00:00Nicholas Galatine is clearing the air on the idea of his sexuality.
00:05While the Idea of You star initially rose to fame playing queer characters in the film Red, White and Royal Blue and the miniseries Mary and George,
00:14he's now setting the record straight about his own sexual identity.
00:18Telling British GQ in an interview published May 8th,
00:21I identify as a straight man but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories.
00:27The actor goes on to admit that his sexuality has at times made him second guess taking on such roles.
00:33Explaining,
00:34I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I'm taking up someone's space and perhaps guilt.
00:40At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.
00:45The 29 year old also insists that any character he plays is completely separate from who he is in real life.
00:52Saying,
00:53I am Nick and I'm not my role.
00:56And this isn't the first time Nicholas has addressed why he's wanted to take on a queer acting role.
01:02Back in March, he shared that one of the quote plethora of reasons he agreed to Red, White and Royal Blue
01:08was the strong belief that more LGBTQ plus love stories needed to be told.

01:15I have so many friends within the community and I know so many of them didn't feel like they had these stories growing up.
01:22In the end, his LGBTQ plus friends reactions to the Amazon Prime movie,
01:27which he stars in opposite Taylor Zakhar Perez,
01:30made him feel validated in his decision.
01:33Reflecting,
01:34My gay friends were like, wow, to have something cheesy and broad and wholesome is like really, really important.
01:41And I think the resonance of that means a lot to me.
