00:00 This is what remains of a large tree that uprooted and killed a 47-year-old man at Jalan Sultan Ismail during a thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon.
00:12 Alam Flora workers have been hard at work to clear the fallen tree and debris along the road, which has fully reopened to traffic.
00:20 Meanwhile, a technical team from Rapid Rail was seen assessing the damage on the monorail track, which had also been in the path of the fallen tree.
00:29 Four monorail stations – Bukit Nanas, Raja Culan, Bukit Bintang and Imbi – have been temporarily closed for cleaning and repair works.
00:40 The uprooted tree was more than half a century old and under private supervision.
00:46 Following the tragic incident, Kuala Lumpur City Hall has now been ordered to come up with new guidelines to manage the city's aging trees.
00:54 Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said there must be more frequent inspections given the "unpredictable weather conditions."
