of thumb, by the way, in combat sports, if the weight cut isn't tough, you're in the wrong weight class.
05:50 Yeah, I always believe that.
05:52 Also, for me, I wanted to feel stressed before the fight.
05:56 I wanted to be hungry, both literally and figuratively.
06:00 I wanted to be hungry fight week.
06:02 When I was fighting at 47, I didn't have to struggle at all, and I think that actually hurt my performance.
06:08 Part of getting into that dark place to go into a fight.
06:11 Ooh, nice try there.
06:12 Just missed. Good right hook.
06:14 Seemed to stagger Mercado.
06:15 It was funny, knowing that Erdenbach has to go to Thailand for the Asian Games and the Olympic trials next month,
06:19 it's almost like he's on half gear right now.
06:22 It's like he won't turn it up enough.
06:23 He's almost conserving himself.
06:25 Maybe he doesn't want to get cut.
06:26 It's almost like you can see the different level that he's on.
06:29 He's just kind of just coasting here, and he's trying to load up a big shot and get this finoma with him.
06:34 That was a good shot.
06:35 You're talking about his patience.
06:36 He's fighting very patiently.
06:37 I may have hurt the eye of Mercado.
06:38 He's parred at it.
06:39 Yeah, it was a little right to the eye socket.
06:41 Look at a nice knuckle shot or possibly a thumb, but that was a good punch.
06:44 Beautiful right hook over the top.
06:46 Money punch for the southpaw.
06:48 Ooh, good, good, well-placed shots here from Erdenbach.
06:53 And Champ, we mentioned earlier how he's not in a rush.
06:55 I meant that as both a positive and a negative, because I saw that in the tomorrow fight.
06:58 It's not just here that he's getting ready for the Games.
07:00 He was like that in that fight, too.
07:01 He could have stepped on the gas a lot more than he did.
07:04 Yeah, it seemed like he was in control throughout that fight.
07:06 What's it like facing a big guy, a strong guy?
07:08 And sometimes guys are so talented, they almost take it for granted, you know?
07:11 Yeah.
07:13 Talent can be a curse.
07:15 But you guys bear it well, and I want you to know that.
07:18 I don't know.
07:19 I think we were two guys who made up for some of that lack of physical gifts with some other things.
07:25 Ooh, good.
07:26 Erdenbach coming in around number two, throwing some big punches.
07:30 [Bell ringing]
07:33 [Cheering]
07:57 [Speaking Spanish]
08:09 Welcome back to ProBox TV.
08:12 This is our main event, Robbie Davies, junior Commonwealth champion,
08:16 British champion, European champion, Sergey Lipinets, world champion at 140 pounds,
08:22 looking to bounce back in his career.
08:25 Look at Erdenbach.
08:27 You talked about the power punches that were on display, especially with that hook.
08:29 That was a thumb.
08:30 That was--you could see the corner of the glove, the way he threw it.
08:32 He didn't turn the punch over.
08:34 It was more like a slapping shot, and the thumb got into that eye crease there.
08:38 Those can be really tough when you get an edge of a glove in the eye socket there.
08:43 Guys, the comment section is full of Mongolians.
08:45 They're--I don't know what time it is over there, but they're all over the place.
08:48 That's awesome.
08:49 There's a super chat from Odusek saying, "Knock him out, Sandy."
08:52 I mean, this is all support for Erdenbach.
08:55 And, again, I was talking--
08:56 Love seeing that.
08:57 I was talking to his trainer.
08:58 He has massive support in Mongolia.
09:00 I mean, he's a national hero as an athlete out there.
09:03 That's fantastic.
09:04 Well, hello, Thailand.
09:05 Thanks for tuning in.
09:06 Mongolia.
09:07 Mongolia, excuse me.
09:08 But he'll be in Thailand competing next month.
09:09 You know what it is because Jimmy brought up the Thai elbow earlier.
09:11 We're just looking at a lot of Asian countries here.
09:13 He's Mongolian.
09:14 Two-time Olympian.
09:15 All right, now I've got to throw $20 in the bin.
09:17 I made my mistake tonight.
09:19 Somebody's walking away rich.
09:21 Now, from Mercado, Pauly, what would you like to see at this point?
09:24 He hasn't really been able to keep Erdenbach off him with the power punches.
09:27 More jabs, a little bit more foot movement.
09:28 Yeah, just the fundamentals.
09:29 Maybe don't fall in with the jab.
09:31 Use your feints.
09:32 Maybe even change your level.
09:33 You can feint with your feet as well.
09:35 He's almost-- You can see he feels so confused.
09:38 And he's trying a lot harder than Erdenbach, but he's having a tenth of the success.
09:42 Yeah.
09:43 I would like him to aim his punches a little bit lower because Erdenbach has such a slippery
09:46 head movement.
09:47 Aim for the collarbone.
09:48 Aim for the shoulders.
09:49 Try and just make some contact because Erdenbach is doing so well at getting underneath and
09:53 outside the range of these punches.
09:55 That's better.
09:56 That's right there.
09:57 The jab right there.
09:58 Even though you're touching gloves, touch something.
09:59 Good body work from Mercado.
10:00 Both hands digging down low.
10:02 Now, Pauly, how difficult is it going to be?
10:04 I'm very curious about this.
10:05 He wants to make the Olympics later on, obviously, during the summer.
10:09 Is it a different style than the pros to go back and forth in styles?
10:12 That's the interesting thing because he's got-- You can see he whips in good, good shots
10:17 and snappy, hard shots.
10:19 But you wonder in the amateurs, the pace is probably a little faster.
10:22 Has that gotten away from him?
10:24 Listen, this is a guy who's won the silver medal at the Olympics, so he knows how to
10:26 succeed there.
10:27 Maybe he's fighting at a slow pace to preserve that for next month, but, champ Chris, you
10:31 just said the last fight was tomorrow.
10:33 You remind us he's hurting this guy now.
10:34 Yeah, he's hurt.
10:35 Good power punches.
10:38 Good fighter from Mongolia turning it on.
10:40 But this is why we're saying exactly that because when he does need to turn it on, he does.
10:45 Big shot.
10:46 Good shot selection too.
10:47 Goes underneath as well.
10:48 No, goes in trouble.
10:49 Beautiful uppercut.
10:51 This would be an impressive stoppage because Mercado's tough.
10:55 Erdembat winging big punches.
10:57 He's not thinking about the Olympics.
10:59 He's thinking about tonight.
11:00 And look at the eyes of Erdembat.
11:01 He's looking at everything.
11:03 Just looked at his corner.
11:04 What?
11:05 What's that?
11:06 What's going on?
11:07 Mouthpiece with-- Oh, we got an eye?
11:10 Eye.
11:11 Eye cartilage.
11:12 Eye cartilage.
11:14 Interesting time to have the doctor come.
11:16 I don't know if the cut's bad enough to-- Awkward stop.
11:18 --randomly stop the action for that.
11:20 Placing is not good.
11:21 Looks like it's on the lid.
11:22 It's not a pretty cut, that's for sure.
11:25 It's all about where it is.
11:27 It's definitely not a pretty cut.
11:28 I've seen worse where they continue-- It's hard to see where it is.
11:31 Does it look above the eye?
11:32 It looks like it's on the lid.
11:33 It's not.
11:34 It's right on the lid, man.
11:35 Oh, is it?
11:36 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
11:37 Okay.
11:38 Oh, yeah.
11:39 Oh, yeah.
11:40 Oh, wow.
11:41 Lid cuts, they will stop it nine times out of ten.
11:42 He doesn't have a lot of big chances to make a cut.
11:45 Yeah.
11:46 That is it.
11:47 Break dancing.
11:48 Break dancing.
11:49 Ertenbacht, the break dancer.
11:51 Ertenbacht showing his footwork, not just with his punches, but with his dancing.
11:57 Beautiful finish to this fight.
11:59 Yes, it was a cut, but Ertenbacht was starting to take this one over.
12:02 Oh, yeah, absolutely.
12:03 I mean, he was really sitting down on his shots.
12:04 Rokata was having more and more trouble getting away from the big punches.
12:08 Ertenbacht was picking his spots.
12:09 He has fantastic balance, and his shot selection tonight was elite.
12:14 So, incredible.
12:15 I don't think that was a bad stoppage at all.
12:21 Ertenbacht looks ready to go to the Olympic trials in three weeks.
12:24 He looks ready to fight again right now.
12:28 Measured pace, did not push himself too hard until he felt the vulnerability of Rokata
12:33 when he turned it up.
12:34 Yeah, it's funny.
12:35 My first step-up TV fight was against a Mongolian fighter, Bayan Mangaktabayard.
12:40 He was super tough.
12:41 He was like 15 and 2 when I fought him.
12:43 That was a tough fight, with 10 rounds.
12:45 There's not a lot of them in boxing, but when they're around, they're rough.
12:48 You said that guy came from kickboxing too, right?
12:50 Well, I fought him in kickboxing as well.
12:51 Didn't even realize it was the same guy until a couple months before.
12:54 I was like, "Wait, I fought this guy already."
12:56 Talked about the toughness of Rokata.
12:57 He did hang tough until that final round.
12:59 Ate some big punches.
13:01 But it was also a matter of when Ertenbacht wanted to turn it up.
13:03 See right there, we were talking about Ertenbacht's kind of cruising.
13:05 He's not coming at it.
13:06 He's not putting it into high gear.
13:07 He's almost like he's lackadaisical.
13:09 As soon as he turned it into high gear, this fight was over.
13:11 Jimmy, you were wondering about how the pace has to go faster in the Olympic trials.
13:15 Well, if he brings this pace to the Olympic trials, it makes him a lot more difficult to deal with.
13:19 Very, very true.
13:21 But gentlemen, as we said about the power disparity, the size disparity,
13:24 you think he's better at 26-30, right around there?
13:26 I think 30 is probably best.
13:28 He doesn't have to struggle too much.
13:29 26 might be a stretch.
13:30 He's got a lot of muscle in him.
13:32 He's got thick legs.
13:33 26 may be tough.
13:35 Those thick legs, he can turn over a big punch.
13:38 That's exactly what we saw.
13:39 Great hooks, great uppercuts.
13:41 It's the fellow Southpaw, Alberto Mercado.
13:48 Another impressive performance here, ProBoxTV.
13:51 And he's another guy.
13:52 You've got to look past the numbers.
13:53 That was his fifth KO in his ten fights.
13:55 He can punch, though.
13:56 He looks like he throws heavy hands.
13:57 He's obviously physically strong.
13:59 Granted, we keep talking about he's probably fighting in the wrong weight class,
14:02 self-admittedly by his corner.
14:04 But he looks very physically strong, especially the way he picks his punches
14:07 and places those shots.
14:09 There's that right hook that had Mercado in trouble in round two.
14:16 And then round three, man, he really started to pour it on.
14:18 Mercado looked to be in a bad place, and there was a cut.
14:21 It looked like a slice across the eyelid.
14:26 I got no problem with that stoppage.
14:27 You got nothing?
14:28 Yeah, none.
14:31 Break dancing and getting it done in the ring.
14:35 Beautiful stuff, looking to make himself a three-time Olympian.
14:38 He improves his record to 10-0 with his fifth knockout.
14:44 Future right now looking very, very bright for a Senbataar Urdanbot.
14:50 Jim Sorensen, let's make this one official.
14:55 Ladies and gentlemen, and two minutes, 39 seconds of the third round,
15:01 Dr. Denise Griffin stops this fight for your winner
15:05 and still undefeated by technical knockout,
15:10 Senbataar semi-hero, Urdanbot.
15:17 You don't just win, you own the crowd.
15:19 That's what you're supposed to do as a boxer.
15:21 You're supposed to be an entertainer.
15:22 This crowd very much behind the fighter from Mongolia.
15:29 This may be the shot that actually caused the cut.
15:32 Chris, take a look at this and let me know what you think.
15:36 Talk about a slice.
15:37 Yeah.
15:38 Right.
15:39 Yeah, we saw the suit that...
