00:12 Hello there, this is me Ansh Pandey and you're watching One India English.
00:16 The harrowing scenes which you just saw before this intro have become a daily trend on social media since 2021.
00:23 For the unaware, India has recorded a staggering death number due to cardiac arrest and heart attacks.
00:30 However, the Indian medical experts couldn't explain the exact reason behind the rising heart-related disease and deaths.
00:38 The UK vaccine maker AstraZeneca has recently admitted that the COVID-19 vaccine could cause a disorder leading to rare blood clots and reduce platelets count.
00:50 Many Indians who took this Indian version of the same vaccine are now worried amid all this uncertainty.
00:56 And now a new report has come up, a new development.
01:00 AstraZeneca, the original maker of the Covishield vaccine, has now announced a global withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine following the reports of rare side effects and a surplus of updated vaccines.
01:14 Developed in collaboration with Oxford University, the vaccine, also known as Covishield, when produced by the Serum Institute of India, is being withdrawn for commercial reasons as newer vaccines target emerging variants of the coronavirus.
01:30 The decision comes after the company admitted to the rare adverse effects.
01:34 The withdrawal includes discontinuing market authorization in the European Union where production has ceased.
01:41 AstraZeneca plans similar withdrawals in other countries using the vaccine.
01:47 Experts anticipate the withdrawal of all monovalent vaccines designed for the original COVID-19 strain as newer formulations supersede them.
01:57 In India, the Pune's Serum Institute of India had developed AstraZeneca vaccine with the name of Covishield.
02:05 This development comes days after the British-Swedish company admitted that AstraZeneca is causing severe rare side effects that have led to deadly side effects too.
02:16 The lawyers at the court argued that the devastating side effects are actually true.
02:22 The case was filed by Jamie Scott, who faced permanent brain injury after developing a blood clot due to this vaccine.
02:30 In the UK court, AstraZeneca had admitted the rare side effects are total complete platelet depletion.
02:38 The vaccine can also cause thrombosis and even blood clots can occur in stomach and even in brain.
02:45 Specifically, if we talk about India, it's not like that the concerns were never raised regarding the vaccine-related issues.
02:52 Imran Pratap Garhi of the Indian National Congress had once raised this issue in the parliament during his speeches raising concern about the COVID-19-related deaths.
03:03 We are seeing such visuals that will make us start thinking about such devastation that no one is talking about.
03:12 It is the responsibility of this Supreme Court to talk about such serious issues.
03:17 We are seeing people working out in the gym and falling and suffocating.
03:21 A child playing cricket is falling and suffocating.
03:24 People are dying while dancing and happiness is turning into mourning.
03:29 A 16-year-old child in Meerut fell and suffocated while walking on the road with his friends.
03:36 These visuals are very scary.
03:38 No one is even talking about it.
03:41 I am a member of the Standing Committee of the Health Committee.
03:43 I appealed there to do research on this issue.
03:46 What is the disease that is causing people to lose their lives in a moment?
03:51 I want to tell the country through you that people are in a state of fear.
03:56 Some are calling it the side effect of COVID-19 and some are calling it the vaccine.
04:01 The same vaccine vials were used in India to vaccinate millions of Indians during the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2020.
04:09 And so many Indians claim that the Covishield vaccination may now lead to health, heart, disaster.
04:16 And some are even worried that vaccine may lead to thousands of deaths in near future.
04:21 Even two Indian families have also pledged to sue Covishield manufacturers for the untimely demise of their loved ones, including their daughter.
04:29 And so now the formal admission by the AstraZeneca in the UK court draws potential risk to millions of Indians too.
04:37 Most of them don't know who to blame for it.
04:40 So far, the Indian government is also tight-lipped as elections continue in India.
04:46 According to the Indian government's vaccine policy, there are no clauses for the compensation as it was drafted in a hurry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
04:56 This means that there is no provision for Indians to ask for any sort of compensation in case of any health issue caused due to the COVID-19 vaccination.
