00:00 You will be aware that in March the school's governors passed a resolution to allow parents
00:15 to take part in a ballot regarding the school transforming from controlled status to controlled
00:21 integrated status.
00:24 We're aware that our parents and others in the community have different opinions on this
00:27 proposal and we want to encourage people to take every opportunity to find out as much
00:32 as possible about integration and what it could mean for Lorne High School.
00:38 We want all of our parents to feel that they're able to vote in the ballot with a full understanding
00:43 of what they're voting for.
00:46 We've tried to answer common questions and concerns through our frequently asked questions
00:50 posts on social media, but we are very aware that there are some people who would like
00:55 more information and an opportunity to ask questions and discuss integration in more
01:00 detail.
01:03 Information sessions for parents take place on Tuesday the 30th of April with additional
01:07 online opportunities for those that can't attend a meeting in person.
01:11 We want to encourage parents to attend the information sessions where we will welcome
01:15 questions and hopefully be able to address concerns so that we can help parents to make
01:21 their own decision about the possible future of the school based on as much information
01:27 as we can offer.
01:29 The sessions are for parents of current pupils because it's these parents who take part in
01:35 the ballot, but we are conscious nevertheless that there are prospective parents and others
01:40 in the community who support the school in all sorts of ways and care about the future
01:44 of the school who would also like more information and to have some of their concerns addressed.
01:52 We're very happy to engage with these groups to answer any questions or address any worries
01:56 that they might have and so appointments can be arranged with a call to the school office
02:01 on 2827 2159.
02:05 Again we want to encourage anyone who has questions to contact us directly as we're
02:09 more than happy to discuss the proposal.
02:13 The voting papers should arrive with parents just after the first May Day bank holiday
02:16 and need to be posted back to arrive with the ballot organiser by Friday the 31st of
02:21 May.
02:23 Whatever your view on integration is I would really encourage you to make use of your vote.
