00:05The Supreme Court on Friday, that is today, has granted interim bail to the Delhi Chief

00:09Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam case

00:16till 1st of June 2024, allowing him to campaign for his party in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

00:23The apex court has stated that Kejriwal, however, will have to surrender on 2nd of June while

00:28refusing to keep him enlarged on bail till 5th of June. A bench comprising of Justices Sanjeev

00:34Khanna and Dipankar Dutta granted this interim relief to Kejriwal who was arrested by the

00:40Enforcement Directorate on March 21. The bench said that it had already granted bail to AAP

00:47leader Sanjay Singh on similar grounds. However, the apex court has stated that Kejriwal will

00:52somehow have to surrender before the authorities on 2nd of June. The detailed order on the matter

00:58will be uploaded soon on the court website. As of now, the order has been sent to Tihar Jail and

01:05now the preparations are underway to release the Delhi CM. The apex court was hearing a petition

01:12filed by Kejriwal himself challenging his arrest and remand by the ED in connection with the excise

01:18policy case. The Delhi High Court had already rejected his plea leading to the present appeal

01:24before the apex court but looks like the Supreme Court has decided to grant him bail and now the

01:30Delhi Chief Minister will be formally out very soon. By the time probably you're watching this

01:35video the CM is already out. The AAP leaders right now are happy to see their top leader coming out

01:41of jail as the investigation into the policy continues. Surely it's the election season and so

01:48the apex court's decision will surely change the dynamics of the ongoing general elections in India

01:53particularly if we talk about Delhi and Punjab. But it's not like that Kejriwal is entirely out

02:00of this muddle. There are a lots and lots of restrictions on him. So what these restrictions

02:06are exactly about? Well let's talk in brief.

02:12Firstly that Kejriwal will follow no CM duty and he's not allowed to comment. Kejriwal the Delhi

02:19Chief Minister will not perform any sort of duty as the Chief Minister of Delhi. He cannot visit the

02:24CM office and the Delhi Secretariat. Also he will be entitled to not comment on the liquor probe.

02:31Kejriwal so will not be able to make any comment about his role in the money laundering case

02:37linked to the Delhi excise policy in which he was arrested. Also because he's entitled to not follow

02:43the CM duty he cannot sign any official fine unless required or necessary by obtaining clearance by

02:50the Lieutenant Governor. Also Kejriwal cannot interact with any witnesses or can have access

02:56to any official file related to the case. However Kejriwal is having one good thing.

03:06There is no restrictions on Kejriwal's campaigning for the election. And so if the reports are to

03:13be believed the Aam Aadmi Party before the Kejriwal's bail was actually preparing for a rally

03:18for his wife Sunita Kejriwal in Punjab. But now it seems that Kejriwal himself

03:22will be the prima face of this rally. Aam Aadmi Party if we talk about the electoral dynamics

03:28right now has two big missions to accomplish. First is denting BJP in the Delhi Lok Sabha

03:36which it has failed largely both in 2014 and 2019. BJP won all the seven seats in these

03:43elections particularly if we talk about Delhi. Also this time Aam Aadmi Party is to break a

03:49record along with the Alliance Partner Congress in Delhi specifically. But will that materialize?

03:55Well for that we still have to wait for the voting process. Also the Aam Aadmi Party must

03:59be trying its best to repeat and even improve the performance in Punjab. The state administered by

04:05Punjab has to improve its tally and the Kejriwal's bail can actually do that. However it's still a

04:13very long road. But for now the Delhi CM is out of the jail. That's the news and very soon

04:19we will be seeing him campaigning on the large stage.
