00:11CRM Trial Connect 2024 on Thursday.
00:14His response was to a question about the Health Ministry's plan
00:18to seek clarification from AstraZeneca over the reported side effects of its COVID-19 vaccine,
00:23following recent reports in the foreign press.
00:27On May 5, Indonesia's National Commission for the Study and Prevention of Adverse Events
00:32Following Immunization, along with its Health Ministry and Food and Drug Authority,
00:37announced that there were no cases of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome
00:42TTS linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine in Indonesia.
00:46Earlier, international media reported that AstraZeneca admitted in court documents
00:50that its COVID-19 vaccine could cause rare side effects.
00:55The company is facing lawsuits with 51 cases in the UK High Court,
01:00alleging that the vaccine could cause death or severe injury,
01:03with claims totaling almost £100 million sterling or equivalent to approximately R595 million.
01:11On May 2, Zalqifli said his ministry would continue to monitor and deal with the matter
01:16based on evidence of symptoms, in addition to having clinical guidelines to treat affected
01:21individuals. He stressed that AstraZeneca must address safety concerns and provide a clear
01:27explanation to both Malaysia and the global community,
01:30even though the risk of side effects from the vaccine is relatively low.
