00:00These days, WWE love to tout their impressive YouTube numbers as one of their new media
00:05buzzword riddle business metrics.
00:07The financial impact of our Google Overlord for WWE is relatively small compared to deals
00:12of the TV and Saudi variety, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to be gained from
00:16taking a more in-depth look at the most popular videos on WWE's YouTube channel.
00:21For starters, it tells us what us fans want to see from their product, or at least why
00:25WWE give us what they think we want.
00:28And having now taken that look, I think it's time we discussed a few trends.
00:31Fun fact, if you do this same search on this very channel, 7 of our top 10 videos are Adam's
00:36Fantasy Bookings, which I think means you want to see more actually good videos from
00:41me.
00:42It's okay, audience, I hear you.
00:44I am Luke Owen, hailing from partsFUNknown, and these are the 10 most viewed WWE YouTube
00:49videos as of May 2022.
00:52Why not help this video be the most viewed video on this channel by subscribing to it?
00:56I think that's how YouTube works.
00:5810.
00:59Rey Mysterio vs The Great Khali – 145 Million Views
01:03Wow, that many people have collectively watched world champion Rey Mysterio get squashed and
01:07pinned in 3 minutes, eh?
01:08This match took place on the May 12th 2006 edition of Smackdown right in the middle of
01:13JBL's very thinly veiled racism run against Mysterio, you know, like taking the thinnest
01:17veil you can find and then making it thinner to the point of transparency.
01:21But really, there isn't much to it.
01:22Khali throws Rey around the ring a couple of times, then JBL beats him up and lets Khali
01:27hit a tree slam.
01:28It's a stark reminder of just how poorly WWE booked Rey once he won the belt belts.
01:32So why many views on this video?
01:34Maybe people wanted to remind themselves that something like this did in fact actually happen.
01:39Maybe they thought it was a different match.
01:41Maybe everyone just clicked of it because of that thumbnail.
01:43Look at Rey, he's literally half the size of that man.
01:46But the reality is, as we'll see in the next video…
01:499.
01:50Smackdown Battle Royal for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship – 146 million views
01:55And that is that lots of WWE's views or videos come from India.
01:59This is the Battle Royal where Khali won the belt and then held it upside down like he's
02:02a bigger, less good version of David Arquette.
02:04But this is the great Khali, an Indian-born wrestler winning the company's, albeit second,
02:10top title on, albeit, their second tier show.
02:13It's a great moment if you're from India, where I would wager most of these views have
02:18come from.
02:19Smackdown went through some tough times in 06 and 07, with their World Championships
02:22needed to be vacated due to injury, with new champions being crowned in Surprise Battle
02:26Royals.
02:27The 2006 one saw Kurt Angle win.
02:29That's really good, but it's not on this list though, because that only has a paltry 3.2
02:33million views.
02:34But this 2007 edition?
02:35Yeah, gimme them clicks.
02:37The popularity of these two videos explains things like Satnam Singh in AEW, TNA's Ring
02:41Car King project, or WWE's push of Jinder Mahal in 2017.
02:45There is a market for wrestling in India.
02:49There's clearly a hunger and appetite for it.
02:51Look at these numbers.
02:52It's just that no one has been able to crack it yet.
02:54And maybe, just maybe, that's because they keep making the big Indian stars to appeal
02:59to the big Indian market the f***ing bad guys that everyone boos.
03:038.
03:04Every Goldberg Match Since His Return – 147.1 Million Views
03:08And this is the reason WWE keep bringing back Goldberg.
03:11Congratulations you lot, it's your fault he beat the fiends.
03:15This is the first video of its kind to appear on this list, as it's one of WWE's playlist
03:19videos.
03:20It's not like YouTube's playlist videos, where a series of videos play one after the
03:24other.
03:25This is one giant long video that, like Roncil, does exactly what it says on the tin.
03:29It's all of Goldberg's matches since his return up until a couple of years ago, and most of
03:33them are played in their entirety.
03:35Which is mostly because a lot of Goldberg matches can fit into the space of a TikTok.
03:39You get all of the Survivor Series match, the Royal Rumble, and basically all of his
03:4321 seconds with Kevin Owens from 2017.
03:45But Goldberg's WrestleMania 33 match with Brock Lesnar is edited down, showing only
03:49the second half of the already short match.
03:52Then you realise how self-aware WWE's video editors are, as only 30 seconds of the Undertaker
03:56match is shown, before closing with Gawk cutting Dolph Ziggler in half in what is still the
04:00best use of Bullet Bill's services since his return.
04:03It stops there, so this must have been used to promote Goldberg ahead of Super Showdown
04:062020, if only they knew what was to come.
04:09And just remember folks, it's all your fault.
04:127.
04:13Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley – Arm Wrestling Match – 147.5 Million Views
04:18We often make jokes here that WWE only puts on arm wrestling matches on Raw because it's
04:23Vince McMahon's favourite category on Pornhub, and they like to make him come like Veer Mahan.
04:27But the reality is that sometimes, and it's more common than you'd think, arm wrestling
04:30videos do MASSIVE numbers on YouTube.
04:34This video was only from a few years ago, June 2019 in fact, but it has nearly 150 million
04:40views.
04:42If you stretch this list out to look at the top 15 videos on WWE's YouTube channel,
04:46number 13 is John Cena vs Mark Henry in an arm wrestling contest with 131 million views.
04:52They even have a playlist for it so you can be like Vinny Mac in your own time with your
04:56own personal Vinny Jack session.
04:58Personally, I don't see the appeal of arm wrestling contests, let alone WORKED arm wrestling
05:02contests, but you cannot argue with their popularity on the platform.
05:06Maybe I should challenge Adam Blampied to an arm wrestling contest, and we'll also
05:09make it a booking video.
05:11100 million views, here we come!
05:13Number 6.
05:14John Cena, Batista, and Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and The Big Show!
05:19Tribute to the Troops, 2008, 158 million views.
05:22The popularity of this video is right there in the title.
05:25LOOK AT ALL THOSE NAMES!
05:26I have two big takeaways from this video though, the first of which is WWE's watermark is
05:31in the top right corner instead of the bottom left corner, and I cannot stop staring at
05:35it.
05:36The second of which is the title of this video lists Chris Jericho and The Big Show as Jerrish
05:39Show, despite the fact they're not debuting as a team until the following year.
05:42Boy, I hope someone got fired for that blunder.
05:44As for the match itself, you have the 2002 crew of Cena, Batista, and Rey Mysterio leading
05:48the charge on behalf of good and righteous, while fellow 2002 dude Randy Orton teamed
05:53up with the yet-to-be-formed Jerrish Show, who were stars of the previous era.
05:57Over half of the video's length is dedicated to just the entrances, and then they show
06:00about half of the actual match, because who wants to watch stupid wrestling, amirite?
06:04with Orton and Jericho eating a double 619, as Orton took an AA, and Jericho takes a BB.
06:10It's fun stuff.
06:115.
06:12John Cena and AJ Lee Kiss!
06:13After Cena's victory over Dolph Ziggler, 167 million views.
06:18And now here is my first piece of evidence, your honour, that these views are all from
06:22DIRTY PERVERTS.
06:24After my in-depth look at WWE's YouTube page, I have determined that WWE fans love three
06:29things.
06:30The Great Khali, Arm Wrestling, and Kissing.
06:32The 15th biggest video on WWE's YouTube channel is a playlist of unexpected kisses,
06:36the 17th biggest is surprising smooches, and the 24th looks like Undertaker is about to
06:41lay a kiss down on Brock Lesnar.
06:42This video specifically gives you the end of a John Cena vs Dolph Ziggler match, where
06:46AJ Lee stopped Vickie Guerrero from interfering, and Cena dodged a briefcase shot into the
06:50Cena Wins LOL for Cena to win LOL.
06:52After we're done with that boring ass wrestling nonsense, though, we get to the real main
06:56event that the sickos clicked for, as the crazy ass AJ Lee character waited for Cena
07:01to finish celebrating so she could plant a big ol' smooch on him.
07:05Cena has never really done a convincing job of appearing human, so I don't know if this
07:09is just how he kisses, but he didn't look down a clown.
07:12Is this what you humans call love?
07:15Hustle, loyalty, respect, beep boop.
07:184.
07:19Stephanie McMahon is FURIOUS with Roman Reigns, 182 million views
07:24Considering that the long-term belief that McMahon's equal ratings, which explains
07:28the absolute clusterf**k main event of WrestleMania 2000, this is the first video on our top 10
07:33to feature a McMahon.
07:34But don't worry folks, there is another.
07:38But even if you scroll to the top 30, the top 40, the McMahons feature so lightly in
07:42WWE's most watched videos on YouTube.
07:45So which iconic McMahon moment did crack the top 10?
07:49It's me, Austin, the bedpan, the name on the contract reads Shane, Linda taking a stunner,
07:55Crips and Steph getting married, Shane O'Mac's sweaty return, or any of his sweaty falls?
08:00No, it's Stephanie McMahon yelling at Roman Reigns in a random episode of Raw and then
08:05slapping him, 182 million views?
08:09How the f**k did this happen?
08:11Did this just accidentally fall into the YouTube algorithm and get suggested to literally every
08:15single YouTube user, kind of like Simon Godge burying Enzo Amore, I'M NOT GONNA CLICK THAT
08:21VIDEO YOUTUBE, LEAVE ME ALONE, SUGGEST ME MORE OSW VIDEOS.
08:25Look I don't really know what we can learn from this video, other than the authority
08:28storyline f**king sucked.
08:303.
08:31John Cena and Brock Lesnar get into a brawl that clears the entire locker room, 211 million
08:36views.
08:37In a more traditional pro wrestling segment, John Cena and Brock Lesnar engaged in a classic
08:41pull-apart brawl on Raw in 2012.
08:43This was one week after Lesnar returned to Raw to F5 John Cena, and now, JEEEAAANNNN
08:48wanted to take a bite out of Brock and ended up with an insanely bloody mouth as a result.
08:52Most of the roster was out there to try and keep these two separate, and this was a HUGE
08:56segment to build to a match with a ton of casual interest, and that is shown by this
09:01clip garnering 211 million views and spells out something quite clearly, two big stars
09:07with two big names in one small ring equals dem clicks.
09:10Thankfully no one appears to have watched the video that shows what happened next when
09:13John Cena BEAT Brock Lesnar in his return match, which still might be the dumbest booking
09:18decision since John Cena beat The Nexus in their first big match.
09:21This is why no one liked you John, beep boop.
09:242.
09:25WWE Top 10 Stunning In-Ring Proposals – 218 Million Views
09:30This isn't wrestling friend, this is sports entertainment pal.
09:34No more clear is that than when we get the two top entries on this list, first of which
09:37is a video of in-ring proposals led with the now rather awkward thumbnail of John Cena proposing
09:42to Nikki Bella at Mania that one time, beep boop.
09:44I'd put money on that a lot of these views are a crossover audience with Total Divas
09:49who want to see the big romantic point of the show.
09:52It also means that they'd probably click off the rest of the video once they've seen
09:55that bit as the rest of it is a who's who of who gives a beep.
09:58218 million views is a classic moment shared between the likes of Oksana and Goldust, Rusev
10:02and Summer Rae, Billie and Chuck, AJ Lee and Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee and Paul Heyman.
10:08There is probably the promise of smooching in this video, as well as pie and punch, and
10:12that might explain why it's done so well.
10:14And speaking of smooching, number one, Randy Orton makes it personal with Triple H 300
10:19and 2 million views.
10:21You dirty perverts.
10:23Yeah, the title of this video doesn't lie, Randy Orton sure does make it personal with
10:27Triple H because this is the segment where Randy Orton kisses an unconscious Stephanie
10:32McMahon.
10:33Why has this video been viewed so many times?
10:35Like nearly a hundred million more than the video in second place.
10:39And the answer is quite simple.
10:41This isn't about the stars.
10:42This isn't about the angle.
10:44This isn't even about smooching.
10:46This, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of perfect title and perfect thumbnail.
10:51Look at this thumbnail.
10:53Triple H looks worried.
10:54Randy Orton is on his hands.
10:55Stephanie's in the foreground and on the ground.
10:58It asks so many questions and you have to click into the video to find out what it all
11:02means.
11:03Trips is even doing a YouTube face.
11:04Couple that with the title of Randy Orton makes it personal and boom, dem clicks.
11:10I'd price money the fact that many of these views aren't even wrestling fans.
11:14Not maybe it's just because you're all dirty perverts and wanted to see Randy Orton make
11:17out with an unconscious woman all to build up one of the worst WrestleMania main events
11:21of all time, you dirty sicko perverts.
11:23So in conclusion, be sure to tune into NXT 3.0 next year where the great Carly will arm
11:28wrestle John Cena and then they kiss for an hour because it's what you want, you dirty
11:32sick pervert.
11:33And that's our list.
11:35Why not try and make this the most watched video on our YouTube channel by sharing it
11:38with your friends and clicking the old thumbs up button.
11:41Other YouTube stuff.
11:42There's videos on screen that you can watch too.
11:44I've been Luke Owen, Jam That Jam.
