00:10 A boat that doesn't need a crew,
00:13 cheaper and more environment-friendly.
00:16 That's the first Filipino-made solar-assisted electric boat.
00:20 Come on, let's change the game and try the CESI eBoat.

00:42 Mga Kapuso, the heat is on!
00:45 But no matter how hot it is now,
00:49 the sun will still be hot because of solar energy.
00:53 And that's what will make this eBoat run.
00:56 This is the first Filipino-designed and made electric boat,
01:00 named as Safe, Efficient, and Sustainable Solar-Assisted Plug-in Electric Boat,
01:06 or CESI eBoat for short.
01:09 Developed by engineers from Mapua University,
01:12 headed by engineer Phibos Cruz.
01:14 We want to create a boat with zero emission,
01:17 to have it powered by battery and 100% electric motor.
01:23 The project is co-funded by DOST and the Department of Energy.
01:28 There are a lot of efforts on the modernization of the land.
01:32 There's eJip, eBus, eTrike.
01:35 Then they want also to carry over that momentum to the maritime world.
01:40 Of course, we will try it in Kenya.
01:43 So, sir is going to start our eBoat.
01:47 We're in the middle of the sea, but we still can't feel that
01:52 there's something that's bothering us.
01:54 The CESI eBoat has become quiet.
01:57 It's like it's just floating.
02:00 We selected the motor with the highest efficiency,
02:03 as well as our battery.
02:05 It charges quickly while it's long-lasting.
02:09 Aside from being fully electric or it can be charged at 220V,
02:13 it's also solar-assisted.
02:15 This CESI or our eBoat can run for 2 to 4 hours.
02:20 We got that from regular chargings.
02:23 But if we're in the sun and we have a constant source of solar energy,
02:28 the running of Project CESI is one-to-one.
02:32 If the level of the sun is good, it won't use the battery.
02:36 It will automatically switch solar panels.
02:39 There's also a tracking and monitoring instrument to avoid accidents.
02:43 And since it uses renewable energy,
02:46 the operation cost is cheaper, which is only 25% compared to using fuel.
02:51 Right now, the CESI eBoat is a tourist boat.
02:55 So, we can transport tourists from one island to another island.
02:59 But the core technology, which is the electric boat system,
03:03 can also be used for inland ferries, mass transportation,
03:08 and eventually, it can also be used for fishing vessels.
03:12 That's what we envision.
03:15 My fellow Filipinos, not only cars but also eBoats have their own version here in the Philippines
03:24 that is sustainable and cost-efficient.
03:26 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Martin Avier,
