China Drafts Regulations to Tackle Battery Industry Overproduction

China published draft regulations to curb overproduction in the battery industry, going against its stance denying industrial overcapacity. The proposal aims to avoid new factories that simply expand capacity and set technical and environmental standards. A study found China has enough battery production to meet global demand but that may decline. China's battery manufacturing share may fall to 60% by 2030 from 80% currently as the US and EU boost production.
