00:00 What's up? Paul here from Guitar World and today we're going to be checking out
00:02 IK Multimedia's exciting new online platform Tonett. Let's check it out.
00:08 What is Tonett? Well, Tonett is a free web platform with social features dedicated to guitar and bass players
00:29 for exchanging AmpliTube 5 presets with other users and for finding the latest ones from VIP artists and popular musical instrument brands.
00:37 It's also open to other musicians or anyone interested in what's happening in AmpliTube's ever-expanding universe of tone.
00:44 And best of all, you can join the Tonett community for free.
00:47 Everything about Tonett is designed for making it your home base and community center, for managing your profile,
00:54 for exchanging AmpliTube presets with other users from around the world, and for finding the latest ones from VIP artists and brands.
01:01 At Tonett, you can check out all the shared new sounds and try them out or upload your own, follow other users.
01:07 Plus, you can access Tonett from within any version of AmpliTube 5, even the free custom shop edition.
01:14 You can also connect via your favorite web browser for everything outside of uploading or downloading presets,
01:19 which has to be done within AmpliTube 5.
01:23 In AmpliTube 5, you have direct access to Tonett, where you can see all presets, your presets, and liked presets.
01:29 You can also zero in and refine searches with the multitude of filters.
01:34 You can click a preset to download immediately or preview and listen to its audio demo.
01:39 If a preset has gear you don't own, you'll see the lock button, but you can demo it for up to three days via the custom shop.
01:46 Presets can include the entire signal chain, including pedals, amps, cabs, virtual outboard gear, and rooms.
01:53 Uploading your preset is super easy. Select one of your saved presets in AmpliTube 5,
01:59 hit the upload button, and fill out the preset info form.
02:03 Plus, you can add and record an audio demo from your computer or add SoundCloud or YouTube links with it.
02:10 Then just hit share and your preset gets uploaded to Tonett with your signal chain and settings for all to see.
02:17 Very easy to search new presets. Once you pick one, it displays all the relevant info and signal chain as well as a sound sample.
02:25 Let's take for example, if I want to find presets with Randy Rhoads, I can type in Rhoads
02:31 and then hit return and it's searching for presets on Tonett of Randy Rhoads.
02:37 And you can see all the Randy Rhoads presets from different users.
02:43 Let's do Van Halen.
03:02 [Van Halen]
03:28 Brian May.
03:30 [Brian May]
03:40 That's a signal chain. And you can see that's his amp.
03:43 That's what he's using. He's also using a Rockman Sustainer in there.
03:50 And then you can see his pedal boards.
03:55 Here he has a battery-powered amp on a 9 volt, which is cool.
04:00 [Rockman Sustainer amp]
04:16 And you can take a look at his crazy signal chain, what he's got going on here.
04:23 From his pedals to where it goes. This is the room sound. He's got it in a controlled room here.
04:30 And of course he's got a wet/dry mix and then of course you see all the outboard gear that he's using to get that sound.
04:36 And then he harmonizes it on the very back end of his signal chain.
04:42 There's the harmonizer.
04:43 [Harmonizer]
04:57 Let's take a look and listen to some of the presets I created for ToneNet.
05:00 Go into my profile, check that out. I did a bunch, like a great cross-section. I did one metal.
05:06 I did a bunch of Marshall type of sounds. So there's some really cool stuff in there.
05:11 And I did also some country as well and some really edgier type of sounds.
05:17 It's all over the place, so take a listen. And of course as you dig in you'll notice that I do like the Marshall type of sound.
05:24 I definitely love the Memory Man and I definitely love compressors.
05:27 So let's dig in and try out some of these.
05:30 Here's Sweet Leslie is her name.
05:33 [Sweet Leslie]
05:49 [Sweet Leslie]
06:07 Marshall Wall of Rhythm.
06:09 [Marshall Wall of Rhythm]
06:32 Paul's Marshall Wall of Havoc.
06:33 [Paul's Marshall Wall of Havoc]
06:49 This is on the edge of Breakup and Beyond. This is a different one.
06:53 [Breakup and Beyond]
07:20 On the edge, which is a little more like a pumpkin-y type of deal.
07:23 [Breakup and Beyond]
07:41 This is another Marshall preset. Hi-Ho using all silver Jubilees.
07:47 [Marshalls]
08:08 Paul really likes the Marshall sound and I got a very different varieties of that.
08:13 Now here's Paul trying to be doing the best Jeff Buckley recreation here.
08:19 [Paul]
08:49 Edgy Neck Driver. This is another alternate tone using your neck.
08:57 [Edgy Neck Driver]
09:19 Country Chime Sparkle. This is more of like my Brad Paisley.
09:25 [Brad Paisley]
09:47 And here's a different alternate take on that. This is Country Glitter Sparkle.
09:52 Sort of the same sound but a little more different frequencies.
09:56 [Country Glitter Sparkle]
10:09 Delayed on the street, which is sort of a U2-ish.
10:13 [Delayed Country Glitter Sparkle]
10:34 [Delayed Country Glitter Sparkle]
10:43 You can see right now I split the signal three ways.
10:48 And over here you can see I have a chorus on this one.
10:51 And then you have three different of this
10:54 Amplitube style, what they call the MiniPlex 20.
10:59 And what's great is I can swap out any one.
11:03 And then you get to hear what that sounds like within the...
11:08 [MiniPlex 20]
11:16 And then if you want, and going here if you want to hear what it sounds like
11:19 with there it had the chorus on...
11:21 [MiniPlex 20]
11:28 No chorus.
11:29 [MiniPlex 20]
11:35 Of course if you're using the signal chain I can add in like
11:38 other effects. Right here drop it right in.
11:42 You can see you can even add a phase 9 here.
11:46 Really go nuts.
11:48 [MiniPlex 20]
12:04 [MiniPlex 20]
12:32 I can move this anywhere in the chain however I want it.
12:35 And if I don't want it I can just get rid of it.
12:39 Audition different types of cabinets.
12:42 I can even put a sort of a 410 if I wanted to.
12:45 [MiniPlex 20]
12:50 Add a 412 if I feel like it. Like an orange.
12:54 [MiniPlex 20]
12:56 Or if I want more of a metal cabinet sounding.
12:59 [MiniPlex 20]
13:06 Add one of these cabinets, a Satch.
13:07 [MiniPlex 20]
13:14 Can move the microphones closer however you want it.
13:20 You can even get in there change all the settings here.
13:24 Pan left and right. Move these microphones.
13:30 You can even get to the VR tech here where you can start moving the speaker
13:34 anywhere around. Rotate this anywhere you'd like.
13:41 VR tech. This is cab one. Right over here cab one the room is
13:48 this one. Let's take a look. I can even change the
13:51 room if I want. Try different rooms.
13:56 Put it in that. You can change the speakers.
14:01 Different types of speakers to choose from.
14:05 Obviously you have your choice of mics.
14:08 Then there's the collection. This is where the brands
14:12 and artists like. This is like a dime bag collection of that you can just pick
14:16 something of like. That's just the speakers. That I mean
14:19 that's just that but you can see the amps. If I hit amp and look under the
14:23 dime bag collection tells me the amps I'm available.
14:26 And the if I hit on pedals the dime bag for example. Where is
14:33 he? Yeah those are the pedal he uses. And then you get to the outboard gear
14:37 over here. We have a bunch of outboard collection of gear.
14:46 Where I can add like modulation even on the end of the chain.
14:52 Delay. I also like dynamics so I like to put.
14:59 You can put one of these in there. Add a little dynamics.
15:04 [Music]
15:18 And then of course once you have this all set.
15:23 Once you find what you're looking for. I can take this. Take this thing and
15:30 upload it to Tonet. Here I can save it as a
15:35 orange metal. Orange metal.
15:42 Destination I'll put it in my own folder. Which is PJR. I'll open that up.
15:51 And then as you can see the artist is Guitar World
15:59 Paul. The name of the song is Orange
16:05 Metal. The album is PJR album. Song I say it's a good riff.
16:15 However I want to do it's a high gain definitely.
16:18 Let's put that under metal. It's electric guitar instrument type.
16:25 It's a solid body bridge pickup definitely.
16:28 Pickup type and then any keywords I want to search for.
16:33 Orange. Let's say orange sound. Orange.
16:40 Then I can save this just like that. And if I'm ready to upload it. Just go
16:46 like this. And you can see orange metal. I put out
16:49 all this stuff. I can even do record a link. I can do a
16:54 record. What I want it to sound like. You know
16:59 here we go. Gives me a countdown.
17:19 And then all I gotta do is click on share and boom it goes right to ToneNet.
17:23 ToneNet is a valuable addition to IK Multimedia's Amplitude 5's
17:27 massive tone studio for guitarists and bassists.
17:31 This online platform is community building if you will.
17:34 At its finest. ToneNet is simple to use and navigate through with the ability to
17:40 easily share, preview, upload and download presets to
17:43 use among this burgeoning ecosystem of artists and players
17:47 that utilize it. Myself included. It's wildly fun to use
17:51 and create, save presets. Not to mention the sounds of the gear in
17:55 Amplitude 5 are flat out superb. If you haven't already, definitely check
18:00 it out.
