00:00 This franchise has always dealt with the issues of today, of whenever they're being made.
00:08 And this one continues that legacy and updates it with a new tone.
00:15 But still, it's the Planet of the Apes film for now.
00:19 And I thought it was really cool.
00:21 Yeah.
00:23 I remember reading the scenes...
00:26 What?
00:28 I remember practicing the scenes right before one of my auditions with a friend.
00:34 And my friend was like, "This is really, really cool."
00:37 And I was like, "I know. I really want it."
00:40 Yeah.
00:41 You know, we've got these two characters at the centre
00:44 who have grown up with very specific, fixed views of one another.
00:50 And then they meet each other and they challenge that.
00:54 And if there's anything that we need to put out into humanity right now, it is that.
00:59 People get so fixed-minded on something that it takes away from the humanity.
01:05 And I think that there's a massive lesson to be learned there.
01:08 I think we go wrong in that constantly.
01:11 And it's highly frustrating.
01:13 People just can't break out of a box.
01:17 So I think that's definitely a theme that's naturally just there in the film.
01:23 And it's...
01:25 But ultimately there is this fact that we cannot escape,
01:30 that the humans are no longer dominant,
01:33 and she has the pressure of humanity on her shoulders.
01:40 And it's this weird thing of seeing so much in one another
01:45 but not being able to let that influence the fact that there ultimately is this separation
01:52 and that we are going to be kind of competing for that dominance.
01:58 As much as we'd like to see that be all fine,
02:04 it's kind of like, well, someone has to be dominant.
02:09 It's like what Trevathan says.
02:11 Yeah, there's only room for one intelligent species.
02:14 Oh no, sorry, it's what I say to Trevathan, sorry.
02:17 It's--
02:20 Noah comes from a somewhat more innocent place.
02:24 He doesn't know the history of what's been--
02:27 what's happened between humans and apes.
02:30 And so he really--
02:32 once he gets over kind of his initial dislike for you,
02:37 which is sort of taught to him--
02:40 he's learned to think of humans as these kind of pest, you know, rat-like creatures--
02:48 he really wants to trust you and he wants to like you.
02:51 And so he has a lot of hope for that.
02:58 But because of your fear of him and because of how you have--
03:03 the mission that you're on, you know,
03:06 there's this constant obstacle in their relationship,
03:11 which, you know, he can never fully trust her.
03:15 I'm fully team ape.
03:18 Listen, obviously when I'm playing Mae I'm team human,
03:22 but I'm team ape. Freya's team ape.
03:26 Ah, why so?
03:28 I mean, look at the planet.
03:32 Oh, here we go.
03:34 What do humans have done to the Earth?
03:36 Well, yeah, I dislike humans a lot.
03:39 You know, there's the odd one that's like, no.
03:42 I mean, there are times where you see humans come together and you go,
03:46 "Oh, isn't this lovely?"
03:48 And then there's times where you go, "I absolutely hate us."
